Well dang that’s a bummer.  :Ugh:

What is the wrong way?  Serious question.

Well Pete I don’t know what the wrong way is... but if you tried to put together a compilation of all the pressers where Bill Self discussed doing things the right way, it would be a v short compilation, is what I’m trying to say

impossible to say, b/c he digs a hole and buries the bodies just as fast. but he also buries a bunch of other stuff too. Who is going to check every one? sometimes its a dead body, other times...tv remote. good luck w/ all that.

This day we learned that the color of vindication is royal purple. Or if not royal purple then definitely one of its hughes

That top of the 7th might end up being the most 1/Mets things that will happen this season

It would be a brilliant marketing tactic by the local Jeep dealer if not for the fact that the maga dipcrap that now wants to buy a jeep to own the libs has neither the money for a new Jeep nor the necessary amount of PTO to take it on a proper excursion.

It’s that what basketball courts used to look like? I’m starting to think that maybe what happened was one day the good Doctor Naismith was doodling some fresh dongs and someone saw and was like “are...are those dicks?” And he was like “what?! No, it’s...uh, it’s a new game I invented, its called...basketball. Now build a museum and put this drawing in it. Wait, no, not this exact drawing. Make a copy of it, and put the copy in the museum. To reiterate: I definitely wasn’t drawing cranks.”

Those other factors you mentioned would affect other rolls and pin placements too, so I guess every bowling achievement involves some degree of luck.
Everything except dead simple spares (where the margin for error is pretty huge), yes.  I'm not sure if E.A.R.L. can bowl 300s consistently, for example.  E.A.R.L. can consistently pick up a 5 pin or a 1-3 spare (for example) though.

I mean, you can definitely set up EARL to throw the ball such that it hits the pocket at a 6 degree angle and theoretically that shot could be repeated every time...i'm sure they've probably tested it but i'm curious how often EARL can throw a 300, but i'd guess its upwards of 97% of the time

Anyone else watched Them on Amazon prime? Has a very lovecraft country feel to it (good old timey 1950s racism paired with a bunch of paranormal activity) but doesn’t have that HBO budget. I’m 3 epis in... will continue to watch, interested to see where they are going with it

The dude (non glasses) in that one looks like Bill Self.
I thought it was Daniel Tosh.

watched some youtube video where they made a bowling robot so they could try to figure out the science behind picking up a 7-10 and they concluded that there is no reliable way to do it because the only way to pick it up is for the pin to careen off one of the surrounding surfaces so literally the only way to pick it up is to get a lucky bounce.

also in the vein of the baseball analogy, i learned the other day that while perfect games are rare...even more rare is the immaculate inning (as in the pitcher strikes out all 3 batters in 9 pitches)

I remember in the 2015 All Star game Jacob deGrom struck out the side in 10 pitches, threw 1 ball, so close.

for real thing i think would make golf more exciting for the viewer:
they had a 5th major...but they make it a centennial throwback. So folks what i mean by that is anyone playing in that major is restricted to using only the technology that was available 100 years prior. I mean sure, its fun to watch guys hammer 330+ yd drives and execute a fade or draw with absolute precision but i think it would be fun to see them up there with some wooden shafted irons where the balls have the dimples inverted and they are just trying to do their best with super obsolete technology.

and of course the character arcs. like Rory just being a total dick all the time and everyone hates him but then after the 18th hole at the US Open on Sunday, bad boy Bubba Watson sinks the winning putt, both remove their hats/visors and shake hands...but then Rory kicks Bubba in the stomach and gives him a stone cold stunner. Back to hero status. beloved by all. nobody even cares that he just lost the belt he can still get up on the top turnbuckle and everybody is going to lose their effing minds

wtf would need to change?

for starters, golf needs villains. Let's just admit that part of the reason we love sports is because we hate the heel. For the spectators, its more fun b/c you don't just have to clap all the time you can boo and hiss. The heel has so many opportunities...he can be walking to the next tee box and pull his hand back before giving someone a high five. He can autograph a ball for a kid but instead of giving it to the kid, turn around and throw it into the middle of water hazard. he sinks a clutch putt and tells the crowd to suck it.

I don’t know why I let myself get excited. I’ve seen this movie a thousand times. Jake is going to pitch a masterpiece and they are going to lose. It is the way of the universe

6 or 7 runs and we’ll be right back in this thing

22
Well more bc of the blown call. Conforto 100% threw his elbow out to get hit by strike 3. I know it’s not reviewable whether or not the player leaned into the pitch but it felt like a dirty way to win

sounds like he has known for a while that this day was coming. and all of his maga friends are going full on loki "i've never met this man in my life" meme. Like I don't think he is going to get a pardon b/c he is quickly becoming radioactive, nobody wants to touch that.

7 really good innings and then right on queue they poop their pants. McNeil looked really good at the plate just was unlucky. I love/hate this stupid team
That bullpen is still poop.

I am getting concerned about the sloppy play of the infielders, especially up the middle where we should be stronger.

Lindor will start hitting I am sure, but his ABs so far haven't looked great.

agreed, for as much as the bullpen improvement was hyped up this spring...i'm not really seeing it. Starters gunna have to go 7. Leaving way too many guys on base so far. Lindor has flashed some leather but has also goofed a couple times to offset the good stuff. Jeff has been fine at 2B so far imo.

also chingon idk if you saw this afternoon's game...if you didn't then i won't spoil it for you but i'm not sure how i feel about that ending.
