Kansas State Football / So impressed!
« on: November 20, 2011, 03:55:58 PM »
With the manner in which K-state plays the game of football.  They play smart, they play hard and they remain calm no matter the situation.  Good luck against the Iowa State, and ultimately whatever bowl game y'all end up at.  Thank you for representing the conference and the state (cause only the Lord knows what Gill is actually trying to do over here) with high quality football this year.  Kudos to Snyder, and please enjoy these years while you are fortuate enough to have one of the best in the business coaching. By the way, great win last night.

I didn't say UK was a college of geniuses. They just know how to hang banners (legit banners). Also...23k+ for a bball game.....what does KU average for their football games?

:dubious:  <--- Anthony Davis.. Is that you?!

Most of the "who is the best" analysis that I have read typically starts in 1985 with the increase to 64 teams in the NCAA tournament.

KU is "in the conversation" because they have two titles since 1985, albeit lower on the list than UCONN, as Limestone points out.

Additionally, I think everyone would agree that all titles before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 are not worthy of inclusion in ANY list...and if they are, it's typically by a racist...but sometimes by a special needs person.

Whoa.. I am definitely neither a racist nor a special needs person, just a fan.

I know you purposefully put Kansas out of this because their is a deep hatred for us aound these parts, but so that the threads gets a healthy dose of reality I would like to add: Kansas.

State your case, because if the measuring stick in actual championships, the only one it can compete with is Michigan State...

Now, I guess ku has won a ton of regular season games but that counts a usually weak non-con and a conference that looks to be a little behind the BE.

You wouldn't compare ku to uconn or duke, right?

Weak non-con schedule? We had the 10th ranked SOS this year and the #1 RPI.

Sigh.. I can't believe I'm seriously going to state my case for this, but I suppose I shall.

3 National Championships (6th most). 5 Runner-Ups(5th most). 13 Final Fours(4th most). 22 Straight tournament appearances (most).  54 Conference Titles (7 in a row, most).  25 Conference Tournament Titles.  2,037 all-time wins (2nd most).  92 seasons with a winning record (most).  10 seasons with 30+wins (3rd most).  4 seasons with 35+wins (t-most).  20 first team all-americans (most).

Now go ahead and laugh all you want about us only having those 3 championships, but it is what it is and I am very proud to be able to claim even 3 (because of how the tournament format is set up in a onee-and-done fashion, not an excuse just stating that it doesn't necessarily pin the top teams in the NC game, see: Tonight) and especially one in the last 5 years.

Also, compare them to uconn? That's pretty humorous actually.  I'll applaud that.

you forgort to talk about Naismith.

No I didnt.  Yeah he made the game, but what did he do for the basketball program itself outside being the only coach in school history with a losing record.

you forgot to talk about Wilt

Individuals do not make a program.

Before winning their 3rd one in 2008, I had KU on about the same level as Oklahoma State.  2 NC's but so long ago that most of their fans weren't even alive when it happened.

I feel you TrueBlue, it's a little unfair, but we are definitely in a "What have you done for me lately" society.

this is the national perception.  The '08 win moved ku into the second level behind the real big timers.  Now, Uconn has moved from that second level, to the big timers.  Not exactly fair, but these are the times we live in.

I guess we shall just agree to disagree then.

Ugh, I hate explaining stuff to ku fans.

The resume you rattled off isn't in the top 5.  You have to win more than one title a generation, or have some sick number like UCLA to be a blue blood.  repeat after me:  once every 25 years make you a nifty little program.  Not one of the big boys.  ku couldn't carry UCONN's jock in an oversized wheelbarrow.

Uconn = 3 NC's
Kansas = 3 NC's

And as you stated before, its all about the championships, right?

Not really.  I knew it was done on purpose, as I stated in my previous post.

B.J. Mullens. '08 #1 recruit.  8.8ppg and 4.7rpg from a 7'0'' center.

Josh Selby. '10 #1 recruit.  7.9ppg and 2.2apg and 2.2rpg.

