Hey guys! Quick update on what everyone is wondering about...."How in the heck is Deez Nutz doin?"
Well, pretty good. Finally got my fat ass back in the gym yesterday and even started cardio! Went back today cause only 60% of my body was sore, and I'm an all or nothing kinda guy.
Anywho....guess who I ran into today dropping the kiddo off at the YMCA kids club?
Jesse freakin Eisenberg! I've been preparing for this for some time now and luckily had a speech ready which sounded an awful lot like "Ayyye! What's up man?"
To which he replied "Hey! Not much. How ya doin?"
So be jealous goEMAW, be very jealous. Me and my buddy Jesse bro'd down today with some deep thoughts and crayons underfoot.

Why is my name being invoked here?

You need to read the entire KU Football is Hurting thread.  Once you do, then and only then will you understand why.

THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T DO WHAT WE DID
LHC LHC Bill Snyder closed out his 26th season as Kansas State head coach last night, coming back with four unanswered touchdowns in the second half to beat UCLA 35-17 in the Cactus Bowl.  The former Iowa assistant is godlike in Manhattan, having built the program from quite literally nothing; attendance was so low before he arrived at KSU in 1989 that the program was threatened with moving to D-IAA or disbanding altogether.  The stadium is named after his family.

With his future as coach in question due to his age, it's Snyder's family that's a bit of a problem now.  Snyder has a perpetual contract, allowing him four years on the same terms going forward.  In other words, there is no negotiation pushing the issue of Snyder's retirement.  Snyder has done nothing to put his job in jeopardy, and could not be fired even if he did -- HIS FAMILY'S NAME IS ON THE STADIUM -- and he holds the absolute right to remain in the job for as long as he wants.  And Snyder has made it clear that he wants his son to have the head job when he retires.

Sean Snyder is the Kansas State associate head coach and special teams coordinator.  He started his collegiate football career as a punter at Iowa, moved to Kansas State with his dad in 1990, and was an all-American punter for Kansas State in 1993.  He has been an assistant on staff since 1994.  Sean Snyder has never called a play, and never been a serious candidate to leave the school.  As Sam Mellinger at the Kansas City Star pointed out last month, he would not be a serious candidate to be a head coach at any other program.

The previous athletics administration tried to short circuit the Snyder succession plan by hiring then-Colorado defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt as a coach in waiting.  Leavitt's resume would make him a more obvious choice for KSU: He's a former Wildcat assistant, he essentially built the USF program from scratch, and while he's had his share of scandal, his on-field track record is excellent.  Snyder would have none of it, not because Leavitt is unqualified or deficient, but because his name isn't Snyder.  Of course, there is another former Kansas State assistant on the market who has called plenty of plays and won a few more games than Sean Snyder.  Again, there is no sign that Snyder would allow Bret Bielema to take over should he step aside.  On Signing Day last week, Snyder was noncommittal about his future, clearly indicating that he'll wait until the coaching carousel has stopped long enough that Kansas State would have no choice but to promote Sean.

LHC LHC Bill Snyder announced Wednesday he is a definite maybe to be back at Kansas State next season.

In other words, a continuing example of how not to run a college football program on National Signing Day. Or perhaps more accurately -- a textbook example of how to take out that same program at the knees.

"I'm in the process [of deciding]," Snyder told reporters. "It will be a little bit."

The guess here is that Snyder -- the game's oldest coach -- absolutely knows whether he is coming back for a 27th season. But for reasons both petty and stubborn, he's stringing out his announcement.

Better for his agenda. Bad for K-State football. Really bad.

I'm not saying this is Iowa's situation.  For one, Brian Ferentz has now called some plays.  For another, Brian Ferentz did coach somewhere else for at least a few years.  But there is little doubt that Kirk Ferentz has the same unbreakable bargaining position as LHC LHC Bill Snyder -- Ferentz's created more by contract than reputation, but that contract was built on twenty years of stability and success -- and the same end goal.  Frankly, the same candidates at Kansas State would likely be in play at Iowa; both Leavitt and Bielema have ties to the program, though Leavitt's are obviously not as pronounced as having a Tiger Hawk tattoo.

I asked Twitter one day earlier this month if it would be OK with Ferentz retiring in January if it meant Brian Ferentz got the job:

The most common response was something like "Sure, because at least he could be fired if he was unsuccessful."  And that seems to be where Kansas State is headed at some point in the next few years, a move not toward the best candidate but toward some semblance of accountability from a coach for the first time in years.  And man, that's an uninspired reason to make a hire.  But watch KSU closely over the next few weeks (and, if Snyder doesn't leave, the next few years), because it could be a look at our future.

He's not wrong

Yes he is wrong.  Snyder's AA season was 1992, not 1993.

Has anyone ever coached both basketball and football in college?  Junior High coaches do it all the time.  Seems to work.

