Is this all being released again because our administration is trying to get out in front of Tang leaving?
occam’s razor

In other words:

I assume this is pres trying to remind tang that he doesn’t want him here.

For those who don’t have their Bibles memorized (couldn’t be me):

Quote
Faithful are the wounds of a friend,
But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Also I have no idea what that means.
I think most Bible -readers take it to mean something along the lines of "It is better to have a friend tell you something that is true but hard to hear than to be flattered by an enemy." In this context, I think his meaning is "I'm thankful that I have friends who point me toward the right path."
Just my $0.02.

The friend is Tang.  The hard truth is that it's time for them to GTFO of Manhattan before the east-coast academic with little man syndrome sitting in the university president's office makes it impossible for them to succeed here.  Or that it's already too late.

See what happens when you let Pac idiots into your conference.  I'd have expected this of Michael Crow and I blame his influence for Linton apparently having developed a very acute case of cranial-rectal inversion where the premier men's sports are concerned.  Prepare for the collapse.  I'll be back in a few years to say "I told you so" after a some of you retards disagree right now.

Asu is satfetyschoolaggie

yeah that's great. although I think calling them a safety school makes them seem better than they actually are lol

Ask us about our ~90 Top 25 academic programs!  (Just don't ask us if there are really 24 more degree programs in Saudi Intersectional Lesbian Feminist Medieval Literature out there competing with us.)

Sincerely, Doctor Michael Crow (I'm Ivy League! No, not my degrees but I was once an adjunct at Columbia pulling down a cool $1500/semester and don't you ever forget it!)

I think we need Stanford. Because Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Duke. Make it happen, Yormark.

Pfft.  BY needs to get rolling on that Big XII Mexico initiative and invite a couple of schools from south of the border.

Elite: Arizona State, Kansas State.
'Eff 'em: Everyone else.

I give you your new Big XII overlords president Michael Crow & athletic director Ray Anderson (honestly I suspect this is a deepfake but watch out for Crow wanting to drag the Big XII into the 23rd century ....):

Everything I've read about Crow points to his being a dumbass.  Now, if his dumbassery was a long-term play to kill college athletics at ASU, then he's absolutely killing it.

Vis-a-vis athletics Crow is a cancer rather than a dumbass.  Worse, he's a reflection of the faction that's been running ASU for the last couple of decades.  That said ASU could certainly wind up in the Big XII and it's not at all difficult to envision them as *the* problem during any eastward expansion that might occur down the road.

I wouldn't worry too much about him being a problem.  I heard the fans are pissed and much more importantly the major donors are pissed, per Jason Shear.  I was guess his days are numbered.

While Scheer's reporting on the fans and donors' views on Crow is exactly correct Big XII fans may not appreciate the fact that those views haven't changed in the last 15 years or so.  Crow is a reflection of the university's views, not the other way around.

Who exactly are the options if not ASU and Utah? I suppose staying at 14 is also an option.

Yep, 14.  If it happens its a solid option.

Ranking the remaining PAC members:

1. UofA - Solid fit, cares about athletics.  Why aren't they here yet?

2. Stanford - Don't laugh.  They can't go big 10 unless the conference modifies its research sharing policies.   Stanford didn't share with their PAC brethren and probably won't share with the big 10 for the sake of sports; major problem for the big 10 as an exception would  leave them the research / academic cancer UT was to Big XII athletics.  Also, surprisingly good brand in sports though that's not in my wheelhouse at all.

3. Cal - LOL,right?  Cal alums are way more tolerable than, say, Utah fans and this athletic department probably dies w/o an immediate P5 affiliation.  Whereas Stanford can probably survive as an independent for a while, Cal can't.  And the MWC ain't gonna cut it here.  But, sadly, Fat  Dawg is probably dead and  his warehouses auctioned off so there's really no reason to ever go to Berkeley again.

4. ASU - Baseball rocks.  Crow is getting up there, his expiration date is probably not far beyond that of the PAC. All the potential in the world here but do the alums care enough to push Crow out and install someone who isn't trying to kill off athletics?  If they do can they get it done?  Does the Big XII feel lucky?

5.  Utah /  Wazzou / OrSt - Pick 'em.  None of them adds much to the conference really.  Utah seems new-money toxic.

When you think about the above, think about the next big 10 and SEC media negotiations.  Any of 'em adding a $100M+?  If not they're subtracting.   Biggest reason for the Big XII to take 3 is  to ensure the PAC actually dies.

But if BY wants UConn give him UConn.  NE markets and hoops are what he does.  It's still innovate  or die in college athletics.