Not saying this makes Selby less of a bust, but Mullens did this while playing on a 9-loss team as opposed to the 3-loss team Selby played on this year.  Mullens still opted for the draft after his first year.  Now the argument made a few posts early was only about being a 'one and done', which Selby still could do if he chose to.

This has been the basis for my belief that Selby's gone this year.  I'm thinking the twins, T-Rob and Selby are all gonzo.  What do you think will happen TrueBlue?

And I'm not asking what you would like to see happen.  :dubious:

Haha yeah I think you all know what I would LIKE to see happen, however I highly doubt that comes to fruition.  I do not know for sure what will happen with any of them but based on previous players and what I'm hearing through rumors and throughout Lawrence I could give you some percentages.

Twins - 90% chance they go.
Thomas - 50% chance that goes.
Selby - 40% chance that he goes. (Apparently he likes the idea of ACTUALLY playing, go figure)
Taylor - 10% chance he goes.

Not exactly sure how they all will effect one another outside of the twins (obviously going to decide together), but these are just so numbers I have heard.

dear jayhawk fans:

please review top players for the past 5 or so years before you next post.  Selby is doing something none of them have.

Or I can do it for you

04 D Howard = HS to NBA
05 G Green = HS to NBA
06 G Oden = 1 done
07 M Beasley = 1 done
08 B Mullens = 1 done
09 J Wall = 1 done
10 Selby = back up's back up.  Was called a effing pussy by his coach on local radio because of his non existent ankle injury

Yet again, already aware of this.  Bring something new to the table please.

Okay sorry. We can argue my grammatical errors. Or you can realize that you guys bring in turds of recruiting classes.

Dude this is not making us look any better by claiming how shitty their recruiting class is.

15
Wait!

Selby underperformed for us this year?  :horrorsurprise:

Pervis Pasco .

KU underachieves and chokes. Their fanbase denies it. The truth hurts. etc etc

There is nothing to deny.  Self is 1-3 in the Elite Eight @ Kansas.  It sucks because we have had teams that should have been in the Final Four that just had an epic collapse in the tournament.  I realize this stuff happens and maybe it will all even out, but my fear is that the team will start to buy in to the whole "perrenial chokers" tag and tense up every year a mid-major doesn't back down after getting popped in the face (not from a Morrii elbow, but rather on the scoreboard).

Congrats Jake.  A true competitor of the game and epitome of what the college game is about.

Gotta admit, Brady sure didn't miss a step when the 3 point line was added.

He actually credits this point in history as to when his career really began to take off.

Don't you effing do it.  Don't make me like you.  :dubious:

Heard a rumor that he may forgo his 8th college year and decide to test the professional waters.  Hasn't signed with an agent yet so the option to come back is still there.

23
Oh don't remind me..

24
withey is awful, I hope for EMAJ sakes he isn't a starter next season

Oh he is terrible and any reasonable Kansas knows this, but if we do end up losing all three of our bigs this year then our hand will be forced upon us.

25
If they lose Trob, and the mcmorris's, they're going to suck next year.  Bill Self completely forgot to recruit front court players for next season and there isn't cac left to take.  They're going to have like 6 open 'ships and a couple guys to take them.  Large JuCo class on its way . . .

Dude, you guys say this same exact thing, year after year, after year, after year, after year....
Name your starting 5 for next year.

Well at this point in time it would be:
Starters: Taylor, Selby, Releford, Marcus, and Markieff
Bench: Johnson and Robinson

:jerk:
I mean your legitimate starting 5.  The McThug twins, Selby and Robinson are gone.  Toast.  Book it.

Now what's your starting 5?

Selby isn't going anywhere. Not this year.

Starters:
Taylor, Selby, Releford, Daniels, Withey?

Bench:
Johnson, Mclemore and Teahen

Both Mclemore and Daniels are top 20 recruits that we are top 2 on both.  I will say that if we lose as much talent are you are claiming we will that we will get the commitment from both of them.
