Yeah, but I mean, he didn't even go No. 1 overall.  Kijana Carter, Bid Duddy Wilkinson, I mean, I could probably list nothing but Bengals and have a good list.

I'm tempted to go with Mandarich, personally.  If you're stuck on QBs, I agree, Leaf is easily Top 5, but no slam dunk either.  Smith was AWFUL and failed out on talent alone.

sounds like crap.  if my wife tried to serve me slop out of a slow-cooker her i wouldn't be able to find the door soon enough. sorry you have to deal with this crap, of course- you are a dumbass so who knows, maybe you like this crap.  dumbass.

Jealousy noted.  How's lunch when you have to make it yourself?  Oh yeah, it's salt-free.
hrm...lets see here.  the women is supposed to take the time to cook you a healthy and delicious meal.  instead she buys the cheapest peice of crap pork she can (and uses whatever is left for clothes shopping), throws it into a crock pot, goes and spends the left over coin, then gets home after probably drinking a bunch of wine coolers with her buddies while you're out earning a living, then she shreads the pork and throws some cabbage on it and you just soak it up.  good luck with that crap dumbass.

If you don't know how to use a slow cooker that's okay -- the rest of us will enjoy and laugh at you.

The best way for the Big 12 to be proactive may be to announce its own network, ala the Big 10.  That might be enough incentive to keep the status quo intact - heck, the Mountain West has its own station, why not the Big 12?  Otherwise, you're looking at embracing basketball and running with it, Big East style (bring in Memphis, Louisville etc.) or becoming the dregs of the NCAA (Mountain West here we come!).

I like all 3 of these options :dunno:

I like the first two.

These are honestly my favorite threads on the board.  Not sure what that says about me.   :surprised:

7
They should just raise the # of teams every few years to not piss off tards.

This is what will keep happening.  We now have four "play-in" games.  Within another 6 years it will go up to 8.  Then 16.  Then 32.  And so on.

This current news is a win-win-win for WRFF.  CBS basically keeps the thing (they won't muck it up like ESPN would), the tournament keeps its "eliteness" factor, and I get more games to boot.  Good times.

TBS factor?

Am guessing it's TBS in name only and they end up farming over CBS broadcast types/equip/mastery to keep the production value high.

At least I hope so.   :runaway:

There are plenty of QBs that went first overall that totally sucked, so they'd deserve the title by default seeing as how Leaf was a No. 2.  Also, I fail to see how Leaf was any worse than Akili Smith.  Or Todd Marinovich for that matter.

Pretty much the best meal I've ever had.

The dude is massive

That wasn't the problem.  The problem is I am deaf as hell and I didn't know he had insulted the wifey until later.

He's pretty much your average crap-talker though.  Not a whole lot to set the dude apart from most of the athletes I've interacted with -- though he is pretty immature.  He drank wine to try to impress me.  I was like, "Shock, don't be drinking that stuff unless you know what it is."  He responded by challenging my wife to a history match, which she won emphatically.

In conclusion, Miami still sucks.   :lynchmob:

Staples weighs in:

So let's say the SEC want to go to 16.  Is it a lock they take OU?  I kind of look at them as being a package deal with OSU.  Plus, you'd think the ACC would be fair game as well, meaning the infighting in Texas should UT and aTm bolt and leave the others behind would be tremendous (I'm guessing this is what happens if the SEC goes to 14 anyway).

I don't think you do.

Russell: Iowa, Texas Tech, SMU (visited all 3), Fla St, OU, UCLA.

 :users:

And Nino has always been 11, until recently finding out he may have to move it up.

Ah, got it turned around.

 :bang:

14
Also, in checking Rivals to confirm Nick Russell thing, noticed Nino has been moved to '11.  Anyone want to take a guess as to which class he actually ends up in?  :dunno:

15
Cook tweeted that his first two visits will be UK and 'Zona.  :frown: Not feeling good.

sounds like teague to uk.  unexpected boost to kstate's slim-to-none shot at cook.

Does this not also make K-State the fav for Boatright?

I don't think so.  Since VaTech and FSU are interested, that would require us to beat out a high-major team that can get to the postseason, something the staff has never done for anyone outside of DCA.

K-State beat out FSU for Russell, if I remember correctly.

