I wanted to clarify a few things that were bothering me.  When i left GPC i originally went to TP's site and i can't remember it's name...think it was ksufans or something.  It was nice to be free of Fitz and his bullshit and i liked that site. Then you guys broke away and took a lot of really good posters so i came here and honestly the board was really fun with a lot of fun and funny stuff.  At some point i decided to try to contribute and was immediately attacked, but i knew it was the schtick so i was ready for it.  Or I thought i was.  LOL.  After a few months of trying I said eff it and quit for a while.  Then i came back as WB and told myself i wouldn't let the PI crap bother me this time.  In truth the personal attacks were less irritating than the fact that there just was no good discussion.  When someone disagrees with you, instead of a well thought out argument it's just vitriol.  I realize this is how a lot of posters on here amuse themselves and that's unfortunate because it's not what i am looking for in a message board/community.  I used to come to this place to be entertained and for a long while it was VERY entertaining....now it's not fun, funny or even interesting, outside of a few posters.   I commend the group of guys that started this place...i've actually met some of you and you seem to be good people.  The fact that you have your own message board is pretty cool...it's just not what it was and it's time for me to go.  I spent a few hours yesterday on KSO and it brought back a lot of memories of the posters i used to know and enjoy.  I think i'm going to like it there.

And MIR ftr I'm not an HR manager or a farmer.  I own a Tier 1 automotive parts manufacturing company.  We supply large structural automotive components to Ford, GM and Chrysler.  I do appreciate the business advice i received in the pit!  I'm putting it to good use.

Anyway, this was a good board at one time, it really was.  It was certainly a nice respite from Fitz and his bullshit.  I'm sure it's still fun for the core group.  I have a text group like that and we really enjoy each other during games...this seems like it's just a larger version of that.  You don't need me or people like me, you'll always have the core group so i understand the PI'ing and the like.  But not having captain crap, BSAC and some of the other "in the know" posters just kinda makes this a place to chat with each other.  No real good discussions, no insider information, no dissenting opinions, just a place to hang out and bullshit when you want.  That was the whole point of this thread...without _Fan (and the like) I'm not sure why i'm here.  I joined Rivals this morning...haven't dove in just yet but I'm looking forward to seeing what it has to offer.  The site looks nice and they do have some content there so there's that.  Best of luck to everyone on this board!  We're all cats even if we disagree.

It never ceases to amaze me that people with bad opinions get really mad when other people challenge them to support or explain their bad opinions

Wow...great strawman here lib.  Well done.      Keep selling that!  "People don't like goEMAW because some posters respectfully disagree with their positions.  They just can't deal with people disagreeing with them"

They don't fight.  Just like Texas last night...you just see it as the game wears on and things aren't going right.  They just kinda quit.  Texas just mailed it in last night with about 4 min left.  I remember watching and thinking...this team has no fight.  I feel the same about OU when i've watched them this year.  I don't see it.  I think we win at OU and at TCU.  The only game that concerns me is Baylor.  I want 12-6!  For oscar!

you have to embrace the process, buy in or quit

No i get it...the PI is part of the hazing ritual.  But to what end?  This board is relatively devoid of any interesting discussion outside of what _Fan (and Posse) brings to the table.  It used to be funny at least.  Who wants to go thru the hazing process only to become part of ..... what exactly?

I can't imagine being as emotionally fragile as whisker biscuit

T's&p's bud also what was your first name

I don't feel emotionally fragile but maybe i am.  I think this is the reason this place doesn't have more posters.  Who really wants to deal with it?   I think it's 2 things:  1.  OG's on this board have a "brotherhood" with other OG's....they like the people that are here  2.  They think it's funny or enjoyable to eff with anyone on the board that is new, especially those that have a different opinion.    It's effective.  Will definitely keep this place the small, isolated mb it has become.  And honestly if it was mine, maybe that would be the way i would want it.  Might make sense to just quit allowing registrations?

There are so many shitty poster that just post away, but anyone who has a legitimately interestimg pov is PI'd and has their username changed. The board has devolved into the opposite of what it was created for, and that's 100% on the shitty baby fit mods.

This is spot on.  I originally joined here with a different username but got PI'd to the point of saying eff it and i just quit.  I didn't want to go back to Fitz so i just sat out for a while...then i thought, why should i let some assholes keep me from talking Cats and i got back in.  Still, the discussions on here are not worth the bullshit most of the time.

Coming from a young, relatively new lurker, if you want to know the reason this place is dead all some of you have to do is look in the mirror.

