The big projects for KSU have been West Stadium ($81 M) and the new Vanier Complex ($65 M). Between those two and other Football stuff, we are probably Around $150 Million "behind." However, Those two projects brought facilities up to the level (And in some areas surpassed) what Kansas already had. So it is hardly a fair comparison.

Their new Vanier complex is their main Athletic Department facility, so it should be better compared to the Anderson Strength Complex, Wagnon Student-Athlete Center, and everything else behind AFH. Kansas has and still has world class facilities available to all student athletes. Kansas State just entered out level. So compare that to our current Football Facility, and the current Student Athlete facilities behind AFH. Their new facility has the "new" feel, and it is very nice, but Kansas has had comparable facilities for years. New stuff always has the "fresh coat of paint" but no one should feel that we are horribly behind on that. They just happen to put theit facility by the Football stadium, and it has gained the benefit of that proximity.

Has this guy seen their facilities?

and i dont mean not to be proactive but we cant just go pick up garbage schools to try and hold on to p5 status

Definitely, I don't know if you saw my post a few pages back about snagging FSU and Clemson maybe more if the SEC takes a couple from the ACC when the GOR is up but i definitely agree. I think the B12 waters down the conference and further kills the conference's perception by adding anything other than a big name school.

6
umm yeah actually we prove that time and time again in bowl games. its okay tho because none of this even matters at this point

True enough, like chingon pointed out, numbers are what matter. Viewers, and size of the state basically.

7
whats wrong with it slim?
well comparing ou/texas/baylor to ohio state/wisconsin/michigan state for starters.

you don't think that TCU, Baylor, and OU were on par with OSU, Wisconsin and MSU?

My point is that the top of our conference is about even with the big 10 but they have a huge amount of schools that don't compete whatsoever
not even rough ridin' close. those three teams in the big 10 are combined 97-23 the last three years and thats with a 7-6 season in 2012 by msu. ohio state has lost three games total in the last three years. only alabama can be mentioned with them and ou has sucked lately. minnesota is better and iowa would finish 5th in the big 12. you're giving to much credit to teams in our bottom half. the big 10 is simply better overall

Im not sayin powerhouse teams that compete every single year, I'm saying each year our top 3 could easily run with their's. So it wouldn't be the same 3 every year. I just used OSU, MSU, wisconsin and then Baylor TCU and Oklahoma/K-State because I thought they were the 3 best from each conference last year.

The teams in our conference are much less consistent but I don't think the best are any worse year to year.

i gotcha chingon, i thought you meant competitively.

But yeah, when it comes to viewers and pop you're definitely right.

Prob Stanford. Run a pro style offense so hello NFL, amazing education if that doesn't work out, compete for championships, amazing weather,
great coach, it has just about everything.

Who am i kidding if k-state is at all competitive i'd probably go there. The heart wants what it wants

The Big XII is an irrelevant conference in CFB, it is now essentially a beefed up Mountain West and clearly a step behind the SEC, Big Ten, the ACC (with the addition of ND), and Pac 12.   Like the Mountain West, WAC, MAC, and C-USA a team from the Big XII will need to be undefeated and get very very lucky to get into the playoff. Could happen once every couple decades maybe (not that it will because the soon enough major CFB will be closed off to teams outside the Big 4 conference).

OU and Texas are smart to look to land in a conference that matters (even at the cost of having less "power").

The only thing that really matters is football and the Big 12 is absolutely better than the ACC in football, as well as the Big 10. The problem with these bigger conferences is that they have so many pud schools. Take the Big 10 for example, the 14 teams in the conference include (think about football) illinios, iowa, indiana, maryland, minnesota, northwestern, purdue, and rutgers. These 8 teams are in no way better than a texas tech or oklahoma state for instance.

Michigan and penn state are big names, but recently they simply haven't been competing at a high level.

Then you have Nebraska, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. Admittedly good teams, but not really more so than Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, and maybe K-State the past few years.

They may have 1 more good team, but over half of the conference is complete garbage.

12
No lie, I love this conference. It makes me sad everyone doesn't feel that way. No rough ridin' way I want to play teams from fat away lands.

Yup, and if you ever listen to NU or MU fans that were around during the Big 8 years they all agree it goes Big 8>Big 12> new conference

It shocks me they haven't figured out the grass isn't always greener.

As to OU, can you imagine how there superiority complex would do in a conference with Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Florida or with Ohio State Michigan etc.?

Oh and in the PAC 12 their big games are starting so late most of the nation doesn't care to watch and most of the schools don't really care about football.

If they make a move, I can guarantee they won't be happy no matter where they go.

13
From what I understand, the SEC wants UVA and UNC because they're lookin to grab as many east coast states as possible to expand its footprint.

Apparently, the Florida State and Clemson to Big 12 rumors weren't BS during the last round of realignment.

Because of this, I think if the Big 12 can hold off on inviting smaller schools and last until the GOR is up for the ACC, they could grab FSU and Clemson or just merge with the 6 best remaining ACC schools after the SEC poaches UVA and UNC.

Not likely considering Boren and OU are gettin antsy because they've been struggling the last few years. If they were winning the conference and goin to the CFP you wouldn't hear any of this from OU.

KU actually has a very nice video board, that's a little bigger than the one we are putting in now.   We should emulate KU's configuration for the new South Videoboard whenever that happens.

Actually, KU's is 28 x 85 or 2380 sq. ft. and our's will be 39 x 67 or 2613 sq. ft., so boom, we win by over 200  :emawkid:

I hope this isn't true, but the flythrough for the VFC on the kstatesports website makes it look like there might be less seating in the NEZ than the renderings show.

Hope they didn't cut it down but at the 28 second mark it looks like the small sections on the outside won't be there.

I feel like my seats may be too good to see it.

I heard the first 12 rows on both sidelines just see the powercat on the bottom when you look up at the scoreboard from those seats
wow that's terrible

There's no way. This pic looks like you could see it pretty well in the first 3 rows.

Quick question, does anyone have an idea what will be in the NE corner of the stadium when the Vanier Football Complex is done?

None of the pics on kstatesports or elsewhere have indicated.

I think it will be another video board above some terraces like the NW corner...this all will be completed a year later than the NE corner and the Vanier building tho.

Oops, now I can see how you read that. I probably should have been more specific.

I meant like the building under the terraces in that corner. The equipment room and coaches locker room are under the terraces in the NW corner so I was just wondering what was gonna be on the other side.

Visitor's locker room?

How hard would getting Nebraska to come back be?
cu would be a better bet. We really did eff up not taking Louisville or byu

good grief, nobody mumped up by not adding garbage'y byu
so you wouldn't take byu over tcu or ku right now?

Would def take. BYU brings a big fanbase, lots of tv's.

And as a bonus, I hear Mormons are nice.  :D

That's hilarious that we are hoping to land some hillbilly from a 2A school in Kansas   Jesus rough ridin' Christ, at least Josh Reid was good.  Roll out the rough ridin' Copenhagen for this kid this weekend I guess....jesus christ

Yeah, I can't believe we've stooped so low as to recruit a fringe top 100 player in the nation.

The talent that oscar has committing and showing legitimate interest in the program is unreal.

Considering our current roster and his recruiting, it looks like Weber's gonna do some great stuff here if we can keep this staff together.

In a few years, Weber might be able to change his name to oscar Banner.

Quick question. I've been getting jacked for football to start and watching some K-State football vids. Anyway, does anyone remember the video that went to this Eric Thomas speech?

I've been looking on youtube forever and can't find it.

TIA guys.
