Kansas State Football / Re: Nebraska's struggle for relevance.
« on: September 11, 2023, 02:26:20 PM »
Back in the day, Nebraska was one of the few teams on TV every week.  This made it a destination for kids.  Now, you can watch anybody on TV...I can watch Washburn, Emporia St, Fort Hays, Pitt St. every week if I want to?!?

Nebraska doesn't have an advantage over K-State...Manhattan is a great college town!  Lincoln is a city that is very cool if you are from Nebraska.  The thing that hurts Nebraska University is that it is IN Nebraska.  Same thing that hurts K-State and KU is they are in Kansas.

It was nice when Nebraska was good.  I just don't think they will ever return back to being great every year for a decade.  They can put a few classes together and make a run to 10 wins and then will be back in the pack hoping to make a bowl.

I like the starters at Safety, but really concerned about the depth.  We need a blow-out on Saturday to get these guys some experience.

And we signed a Punter/Kicker!  Likely a PWO but it is a need.

RIP Pirate!  Didn't like facing his teams but a ton of respect for what he was able to accomplish.  Very sad.

Does Forrest still play for them?  Saw that dude on the television a while ago and he sure could run!

Depending who goes/stays of Beebe, Vaughn, Aduke and who chooses to have a Super Senior Season will significantly impact our 23 season.

Our OL could be 4 new starters or all 5 return.  This is a major concern for next year!  Same goes for DL, LB, WR  and CB (Boye Dow and Brentz may both go pro).  We are losing a ton of talent and experience!  Also losing our Punter and Kicker.

With a large group of Super Seniors taking advantage of Covid rule we can compete for the playoffs.  If everyone goes we may win 2 or 3 games next year...unless the depth is really good (unknown commodity)!

Bring home a Big 12 championship this year and sign a great class.  Will be an exciting December and January!

Just how many of the 'greatest' fans will be at memorial stadium next week(if the game goes south quickly)at the start of 4th Quarter?  Of course, the Nubs do a great job at keeping things close so who knows !

Adler retired from football a month or so ago.  Burton was cut by the Titans yesterday.  Sorry to hear about Rivas.

I believe Logan Robinson was 8-man.  Started some games for us on OL.

With Saturday's KU loss to Baylor, they are now 3 - 51 in Big 12 games since the start of the 2015 season.  They have been outscored in these games 903 to 2324.  During this time they have given up an average of 43 points per game!

And they were 3-48 in the 51 games before 2015..... so they are 6-99 in their last 105 B12 games? MY GOD

So what your saying is if Iowa State beats KU in two weeks...KU can make a claim to the fewest games to 100 losses in conference play?! This may be slightly worse than a rough patch.

VJ Payne from Georgia commits to K-State.  6.2 and 180.  Safety and may grow into a LB.  Welcome to the Cats!

Holcomb couldn't win the starting job at Florida A&M so left the team.

Howard will light it up next week.  His ascension starts against Nevada. :ksu:

With the KU loss last night they missed out on having their third 2-game winning streak since the 2010 season.

Excited to see the Cats in Arlington!  Of course I live in the Dallas Metro.   Understand the impact of taking a game from Manhattan, but this is a unique opportunity and we do have 7 remaining home games.  Also, if there are still seating restrictions in Manhattan then this is a big help to the budget.  Of course, big games in Manhattan with a full crowd are AWESOME!!!  Main thing is to WIN the DAMN GAME!

It seems like we are more often a loser in this transfer portal.  Time to bring in a few of these portal residents.

Palo Mao has talent and there is a lot of talent that never plays.  A few elite players can get by on talent, others require work and it sounds like this piece he was missing.  I hope he finds it so he doesn't say "what if" im 10 years.  I wish them all the best.

Isn't Sterling a twin?  If so, does his twin play?

With the new transfer rules it is more important than ever to have a QB recruit every year!  Look at OU, they have a 4 and 5 star recruits behind Hurtz and had the #1 QB in the country committed to them (just decommitted).  These kids want to play, if not at the first school then the second.  Look at Burrow, if he just sits on the bench at OSU and then gets a real job he loses millions.  Hate to see the kids transfer but understand it.

Need depth to bring out the best of the talent.

KU football for the Decade of 2010's.  How did it go?

UPDATED:

1.  21 W's and 99 L's (17.5% winning percentage)
2. Outscored 2308 to 4461.  Point differential of 2,153.
3. Longest winning streak was 2 games (did it twice).
     i. 2011 over McNeese State and N. Illinois (McNeese is a FCS school)
ii. 2018 over C. Michigan and Rutgers (both teams finished seasons with 1-11 records)
4. 9 Power5 wins in the decade.  Only 1 team* ended season with a winning record TCU in 2018 was 7-6
*Boston College is 6-6 going into their bowl game so could be 2.
5. KU won 6 Big 12 games at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence going 6-37.  K-State won 6 games at Memorial Stadium going 6-0.  LHC LHC Bill Snyder is the Head Coach who won the most Big 12 games at Memorial Stadium.
6. KU averaged 16.5 points against Big 12 opponents.
7. KU allowed 40.9 points against Big 12 opponents.
8. KU went 6-83 against Big 12 competition.
9. The 21 teams KU beat has a combined record of 99-156 in the season KU won (39% winning %).  Boston College still has one more game.
10.  KU was 2-51 on the road in the decade.  Beat Central Michigan (1-11) and Boston College (6-6)*

Quite the decade for KU football!  They do have Miles to Go.  Also, Beaty's 2018 team gave up an average of 35 points in Big 12 play; Miles' 2019 team gave up an average of 42.

We are now in the Big 10 and we will be dominate!  How is that working out?  3 years in a row without a bowl game.  Wow.

A once proud program lost its recruiting ground and young players realized NU is in Nebraska.

Did you know in the decade of the 2010's KU is 0-40 on the road against the Big 12!!!  KU has 2 more opportunities to drop the zero for a decade!  Go OSU and ISU!  Last road conference win was at ISU on 10/4/08 winning 35-33.  So they have already gone over a decade without a Big 12 conference road win, and may be 11 seasons by years end and the entire decade of the 2010's.

Miles took a couple of late Timouts with just over 1 minute to play.  Patterson willing to run out clock but Miles said to keep playing by taking TOs so Patterson did.  I agree.  If you don't concede then be willing to fight!  Miles was being disrespectful to TCU and Patterson called him on it and scored.

TCU doesn't owe it to KU to allow them time to practice their offense.
