It is weird how instantly recognizable that Walmart smell is.  I guess that's why they do it though.  Were they the first large scale retailer to use scent marketing I wonder?

Just saw a barefaced MAGA in camo coveralls brush by the Asian greeter who politely asked him to mask up at the MHK Walmart. Don’t shame me for going into the MHK Walmart.

Being a Walmart greeter must be the most thankless job possible these days.  I've only ever seen one confrontation over mask/no-mask anywhere and it was at a Walmart.

(also don't shame me for going into a Walmart, I assure you I've only gone in one time during the whole covid)

Did everybody sign up for the cdc vsafe thing after their shot? Kind of fun to report symptoms and feel like you are contributing back.

It's legit one of the highlights of my day filling out that survey.

What is Calamus? A lake or national park or something?

And people are rough ridin' weird to ask things like that.

Moderna jab #1 for me on Friday.

I didn't feel a thing when I got my jab, kind of wondered if it missed or something.  But the sore spot at the injection site today tells me it didn't miss.

Otherwise, no side effects.

Same. Congrats to you on successfully avoiding COVID for over a year!

I tried to watch Rick and morty but it bugged me that Rick had to say "morty" in every single sentence. Like, I get it, the kids name is morty, enough already.

I was starting to get annoyed with the constant Rick belching every other word, but they kind of ended that after the first season or so.

Who had a pandemic year being the wildest year O.A.T. for the carousel. Remember when the narrative was this was going to be a quiet year?

I think there was a fair amount of pent-up demand to make coaching changes this year since everyone was freaked the eff out last year during carousel season and didn't make any moves.

I took the Southwest Chief from KC to Flagstaff (and then back) once.  It's a great way to travel.  I was crushing beers the whole way.

Chip 1 installed. In and out in under 15 mins. America.
Glad to see you survived despite not waiting the required 15 minutes.

Yes, I dipped out immediately. Feels incredible. Almost indescribable. I feel flush with joy. Tingly all over. Having a hard time containing my excitement, to the point I can barely catch my breath.

Did you get Pfizer, Moderna, or Heroin?

BTW, old school gE'ers will be sad to know that soonerfans isn't a thing anymore. The board is still there but there hasn't been a post in two years.

What happened?

Dunno, looks like it just ran out of posters

Not that anyone really cares, but I used to post there pretty regularly and it's a long story and I'll try to sum up as concisely as I can.  It was kind of going downhill for a while then they made a poster with the handle of C&C Dean a mod on the South Oval and he ruled that place with an iron fist...and not in a good way.  They had a messed up reputation system where someone who had more rep points carried more weight when they gave out up/down votes and that kind of spiraled out of control and as childish as it may seem the reputation points kind of mattered.  Anyway the mod I mention above ended up with the ability to swing a person's reputation by +/- a million points with a single vote (while the second most powerful rep hammer would have been maybe a couple thousand).

That person treated the board as more or less like real life and he was a pretty abrasive personality (I guess many would consider him a MAGA by today's standards) and he had a habit of not liking others who didn't share very similar opinions as his on lots of things.  Of course this turned off enough of the regular posters - who eventually left - that the place ended up being just two or three people and thousands of bots posting spam.

There is a lot more to the story, some of it kind of crazy in a kind of soap opera way, but I'll spare the details here.

This all happened like a dozen years ago, and honestly I'm surprised that place still exists at all.

I’m on the 4th episode of Halt and Catch Fire. I’m still not sure what to think. Seeing The Wiz from Seinfeld act like a Texan is funny.
It gets p good imo

I liked it.  Last season was kinda a downer tho.

Which region are you interested in staying?

i need you to tell me that.  more of a mountains and moose fan than lobster and whales.

Ah yes, the mountain and lakes region, that's my favorite region. I love it because it's so close to everything and the lobster and whales are only an hour or so away if you need a change of pace, and that's to the warmer south Maine coast. BTW Maine is split into regions for tourism purposes

Mountain & Lakes
Maine Beaches
Mid Coast
Maine Highlands
Aroostook County
Acadia & Downeast
Kennebec Valley
Portland & Casco Bay

I'll give you a mountain & lakes breakdown tomorrow, I'm worn out today. I will let you know that you have 3 airport options, Portland, Manchester, NH, & Boston. Boston would definitely be the most options, it's 2-3 hours away from wherever you would be staying in the region but that's the easiest, most beautiful stretch of interstate on the east coast and some of the recommendos I have for you will be on the way. Portland is closest, but Manchester is also very close, those two airports are indistinguishable.

Okay I'm Maine'd out right now, but I got you, I promise.

When I lived in Boston I would go up to Maine all the time.  Loved the crap outta that state.  Aroostook is my jam.

Would go to Baxter state park every Labor Day weekend.  Really fantastic spot.

Saw the most fantastic display of Northern Lights there ever, literally half of the entire sky looked like it was on fire with green flames, pretty trippy.

Bar Harbor/MDI is whatever but I can see why it's popular with tourists.

Some people don't get this thread.  Sad.

i hope there is a thread breaking down the tactical advantages of backing into parking spaces at QT

Would that go in the politics folder, or just general discussion?