All I see on here is:

-Constant bitching between posters often referencing past beefs that no one but them knows or cares about

-Making little effort to welcome new posters with, IMHO, a general attitude of seniority & exclusivness existing amongst the "regulars and originals," ex. acronyms and other crap specific to gE with no legend so that someone new can understand. I get the feeling some seem proud to tout they have more gE knowledge than newbies, yet simultaneously bitch about it being dead, while ALSO simultaneously bitching about the old guy who tells back in my day stories.

-General lack of any info. This place used to have a lot of insider rumblings and interesting sources with legit stories to break. KSO and twitter have unequivocally passed gE in that regard. I come here to try to learn stuff I don't already know, not see the same public bickering happen by page 3 every thread.

-Disinterest in recruiting news. This is a huge market that is largely ignored here.

-Lack of interest overall. Football hired a 3 new coaches that stimulated a whooping like 6 pages of thread, most of which had nothing to do with breaking down the actual hire. We have a basketball team full of likeable characters, but you can't make it a page of thread without a Oscar or a negative nancy derailment.

I get a free site with no one paid to run will be somewhat limited in resources. I get that I'm being a huge hypocrite not contributing anything myself. It just seems this has become the place the OGs created for the OGs. Don't be that same old guy from above who also just makes lame excuses and blames everything on the next generation because you don't know why something changed

I had/have all these same criticisms.  I originally came here because i couldn't stand Fitz...i joined gpc many, many moons ago and really enjoyed it during the "glory" years of KSU athletics.  At some point i just couldn't stand the way Fitz was running the place so i cancelled my subscription and came here....for all it's warts this place at least allowed me to continue to discuss the Cats.  I honestly hadn't even considered KSO now that Fitz is gone.  I just went over there and the site looks great.  I'm gonna sign up for a year and see how it goes.

Play in game is def best for "Bruceology" ... gives him the best shot at another "tourney win" and advancement into the "second round".

Oh man.

Its supposed to snow 3-5" tonight also, FWIW.

Absent snow, are there normally a lot of single-game ticket purchases by students who weren't interested in the absurdly cheap student season tickets?

Free tickets would make a lot more sense if given away to townies living in fOOD-adjacent housing developments.

True. Plus probably at least 1/4 of the students who actually bought tickets haven't been to a game since KU.

May as well pay people to come.  $5 and a free hot dog?

Roads are crap.  Cold as hell.  I can't imagine the OOD will be 50% full.

Petro was on 810 yesterday discussing whether 10-8 would be enough to get KSU into the dance.   :shakesfist:

I get wanting to pay your employees as little as possible because you put more in your pocket.  But being upset at the welfare program because it won't cut back and effectively drive those desperate people into your waiting arms is weak.

OMG.  I give up.   If there was an emoticon with a white flag waving i would post it.  I can't do this.   :buh-bye:

Here you go libs...i'll start (I"m the best at debating):

LiberalBiscuit:  First off WB, you're way the eff off topic here...this is a debate on how to best feed the poor (idiot/dipshit/fucktard)...name calling here is optional.  But I'll indulge you:  sure there is a shortage of skilled workers i think we can all agree on that.  But it's not the governments responsibility to train your workers.  If corporate America needs skilled workers, why don't they train them?  Since you seem to love capitalism so much, why isn't capitalism taking care of the worker shortage thru training programs?  You can't just sit on the sidelines and bitch, do something about it!

You are trying to hire skilled workers at under $15/HR?  Holy fuk

Not exactly sure who this is addressed to but...my post of $12-14 is an "always open, always hiring" ad for unskiilled workers.

Found it Dlew...my bad

Listen, WB, we get it.  You think welfare is bullshit and that the standards should only really apply to those who are literally unable to work.  Bad news -- this institution is never going away and I doubt the standards ever get more restrictive than they are today.

Now, in the land of reality, we can either change the system to make it more inefficient to prove a point to hungry people (both lazy AND legitimately disabled) that they can't be trusted to buy their own food.  Or we can keep the system as is, which is more efficient, and understand that some portion of the recipients may be scamming the system.

As someone who considers myself a conservative, I'm less interested in governments trying to teach lessons, and more interested in governments acting efficiently.

Side note: your "I'm the best at debating" schtick is absolutely insufferable.  Like a smug high school freshman.