There was this guy named Mike Ahearn who coached the Kansas State Agricultural College Aggies in football, basketball, and baseball for five years from 1905 to 1910 and had a winning record in all three sports.  In doing so he won two conference championships in football and one in basketball.  He has the second-most football wins in Kansas State history at 39 and still has the school's highest winning percentage (.765).  He had a 10-1 season in 1910 (which I contend KSU should claim as a national championship).  Oh and when he got tired of coaching he became the athletics director for 27 years from 1920 to 1947.  He seemed to work out well for KSAC.

Fire get rid of everyone and use the endowment as the football piggy bank to do this right? Assuming Girod can make the right decisions

Been trying to post for awhile. My friend is a ref who ref's practices of the 3 local teams. Here is his comments he shared with me.

As you know I go to practices at Mizzou, K-State, and KU.

Snyder runs a tight, on schedule ship at K-State. They say they are going to work on on-side kick recovery from 4:12p-4:18p – that is what they do without fail. All day long like that- specific objectives covered. Players and coaches move quickly.

Mizzou is getting better- clearly this new coach knows how to run and plan a practice. They fly around with purpose and are getting better. Coaches coach, players play, everyone is on point.

Now on to KU…….They ask us to be on-site at 3:45, ready to go at 4:00pm. We are ready to go. If we are lucky, they stop putzing around/stretching/throwing deep bombs/jacking aroud about 4:20p. Oh yes, usually at this point Beatty or a couple of his assistants start asking us about what wasn’t called last Saturday- this can be 3 minutes or 20 minutes. Around 4:20-4:30 then they chose to focus on pass routes in the end zone, and inefficiently at that. We do that for 10-20 minutes until Doug Meachem & Kenny Perry almost get into a fistfight over who is supposed to be doing what. HC Beatty told us that #3 Chase Harrell is the next Randy Moss-Jerry Rice……well…..I will let his stats speak for themselves. We then usually kick a variety of field goals and extra points. This process is like surgery at K-State and Mizzou, …..KU…well…..you can guess- struggle to get the right players in the right position. Joe DeForest looks out of his depth at a D-1 program. I’m not sure how Oklahoma State and West Virginia hired him. More about him later. We then typically then run some sort of Team O ….maybe 1’s versus 2’s or some variation of that. This continues the trend of pass routes to Harrell #3, and Sims #11. Sometimes it’s a successful play, sometimes not. Trick plays are smattered in there as well.

Oh and I forgot to mention something…..this staff does not have contact practices. At least not on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. I find this odd. Do you think the MAC schools go zero contact? Trick question…..they go full contact 2x a week. I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that zero attention is paid to OL & DL players. Read that last sentence again. They just kinda loiter around and drink Gatorade.

Back to practice…..we typically continue to work 7 on 7. QB’s and WR’s running routes if you don’t know what that is. And they will run that for 20-30 minutes. At this point usually someone bitches at the kid running the drone filming practice, and they have on occasion took the controls from him and flown it instead of coaching. I will not name names, but it is highly paid coaches doing this. If I was Dr. Doug Girod and saw this I would fire them on the spot.

Back to “practice” - at this point, usually around 5:15 or so there is a water break, and everyone moves from the practice field to Kivisto Field. Usually music is blasting, and the hangers on show up- various alumni, boosters, etc. This is when HC Beatty and STC DeForest really shine. Kickoff and Kickoff return. An absolute disaster. 10-20 minutes into this session, maybe get a kick off in , maybe not. We all watch this trainwreck for seemingly hours…..this is time no one will ever get back. Assuming they do 3-4 regular kickoffs, 2-3 onside kicks, and 3-4 mock kick returns (remember- no contact- zero)- at this point we go back to 11 on 11 and you guessed it, passing game- deep routes and trick plays. This is typically where Kenny Perry bitches at us for not calling offensive pass interference on #3 Harrell and #11 Sims. His poor D-Backs don’t stand a chance per him. It would be a foul if the QB put the ball anywhere near either player, which is not a certainty. Practice usually ends unceremoniously on a completed pass & we are dismissed. We get our money and hit the road.

Also of note, when Haskell Indian Nation University football went tits up, you would think that would adversely effect some people, right?. Negative, they just walked up the street to KU and were put to work. Various people of various skills, mental aptitude, and physical abilities doing various things. Water, Balls, equipment. You name it, they are doing it. This might be the best thing happening at KU Football right now- putting special needs people to work. I am all for that.

It’s a beautiful dream. Harbaugh gets ran out of Michigan, our new and improved AD goes and gets him at a reasonable price. He turns the program around while we come up with new renditions and renovate the stadium into a damn chapel fit for the football gods. After we get back on track, Andy Reid retires and Harbaugh takes over the job and is an immense success. We hire his brother and keep rolling on and the Lawrence/KC football connection is all the rage in National News... They sell beer in our new epic stadium and we become the cheerleading Mecca that USC is... Anybody want to add to this fantasy?

