According to 247, Phillip Brooks (who has a gray shirt offer from us) runs a 4.30 40.

Any guesses on what he actually runs?

That kid is deceptively fast, great vision, and solid hands for a running back based on the video. Reminds me of a Warmack type, he made the other teams look pretty silly with some simple cuts. 4.30 40, I'm not sure but he's definitely got speed, I'm surprised he doesn't have more offers.

I coached Phillip in both basketball and football in middle school - at that time, he was the quickest, most explosive athlete I had ever seen as an 8th grader.  I work with several of his coaches in high school and they confirmed that his time was legit.  I can only imagine he is not getting other offers simply because of his size.  He'd look damn good as a returner on our special teams units at the very least.

I don't want to bring to a screeching halt the narrative that this guy is another old bastard, but just talked with Damion McIntosh, who was there while Fabris was the first time around.  Said he's a very high energy guy.  Also intimated that Darren Howard was in favor of the hire, FWIW.

For better or worse, I shape the lives of America's youth one math class at a time, so I'm not always able to stay current with what's been posted on the board...forgive me if this is a total repeat.  A theory:

Bill, John and BV have already worked out a deal to make BV the head coach in waiting next year as well as DC.  This would have been done sooner, but BV wanted to give himself the opportunity to be a coach on a NC team, which another year of DeShaun Watson potentially gives him this year.  This would explain why Hayes was brought back despite evidence suggesting he wanted to retire after last year.  BV will take over the D next year, bring with him an offensive mind capable of putting together a game plan that doesn't completely boggle the mind, and Bill will ride off into the sunset with a team capable of making some noise nationally next year.

Holes:  John Currie may not be capable of actually pulling this off.  Bill may be too delusional/egotistical/old to realize it's time to call it a day.  BV gets an offer he can't refuse from somewhere else.

What else am I missing?

My middle school just played Dalvin Warmack's little brother yesterday.  Dude is built like Sproles.  It took about 7 guys to tackle him on every play, and he preferred to run between the tackles rather than outside (rare for middle school running backs.)  Might be time to feed Dalvin the ball just to keep 2021 in mind...

I saw Toney play against Hutch in the Juco tournament...he was one of the most impressive players on the floor, but it was a pretty pedestrian floor.  He would have fit in nicely with the JYCs of the Martin era, but I'm not sure how he will translate to Brucesketball.  Seemed like he was a small guard who could get into the lane, but wasn't necessarily an outside threat.  Not sure he finishes against Big XII opponents.

Heard from a team manager from 98-03 that at half time of the Iowa State game when we were down 28-7, he just walked in the locker room and said nothing. The entire locker room sat silent for 15 minutes. Then, right before they took the field, he said "don't disapoint me".

Kinda contradicts the yelling, cursing, throwing stuff stories though...
Can confirm from a co-worker and former player that little was said, but he also threatened to pull scholarships if they didn't come back to win.  Also did this against OSU that same year, per player's recollection.

I was going to say more of the genetic combination of Daryl Strawberry and Montgomery Burns.

Doubt we'll get to see Monte Harrison in purple...he's a potential top-10 draft pick in baseball.  (And he's got every bit of a 41-inch vertical.  First play in last night's district final against Rockhurst was an alley-oop to him.)

Boehm added KSU as a possibility solely because of respect for Snyder.  From what I understand, he was very impressed with Chizik when he went down to visit Auburn.  It probably didn't hurt (other than the scoreboard) that he got to experience the Iron Bowl firsthand...  He'll still take an official visit to Mizzou, so there's always a chance he honors his original verbal.

Is there a direct flight to Columbia for Curtis?  Maybe he can back up Freddy...
