Essentially Flyertalk / Hand Moisturizer
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:35:37 AM »
Winter is fast approaching and we all know what that means, dry skin, cracked and sometimes even bleeding knuckles :sdeek:

Why? Because typing, clicking, bbs ing, and washing your hands after you go to the bathroom can really take a toll.

What's your go to hand moisturizer for these dark, dry days of winter?

Essentially Flyertalk / Does it matter where you get a MBA?
« on: July 29, 2013, 09:53:37 PM »
Here is the situation:

I have completed 6 hours at Colorado State's MBA program, but they raised
the price significantly which made me look to see what other online MBA
programs out there cost. I basically have 2 options; stay at Colorado State or a similar type state school (for which tuition is approximately the same) or transfer to a smaller school

Here is my choice:

Complete the MBA that I've started at CSU, this requires 34 more hours at $870/credit hour = $29,580

OR

Transfer to Fort Hays State and complete their online MBA program; this requires 40 more hours at $400/credit hour = $16,000

I'm not going to take out loans for either program, but is CSU's education and name recognition (I know it's no ivy league school, but it still sounds better than Phoenix, FHSU, etc., imo) worth twice as much as FHSU's education?

dean of eng. college follows michael smith to arkansas

Quote
Friends and colleagues:

I’d like to take this opportunity to personally tell you I have accepted
the position as dean of engineering at the University of Arkansas,
effective July 1, 2013.

As with any decision of this nature, there are mixed emotions, and while I
have enjoyed my tenure tremendously here in Manhattan, I believe this
return to my alma mater is the right move at this time.

It has been a pleasure to work with you over the years—K-State engineering
has such a marvelous team of faculty and staff. Thank you for your
consistent and untiring support of the college, and the wonderful
friendship extended to Elizabeth and me—we will not forget it.

Be assured I will not make my departure before establishing a strong
setting of continuity for the college, and I hope I can count on you in
this endeavor as well.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

John

I thought he was pretty good  :dunno:

Essentially Flyertalk / Black Undershirts
« on: January 19, 2012, 02:04:01 PM »
We had a new guy start at my office. The dress code is business casual, dress pantsand a long sleeved stress shirt are pretty much the norm, anyway this guy wears a black undershirt consistently. The first day I thought ok maybe he got dressed in the dark or lost ask his white undershirts or something, but nope everyday black undershirt. this isn't normal right? Should I say something or just let him go on his losery way?

Essentially Flyertalk / Kid Fundraisers
« on: January 11, 2012, 11:13:24 AM »
I don't mind supporting the local elementary school getting more art supplies or new playground equipment, but gtfo with your daughter's 10 and under softball team fundraisers every other month. If your kid plays traveling sports then pay for them yourself, don't expect your coworkers to subsidize you're kids athletic pursuits, and if you can't afford it then sign them up for parks and rec league.

When my kids get to that age its going to be very tempting to just give them a fifty to donate to their school rather than making them pettle pancake feed tickets, but I feel like there is some moral lesson in there that they should learn, hard work, don't give up it'd ness, dedication? ??? what do other goemawers do?

Essentially Flyertalk / Self employed/starting your own business
« on: December 28, 2011, 10:34:52 AM »
Has anyone started their own business and been successful? Would prefer a business model where I could work real hard (or even just normal hard) for 5-10 years then just manage people doing the real work and collect a fat check or sell it for enough money where I wouldn't have to work, TIA

If they don't look cool, what's the next best thing to wear and stay dry for Farmageddon? Or do I just go in knowing I'm going to be cold, wet, yet satisfied with a cat win?

Essentially Flyertalk / George 4man grill (Cooking Elites Only)
« on: January 12, 2011, 06:39:36 PM »
I feel like the George foreman grill totally defeats the purpose of cooking meat items. It squeezes burgers, chicken etc. until all the juices (fat & other good stuff) go out and they end up all dry and not-tasty.

It's good for pannini's and hot sandwiches but besides that I don't really see the point

Also what % of lean ground beef do you elites buy?

The Minutes does not promote binge drinking, but here are five ways to watch basketball coaches and risk inebriation:

2. Every time Frank Martin tries to burn holes in one of his players with his 1,000-mile stare, take a drink.

Kansas State Football / Dreadlock Diapers
« on: September 26, 2010, 03:07:23 PM »
Did anybody else notice these yesterday? Harold and someone else had purple things that basically held their dredlocks so that they wouldn't hang out the back of their helmets, probably due to snyder's no hair outside the helmet rule, but I feel like it's really holding back the adorableness factor of our team. Thoughts?