Would be funny if it was the Gorilla drummer from Showbiz Pizza

wow, great post

ditto

Sugar Dick is fast becoming a highly valued member of the board.  Plus, his name gives people an excuse to type "Sugar Dick" over and over.

First thing I thought when reading this was geeking out over a potential all-Canada battle at pg when we face Tejas in the CTR next year.  Sadly, methinks their recruit (should they sign him) may trump ours.  :frown:

18
Since the demise of the Big12 is pretty much a given, lets get a jump on everyone else.  Some posters around here are beating around the bush, so I will just come out and way it: goEMAW needs to be the one to forge the logo and motto trail.  So the contest will be to:

Design our new (mid? I don't think mid will quite capture it, maybe pseudo? or quasi?) major conference.  Include the teams involved (try to be a little realistic, but you don't have to, just do what you want.  I don't care).  Name said conference.  Design the new logo, it should reflect the quality of the conference and evocative of the name.  Finally, you need to include the new conference slogan.

The winner -- as chosen by a secret panel of judges -- will get a super prize not limited to or exceeding a fake trophy and/or certificate.  Maybe t-shirt with said logo, member logos around it, and the new slogan.  Yes I think a t-shirt will be the prize.  The contest is over when the secret panel of judges says so.

Blog post?

Either raid the Big East or go with the guys that play here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Bowl_Memorial_Stadium

+1 Memphis has twice the students as TCU, so I'm assuming twice the fanbase? Why don't we want them again?

It would be dumb to abandon the TVs to the East because of travel concerns and/or being scared of the Big 10/SEC.  Bring in some combination of Memphis/Louisville/Cinci and you:

A. Improve your TV footprint
B. Drastically improve the quality of basketball played in the conference
C. Bump travel costs up somewhat, but you're doing that with Mountain West scrubs anyway
D. Lessen the damage done to football competitiveness
E. Keep this from becoming the "Super Texas Conference"

Just rearrange the divisions some and you're good to go.   :driving:

I would LMAO if that happened.  Sean hasn't even had a job in his entire life.

Personal theory?  Sean=ADIW

Probably more frightening, all things considered.

When he came in vs. OU in '04 and started dominating (hitting Figurs everywhere). Thought we had a chance for the upset. Then reality set in. :frown:

That's mine too.

Somewhat off topic:  Should mod-types be proactive in these cases and pre-sort two threads - one classless, one somewhat better - so that folks don't have to read certain stuff?  This thread is pretty damn meager.

No, we're not babysitters.

Cool.  Less work.   :pbj:

there's some guesswork here, and a lot of slop.  because we never get enough info, and because the staff team recruits.  but here's a guess.

Beas - te420k
Pullen - te420k, martin
F. Brown - martin (but i think one of the assistants had a lot to do with brown.  don't have the link handy, and i don't recall that it was clear which asst.)
R. Anderson - te420k
Sutton - te420k
Samuels - te420k
Gilbert - underwood
Buchi - figger, underwood
Abdul - martin
Kelly - martin
Clemente - martin
McGruds - te420k, shingler
Wally - shingler, te420k
Irving - martin, but the comment on brown may also apply
Russell - figger, martin (might be martin, figger)
JHR - martin
Asprilla - martin
Southwell - martin
Sprads - with locals, it's so different, i'm not sure there is much point in giving credit to any individual coach.
Maple Leaf - unknown.  martin, underwood, figger are all logical for jucos, but kstate has also had some interest in several grassroots canada players now, and we don't know who has that contact.  it's probably martin, but who knows.
Nino - see spradling

Order of recruiting levels:

1. Frank: consistently tries.  Has contacts in numerous areas.  Brought in the only decent prospects post Huggins and not DCA, but doesn't have the charm to be an elite recruiter.

big drop

God bless that man.  He's running a one-man operation and it's going to kill him, but he's doing it for us.    (in a good way)

Any chance we can recruit Blaster over here to coach us up on the finer points of being a FB god?

Also his poster intimidation is unorthodoxed but effective (i.e. calling people internet pukes and listing bench/squat maxes seems to get in peoples heads)

just a though

He wears people down through sheer annoyance.  If we need to cull the herd, he'd be an effective weapon.
