Kansas State Football / BWW Dining/Drinking/Partying Recommendations Thread
« on: December 09, 2013, 09:41:03 AM »
I'll be spending quite a bit of time down before the bowl game with absolutely nothing to do. Not so much a problem and more of an opportunity. Therefore, I'd like to entertain any gems of recommendations for the PHX area to keep myself busy. The major advantage of the 'Cats getting the nod to head back to Arizona is that we don't have to spend much time

Coach House (Scottsdale): I think I met Fanning there last year... not too sure. Anyways, great laid back dive bar with pitchers and the entire inside is completely decked out in Christmas lights. A fire marshall's nightmare. Ton of fun though.

Firehouse (Old Town): I feel like this is an off-the-clock stripper hang out. Glad a brewski and people watch. Don't stand in one spot too long or your feet will never unstick from the group. Not so much a complaint, just savvy advice for future patrons.

Giligans (Scottsdale): This is one of my favorite dive bar spots in the state of Arizona. I want most of your experience here to be a surprise so all I'll say is that if you go on the right night then you'll find a midget (little person, whatever) serving up cocktails and all the furniture is miniature. The food sucks but I think that's kind of their point (giliginsbar.com/)

The Chuckbox (Tempe, http://thechuckbox.com/): This is one of my favorite places to eat. It's a mesquite burger grill with zero frills. They only accept cash and the line is usually out of the door. Also, they guy who cooks the burgers just doesn't have very many teeth. If you head by the ASU campus I'd advise you stop in and have a burger. You won't regret the taste. The place is kind of a dump, but again, I think that's kind of the point. Big ASU student spot so it's good and reasonable.

Alright, those are just a few of my favorites. What else?!

Looking to party in a tuxedo. Will likely be too drunk to go out after the wedding reception. However, that will not stop me.

Essentially Flyertalk / Student Body Elections
« on: February 26, 2013, 02:30:42 PM »
That time of the year again, EMAWs. Yup, you felt it... SGA elections at Kansas State University. A few years ago this board trustfully supported my failed candidacy for Student Body President. I thank you for that blind support. Luckily, I lost and loved my 5th year of school doin' guy stuff while chasing beers with more beers. I'm better for it.

If you don't believe me then I guess listen to the dopey K-State Mask at his usual annoyingly, long-winded antics. This time about 18-23 year old student body elections.... whatever:

Kansas State Football / 'Cats Play of the Year
« on: December 28, 2012, 11:28:40 AM »
Thought's on Kellis' Play of the Year? http://blogs.kansas.com/kstated/2012/12/28/fiesta-bowl-countdown-play-of-the-year-kansas-state-football-edition/

Analysis is pretty spot on imho for that being the turning point where most people who were not already believing began to visualize the upset, but also looking back on my first hand experience in the stadium, it was one of my favorite and most excited 'Cats moments of the year (to date). Still have the shattered cell phone screen to prove it (no, 8MP it was not you who broke my phone during the Baylor game when you were acting like a child).

Just to think, Tuggle... QB turned LB would cause such a hit on that born loser Landry. Man, that was just such a cool moment.

I figure this is a bit of a different question than the Travel thread so I will ask it here.

Any recommendations for things to do in the metroplex? Time of day is really of no concern considering I will have zero things to do but pop my k-state gear's collar until kick-off.

Looking for :popcorn: with a little  :opcat: as possible.

Kansas State Football / Pre-Schemed Road to the 'ship
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:46:05 PM »
I believe National Championship Bound Legendary Head Coach and Future College Football Hall of Famer LHC Bill Snyder has schemed this year so far back that he chased aTm out of the Big XII so they could be a mole by ruining Bama's season in the SEC, planted Phil down at Baylor so we could walk over his defense during thanksgiving break, and then palled around with Mack Brown down in Austin so that while he's on the hot seat, ole Mackie could bow out of his career for his bestie Snydes by getting stomped by the KSU Wildcats as they sure up their National Title Bid.

Plausible? Or no...

My apologies for the run on sentence....

Co-workers getting pretty irritated at me humming the chorus Number One by Nelly...

"I.. am.. number one - no matter if you like it
Here take it sit down and write it
I.. am.. number one
Hey hey hey hey hey hey - now let me ask you man
What does it take to be number one?
Two is not a winner and three nobody remembers (hey)
What does it take to be number one?
Hey hey hey hey.."

And their all EMAWs! :billdance:

Kansas State Football / Cats in the Draft
« on: October 29, 2012, 08:08:18 AM »
While tailgating for the abortion of a team that is the Kansas City Chiefs I got into quite the discussion that I'd be interested in your input.

The question is this:

Assuming Arthur Brown Junior is drafted first in the NFL 2013 draft, which KSU Wildcat is 2nd and 3rd?

*If the question's assumption is farfetched, please feel free to share your thoughts.*

« on: October 09, 2012, 12:40:16 PM »
I'm bored and wanting to spend some money. I've always been a fan of watches so I think diversifying my collection will be a good idea. Looking for a good young professional watch. Any suggestions? Price range is probably around $150-$600. Like I said, I'm bored with my life and my watch will keep me company. Or at least, keep time!

Ended up not staying in Norman for fear of winning or losing and starting some kind of race war. Elected to stay in OKC  :dunno:. Any recommendations around the Bricktown area?

Miami on our 3 yd line. Morris rolls left looking for an open receiver. Morris blinks. Arthur Brown closes with lightning speed for a sack.

Essentially Flyertalk / Willie's a stiff
« on: September 03, 2012, 07:56:08 PM »
For his range of mobility compared to other mascots, Willie doesn't really do a whole lot. I mean, yeah - he runs at 5.2 speed and tackles an off duty willie before other game. But c'mon - that's old hat. During the game he just walks around signing little kids shirts and mocking the college students while hiding behind this mask. Where's the press box climbing, bowl game fighting Willie of old?

Overall, I'm just disappointed.

Kansas State Football / Best K-State Willie Pre-game?
« on: August 31, 2012, 09:31:10 AM »
Every day I drive by the BSFS West Stadium expansion I just think about how jacked I'd be if Willie base jumped off one of the cranes. Sure, he might break his legs... But oh my would it be sweet to see him jump, parachute in hand.

Any other dreamy pregames?

PS -I don't really like that social chameleon anyways.

Kansas State Football / Pre-Student Section Withdrawal - Support Needed
« on: August 30, 2012, 08:55:28 AM »
I need your support.

Three years ago I could barely sleep before a 'Cats home game so I would lay in my bed and try to rest my eyes. By 5am I would give up, throw on some purple, grab BigDCat, put him in a snuggie and go drink beers in the back of a pick up until someone woke up to drive us to the fields.

There, I'd switch to liquor so I'd get mad enough to make borderline racist comments (it's okay because I'm black) at most of the visiting team from the student section. I do believe I with all my heart that I made a difference. I got in their heads. I did my job as a cat fan to help those young people win.

Now, I've graduated. BigDCat moved back to the Big D. I am not eligible to buy student tickets. I now sit with my beautiful mother, teenage sister, and random shirt tucks in section 5 who I grew up around.

I just dont know if I can deal with the binoculars from the 12th row, the constant commentary about what Stan had to say about that play, or the insistence that they need to "tackle him to the ground!", "run faster", or "how athletic that number four on defense is."

Even with all the 16 goals videos, people coming back for the game, and general buzz of football starting again, I just cannot seem to get that excited for watching the game. This makes me sad. Really, really sad.

I need your support.