We've known for some time now that Zenger is a secret agent for KSU, but this is the first I'm hearing that Weis may have been a super secret agent as well.   :surprised:

Weis had to be some super secret agent from mizzou or purple-eff nation. He mumped us over more profoundly than NCAA sanctions could ever have done. And SZ just stood by and let him do it. Then BGL gave extensions and raises to everyone and here we are.

NEWS FLASH. BREAKING:
KU has made it past the 50 yard yard line for the first ime today with about 10 minutes to go in the 4Q.
NOTE: Drive started at KU 47

It is just comical. All I can do is laugh. I can't even get mad about it anymore.

Bring Back Terry Allen!!!!!

Stay classy, plowboy. Ames Iowa is THE armpit of the Midwest. And you know it.

Discussion about Terry Allen:

Quote
Biggest difference I see is TA had no control of his players at all. They were sleeping on the bench on the sidelines. Yes, starters were literally asleep on the sidelines when the other side of the ball was playing. They showed up to games drunk. They jumped through drive-thru windows, etc. and TA never did a damned thing to get on top of any of that.
:surprised:

Here's a few gems for you guys.  Enjoy!

Quote
What were the odds that we would find a worse coach than either Gill or Weis?
I mean those two are Vince Lombardi compared to this horseshit.

Gill has 4 conference titles since leaving KU.

These guys are not D1 coaches or players, someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed.
Cancel the remaining games.
What a joke.

Lol, they go punt block and STILL run it back for a TD.
eff KU football. Im done.

Can these stats be correct? ISU has 1 first down, 31 yds total offense, and is up 14-0?

I kind of hate the team now though. These LOSERS don't deserve fans. They don't play hard, have low football IQ, have bad coaching and the admin lets it all happen. I know they are getting routed today, because they are LOSERS.

On the plus side I saved money on my car insurance.

Making ISU look like the steel curtain.

This team has officially given up. Feel bad for dineen and a couple of others. Otherwise I say someone start slashing tires in the AD parking lot.

I literally just laughed hysterically for 30 seconds.

Wonder if Zenger is listening on the radio in his Camry during the rain delay in Manhattan?

KU is showing a balanced attack. 20 yds. rushing and 20 yds. passing at the half.

Repeal and replace this coaching staff

I miss the Gill years.

I miss the Terry Allen years.

It makes me long for the days of Dayne Crist.

" right the ship"?? Beaty couldn't flip a kayak right side up in a swimming pool.

Honest question, is this rock bottom?

Is 1 yard per passing attempt bad?

KU has not crossed the 50 yard line today against the nation's 84th ranked defense.
Hit the bricks, Beaty.

Becoming bowl-eligible will be an uphill challenge at this point... need to go 5-1 over the last 6 games.

If we got 7 points per first down, we’d only be down 10.

Lol Iowa States 4th string qb is better than our starters.

From ESPN:
Quote
Kansas: The Jayhawks had more turnovers (two) than plays from scrimmage (one) after they muffed a punt and threw a pick -- and things actually got worse from there.
Kansas, which gained just 40 yards on 30 plays in the first half, looked like a team destined to finish winless in the Big 12.

Listening to the radio at halftime with the Clones up 24-0 and it goes something like this:
"The good news is that there is plenty of time to get back into this game and it's still just a 3-score game if you factor in 2-point conversions."

There is no way this MAC team has better athletes across the board. We have a dickless offense and a soft defense. That is on coaching and development.

I'm just sad. I don't know what else to say, I had hopes of showing progress this year but I'm emotionally detaching myself from this. And it's only the third game.

Don't mean to be negative, guys, but barring a major comeback here this pretty much eliminates us from the four team playoff. One loss you've got a chance, but not with two.

David Beaty is a rough ridin' moron. Have any of you heard him speak? He is a cheerleader type, and was never a coordinator. A rah rah position coach. He is totally outclassed and puts our guys in terrible positions. And when we do win, lkfe the fumble-gift win from Texas, he cries out of sheer shock. We will go 1-11. And those of you defending this program right now make me want to puke. It's like you hate KU amd enjoy losing. eff all of you.

Hell, if Iowa State can be competitive, why in the name of Zeus' butthole can't we? But we've had this conversation, year after year, coach after coach. We've tried to rationalize each decision, speculated on what route to take next, and then take things back to the drawing board. Rinse and repeat.

My friends and family think I'm crazy for continuing to follow and support this hot garbage, and I'm getting to the point where I really can't defend it anymore. I've never been more embarrassed as a fan and a KU alum than I was on Saturday.

The season is over by all accounts.