Reportedly FSU thinks the ACC GOR can be killed with 8 votes.  Perhaps the networks will find 8 landing spots for the best of the ACC and allow that to happen.  Or maybe the 8 most valuable properties will get a head start on the next wave of realignment and vote the laggards off the island by dissolving the conference and forming a new one that can generate higher payouts per team.  That's probably the next wave (looking at you big 10 and SEC).

Sounds like Arizona is going to have to decide ....

The mistake here would be to assume that UofA is going to have a choice.  High probability that the ABOR will do whatever Crow (ASU) wants.  And what Crow wants is to build the world's largest JUCO within the academic halo of a conference affiliation with Stanford, and to a lesser extent, Cal.  He'd also like to kill college athletics (really).

12
Will they be mean to us or not?  :dunno:

Us?  No.

You?  Almost certainly.  I mean how could they not?

13
Is the fanbase / student pop anything close to the actual populations of Arizona? Isn't ASU some ultra party school?

The Tempe Normal School - If a bottom-feeder PE firm effected a hostile takeover of a middling public university and both were afflicted with severe delusions of grandeur the result would look an awful lot like ASU.  This is a university that told one of its highly-ranked professional programs, "Yeah, you're not profitable so we're probably going to zero out your budget soon," which resulted in said program giving the university the finger, acquiring their own digs downtown, and farming their students out sweatshop-style to the community they serve.  They have an athletic department only because Crow hasn't found a way to sell it off yet.  On the upside they have about 3 KSUs worth of students that are online only; 3 more KSUs worth of full time students on the main campus and 2 KSUs worth of students at various satellite campuses.

The University of Arizona & Tucson High - Tucson wanted the territorial mental hospital but the reps were drunk and arrived late to the meeting where monies for civic projects were divvied up across the territory.  As the losers they got the university but made the best of it by establishing a high school in the same building so the project wouldn't be a total loss.  If you're cute, blonde, grew up in SoCal, aren't smart enough to get into Stanford or Berkeley and daddy doesn't have the $$$ to buy you a spot at the University of Spoiled Children your consolation prize is a place at one of Tucson's famous brothels / sororities.  Yes, it's a great party school but Steve Dave is too young to really appreciate it.

Another company has promised some opportunities in private equity that aren't available to the general public.

Run.  They're inviting you folks to be exit liquidity for the big money that has already got theirs.  These "opportunities" being shopped through advisors now are tranches of gated funds that have yet to take their (vastly lower) marks on their portfolios.  Best case: you're locked up for years; underwater for years; and well below public market returns by the time you can get out.

So why did a coach that later got fired for sucking crap fire this guy and if it was for being awful at his job, why would Kleiman then decide this guy was worth gambling his job on?

Jeebus, with all the effing trivia you morons can spew on command I'd think you could at least get the easy ones by yourselves: he's CK's drinking buddy from their playing days.

He was a four-year letterman and teammate of NDSU coach Chris Klieman at Northern Iowa from 1986-1989 ....

Rumblings Sean is going back to the AD. Fantastic news for everyone if true.

I sure hope so.  Could you imagine having that rough rider skulking around saying "Dad didn't do it that way" all the time?

Pfft.  That one's easy, "Well Junior if daddy had done it this way maybe he'd have won some national championships too."  I doubt that conversation would happen twice.

18
As long as Bo and Carl leave some coke available for the team I'm all for bringing those lunatics on board.

Snort the dang line

Has anyone written Gene to let him know that goEMAW's official position on his hiring of the North Fargo Junior College coach to replace Snyder will improve dramatically with these hires?  I feel that he's waiting to hear from you guys.

Agree it's a pretty ballsy alpha move by Gene.

Very ballsy: wait until every other P5 program has secured their HC; strike out with all the sloppy seconds still on the market; panic and give the only guy still taking your calls north of a 750% raise to take the gig.  The clues were pretty much unmissable when LittreLL began slapping Gene around.

very economical decision. would I tell you not to buy a 2004 toyota camry?

of course i would not tell you not to buy a 2004 toyota camry.

What do you expect from a program whose boosters can only come up with enough dough for the national juco player of the year to pick up a rusty 15 year old BMW from a used car lot?  That's the antithesis of bigtime, as is this hire.

Maybe it’s just me but in the end will this all matter that much?

No, it will not.  KSU is headed back to the days when you could count on one of the homecoming parade floats being a giant toilet with a jayhawk and rabies Willie circling the drain.  It's cute that some of these retards think it matters who's eventually hired.

Didn't you ingrates learn anything in kindergarten?  You always leave things just the way you found them.  We should thank Bill for putting things back into their normal condition before his forthcoming exit and for having the foresight to understand that Sean might be necessary to finish the job.
