What is "Furg"?
Our last AD's name was Ron Guenther. He kept Weber around and even gave him raises within the last 3 yrs before he was fired. He also gave oscar the ridiculous contract that is paying oscar 1.2 mil per yr the next 3 yrs while he is coaching your team..So, someone came up with FURG, which is eff U Ron Guenther, instead of using his name in passing.

Wait for a few more years when oscar installs his "culture" upon KSU BBall. Your players will become complete whiners after every foul called on them and will suddenly shy away from contact. The best is yet to come!!!

I want oscar Pearl.  So whatever scenario makes getting him more realistic (even though by nature it will be inherently unrealistic) is what I'm down for.  I'd imagine we'll have to atleast suffer through next year.  And more than likely 2 more years.  Aug 23, 2014 is the date his probation or whatever is over.
Pearl is a compulsive cheater. He would have KSU on probation in no time. You guys are better then that POS.

link?
Why do you think he isnt coaching right now lol? Sorry if I seem to not like the guy...He only put Illinois basketball on probation and set us back about 10 years....

You come here with a lot of bad news Mr. Bread.  :dunno:
lol just an opinion man. I think Ive ran across that Mr Bread guy a time or two ;)

NO transition baskets. NOT ONE easy score. No change of pace on defense to throw them out of rythym. Apathy will set in , and we're not to mid-jan.
You will never see these things during your "Weber era".

what would firing him cost us?  Whats the buyout?
It's costing Illinois over 3 million...Think about that for a second. Illinois is paying Weber over 3 million to NOT coach the team lol.

Don't buyouts usually only extend until they have found a new job?  Or was the buyout of thinking of a unique situation? (Also, I can't remember which buyout I'm thinking of.)
Illinois has to pay Weber 1.2 mil for the next 3 years I believe. So he is currently one of the highest paid coaches in basketball, with our money and your's combined, for the next few years..Our last AD was a rough ridin' idiot..Seems like he and Currie would be good buddies.

There is a reason that Weber has been called Dreamkiller by some x players of his...

please elaborate
Weber has this ability to turn really good offensive players into crap because of his "system" that requires 30 seconds to be ran off the shot clock to find a "good shot". This leads to low scoring games and low scoring averages which leads to no impressive stats and no NBA career.

From what I saw tonight, Rodney's stock is falling and it's the system's fault, not his. Not only does the system basically force the players into the crappiest shots in basketball (long 2 pters), it also requires the entire team buying in and working hard on offense to get other guys open shots. If one guy isnt doing this, it wont work. You guys currently have 3 to 4 guys not doing this so Rodney doesnt get open. Not only that, but the fact that they are just trying to figure this mind boggling offense out means that every one of them is more then likely over thinking. If you'd like to learn a little more about this awesome offense, check out this link. Weber's Motion It shows how Weber literally puts "motion" boxes on the practice floor to show players where to stand and to go. It basically can turn players into robots.

If Weber gives them the fist speech before the game, that should motivate them to the victory.

#23, #33, and #32 are jersey numbers that should all be retired. #23 would be at the top though.

Bye bye.

what would lead you to use such a positive word when describing oscar?

he's done good things and bad things.  it's really hard to do as well as he has at times in his career, i don't think it is likely that he just had a run of good luck.  i also don't think that his failures were runs of poor luck.  but there may be more space between bad and weber, or even mediocre and weber, than some here are eager to admit.

i've posted many times that i think it is highly improbable that currie would have hired a better coach than weber, had he hired someone else.  my discontent is not that he hired weber, but that he ran off a better coach in order to do so.

Good post. I agree that its not either good/bad luck.

To me last year's Weber was even more bizarre because it was so much like Mangino's last year at KU.

They were 15-3/4-1, ranked in the Top 25 (in January) and coming off a win over a Top 10 team (OSU) that ended up going to the final 4. Even beat another Top 10 team a couple weeks later (MSU). Then completely fell apart.
It wasn't that bizarre to an Illini fan. We played like crap in many of the games that we won up until that point where we started losing. The OSU game was a victory only because Paul went off that night and could not be stopped (It was an anomaly). The MSU game was laughable. We won, but Green got injured and MSU missed at least 25 layups. Besides our awesome 38 - 33 loss to Penn State at home in 08, it was by far one of the worse college basketball games I've probably ever witnessed..The score was 42 - 41. Most Illini fans last year knew the wheels were going to fall off sooner or later. We just never passed the "eye test" even in games we won. I hope BAM does well for KSU, but he is really stubborn and is going to piss you guys off a lot. His ingame coaching drove me absolutely bat crap crazy lol. Needless to say, I dont miss him.

Congrats all Illinois fans!

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Kendrick-Nunn-113785

You're a good dude.

We get Jackson (ND and IL) and/or XRM (FSU and IL) and I might be able to finally move on from Bruceketball.  Like winning the lottery after you got sexually assaulted (no penetration).

Everything I've heard it will be Jackson and XRM. Who's the forward? You need a forward.
We have a decent group already, but if we were to get XRM and DJamer (pretty sure we are at least getting DJamer) then the following year there are some pretty big fish in ILL to go after. Keita Bates Diop and Cliff Alexander will certainly be on the Illini staff's radar.

hey illini bad person, take your condescending crap to some other board.  everyone here recognizes that weber is a shittier coach than martin.  some people choose to support him anyways, based on party loyalty and a shared group identity.  they're rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) nazis, but even they don't need your arrogant, stats-for-morons, humble elitist posts trying to educate us about basketball.  so eff off.
You shouldnt support him anyways. Support your school and team, sure, but never let the coach catch a break if it's not deserved. He is paid way too much money for that. Many Illini fans did the same thing. That is why it took 9 yrs to get rid of the guy. It literally took a year of booing him (at our own place mind you) to get the point across. You guys have a couple years  before the wheels fall off and oscar gets his guys in here so at least you have something going for you lol.

This is Weber's mean face. I bet it scared the refs into throwing him out of the game