"Like a smug high school freshman"  It was a good start but ended as expected.  Again with a personal attack. I just don't get it.  Not sure where i said i was the best at debating, i am simply trying to get liberals to make an actual ARGUMENT instead of just typing "you're a prick"  "You're a smug freshman"  "post your tax returns", "you hate women" etc

Your insults really hurt my feelings Dlew.  Now you have to live with that knowledge.   :Crybaby:

WB has definitely made a strong case for more mental health coverage.

This is what you contributed to this discussion:

"I’m waiting for Whiskey Biscuit to post his tax returns to let us all know how much he pays in taxes"

Take some notes here Matt.

It's not that easy LB.  You can't train people that won't show up in the first place.  The problem isn't that there are no skilled workers, that problem is that there are no WORKERS.  People are falling out of the workforce because they are more incentivized to NOT work than to work (https://www.cnbc.com/2016/12/02/95-million-american-workers-not-in-us-labor-force.html)    95 million Americans are not counted as part of the labor force!!  That's nearly a third of ALL Americans.  SNAP participation has increased from 33 mil to 45 mil in the past 7 years!

LiberalBiscuit:  So, WB, you seem to be saying that people are more incentivized to NOT work than to work?  Maybe if companies raised wages and paid more, that incentive would flip...you would bring people back into the workforce by providing a GREATER incentive to work than not to work.  simple economics (fuckhead, bad person, dickwad...again name calling is optional here).  And further, if you need more workers, why do you repub's/conservatives want to close the border???  That position seems completely antithetical to your contention that we need more workers!  Why spend a bunch of money on a stupid wall to keep potential workers out????

This topic has nothing to do with fraud obviously, as there is way bigger fraud in other government programs and paying the IRS...it's about punishing the "lazy" people and they should just appreciate what they get for free.

How about we meet in the middle and agree it's both?

Raise your hand if you are an employer?  I'm one.  I keep an ad running full time looking for unskilled labor at $12-14 per hour.  If we get one applicant a month that can pass a drug test and make it to work on time i consider it a successful month.  It's hilarious to listen to politicians or other people with opinions that have never gone thru the process of trying to hire someone.  Please try it before you form an opinion or make an argument.  They want to go on and on about the minimum wage needing to be raised....minimum wage???  I haven't hired someone at minimum wage in the last 20 years.  I can assure you i'm not alone.  Skilled labor employers have it even worse.  Try to find a CNC operator or someone that can run run a machine.  Talk to a banker...their lending lines are maxed out because builders can't get their homes built and sold in a timely manner because they can't find workers.   People that want to work have no difficulty making enough money to stay off the gov't tit.

I'm an employer, and I sure as eff don't ascribe to the bullshit you're peddling in here. You're a selfish prick, that's fine, this is America you can be that but none of us are buying your opinion having anything to do with you being a middle manager in HR. In fact you're most likely the farmer receiving hundreds of thousands in subsidies complaining about poor people on welfare, that's likely exactly what you are.

Such a well prepared and thoughtful response.  "You're a selfish prick"... brilliant...quite the linguist.   I'm with FSD here, why are you libs so horrible at debating a topic?  Is your position really that bad that all you can do is launch personal attacks?    Your entire post offers nothing to support whatever position you are trying to take....which is what exactly?

Yes, when the subject matter is interesting, turnout (quality and quantity) will be better at the arena, at paks, here, everywhere.  And the quality discussion includes serious data stuff as well as the bbs equivalent of combofan'n in front of perceived landmarks.

I think there is a text thread trying to figure out how they effed up this board

1) Politics discussion has taken off and created a cess pool
2) Posters are aging out and not enough young talent to replace them
2a) SD is one of those
3) Some pretty meh seasons

Cause/effect  I'm only in the pit because there's no discussion here.  I'd much rather be here...much better for my high blood pressure.  i need _Fan to lower my stress levels  :)

Are #libbots Preprogrammed to make Shitty Arguments???

ITT, we have a premise that it would be good policy to provide healthier food to those on welfare, rather than allow the purchase of bad food which leads to poor health.

That was met with (least stupid to most stupid)
1. As a matter of economics, unrestricted cash is best -- complete red herring
2. Some accusation of nanny state -- it's a change to an existing nanny state program
3. Attack a poster's business model and practices -- stupid
4. This somehow is an attack on the poor -- stupider
5. An accusation of slut shaming -- stupidiest
6. Blanket it won't work statements -- lazy

Can you libbots not come up with anything substantive at all???
3.

michigancat had a good opposing post......it's a start.

Have you considered that if you pay more than $12 to $14/hr that you might attract more suitable applicants?

That's what you took from my post?  Really?  but thank you...you know i had never really considered that but what a great idea!  thanks again!
