Kansas State Football / Heisman ceremony, who's going?
« on: October 28, 2012, 05:47:38 PM »
I'm supposed to be in Vegas on Dec. 8th but screw it, thinking this is a better way to go:

https://secure.sportssystems.com/events2/credapp.cfm;jsessionid=92309a3fbf9f4c9ca44370772b73035294e7

The way I look at it, forty EMAW could attend with a few options on how to split up the tickets to the actual ceremony:

Option 1) Rub elbows/get autographs/open bar!!?/two parties = $850. Draw to get ticket and pay $1,500 additional or defer.
Option 2) Rub elbows/get autographs/open bar!!?/two parties = $1,000. Draw to get 1 of 4 tickets with other 4 at purchaser discretion ($1,500 additional for tickets 5-8).
Option 3) Rub elbows/get autographs/open bar!!?/two parties = $1,150. Draw to get one of 8 tickets (one in five chance with no additional cost).

Or something like that. I figure we won't have this option again until next year when Sams is there, so we should pounce on it now, get some of our loose :kstategrad: change together and EMAW the hell out of this thing.

The preview text from my cable provider for the Michigan/Nubb game  :sdeek:

Quote
Live, Michigan at Nebraska. Scampering QBs Denard Robinson and Taylor Martinez are in the spotlight at Memorial Stadium in a key Big Ten Legends Division battle. The Wolverines clowned Nebraska 45-17 last season, outgaining the Cornhuskers 418-260. (Not Football)

Those little scamps. big 10 East bottom-dwellers would dominate either of these garbage programs.

Mods, hope we have the bandwidthy stuff for this, sorry I didn't ask permission to host this party before offering. Somebody who is already registered at SB please extend an invitation.

I love the folks at SB so much. Their anus prep is second to NONE and has been going on in anticipation of Dec. 1st for like 3 weeks already. That's 60+ days of anticipatory rectal maladies and meltdowns about Mack and the defense which is so adorable it's humbling.

Go Texas, beat everyone between now and then, and let's make this CTR matchup one for the ages! :excited:

Thought it would be Hirschman or Wood, but whatevs, Buffs still 1-2 years out of national championship certainty. "Save our studz," and "keep dominating recruiting," as the mantra goes here at UC-B. Just hate giving up the starting job to white shrimp trash from the midwest when we have at least one native west coaster who can fill the position. Oh well.

In other news, an amazing all-star lineup is anchoring this first-ever show on 12PAC Network including rough ridin' GOLDENBOY BEAUTIFUL-GENIUS 'SLICK' RICK NEUHEISEL. Right now Goldenboy Rick is talking about Mike Leach. Leach turning up in the 12PAC is like finding a huge bar of gold in a mound full of huge space diamonds. Should be pretty special.

Essentially Flyertalk / KU meth in DIA

This is a WWJD type question for all cats...

Tonight I spotted a tiny bag of white crystals right at the top of the escalator that goes from the A gates to the terminal walkway. I briefly considered pocketing it so that I would have it to hand out next time someone in KU garb comes up to my car on Colfax knocking on the window asking for money. Because I know that's just what they are going to do with the money anyways is go buy the KU drug of choice. And I always feel bad for homeless KU fans and also hate to leave them without a fix, especially on a cold night.

So as a Christian and a Cat fan, what should I have done? I mean my God some kid could have picked it up! Oh Lord I hope I didn't make the wrong decision by leaving it there. tia :frown:

For any EMAWs who feel like risking their lives for the sake of baseball and care to join, I plan on taking in the Giants-Athletics game on Sunday with inappropriate levels of drunkeness. Or maybe at some super-chic $$$$ place in SF that only EMAW and Stanford grads can afford. :surprised: :kstategrad:

Very excited about this. Could not have turned out better except for the Nugget dream scenario of Melo going to the Nyets in exchange for four first round picks. This is still very good. Actually like and have respect for Melo who I hope destroys the Eastern Conference and gets his annoying ass wife out of Denver. :woot:  :gocho: :driving:  :excited: :pbj:

Worried about his safety. :ohno: Not sure how Self is going to pull it off yet but I can see it going down something like this:

Mid week: Seff makes un-prompted comment in presser about how Tyeswhan "is going to get what's coming to him." Comment is completely ignored.

Friday afternoon: Reporters grill Self on Tysjuan's status amid rumors that he hasn't reported to practice in two days. Old ppl also confirm he has been absent from all classes. Sehlf responses include "I've tried calling him... Our staff... has tried reaching him," and "I suppose he deserves to be wherever he is at, but how would I know where he's been put?" These comments do not raise any suspicions.

Saturday morning: Prior to tipoff against Colorado, rogue media outlet ESPN who should just shut up learns that Taylor's mother Jeanell has filed a missing person report with the Douglas County Sheriff after repeated attempts to contact her son fail. She discovers that all of his belongings appear to be in order and that nothing is missing. Self's reaction in a pre game interview is only to say, "What happens between Tyshawn and his mother is none of our business. I'm sure he will turn up someday. Right now we just have to focus on this game today and our open scholarship next year."

SAVANNAH, GA (AP) - University of Kansas graduate Paul Hunt says that even 20 years later, he still doesn't understand what went wrong. Whatever it was, he's out of work--like nearly ten percent of Americans and climbing--and can't make sense of the job market.

"It still blows my mind that a degree in Gender Transitional Studies from the Kansas commuter college isn't enough to guarantee you a job in corporate America," said Hunt, referring to his alma mater.

"I thought I had it made," recalls Hunt. "I left that hellhole in Oklahoma for what I thought was going to be this great place. [The University of Kansas] was billed as some little wonderland in the midwest where all people were equal... All I remember was racism and homophobia. And bigotry. Also basically no respect for women."

Hunt, a Moore, Okahoma, native, had attended the school for six years before landing a job at a shipping yard in Boston--with a detour along the way.

To escape the icy, disapproving stares of Lawrence, Hunt struck a trail for Colorado Springs, Colo., where he'd heard people were more tolerant of alternative lifestyles. The recent graduate said of the city, "[It] had a lot of military dudes and Jesus freaks, but I actually got assaulted physically and sexually far less there than I did in Lawrence."

It was in Colorado Springs that he met Tairey Greene, an actor who introduced him to various coaches from the gymnastics program at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Hunt failed to qualify for any official Olympic competitor status, but did manage to impress various male members of the Olympic team who would each later fund--from personal accounts--Hunt's foray into what he calls "interpretive gymno-comedy."

"The [Olympic] coaches and I had one more tryout together and I got the job," said Hunt. "I would have never believed that once the gig was over, I would lose my celebrity and now can't even keep a job at a shipping place."

Managers at the East Bay yard where Hunt worked said they were never sure why Hunt had applied for the job, given that his resumé showed no experience with physical labor.

"He had become a distraction, to be quite honest with you," said Dean O'Carolan, who manages the dock operations at E&M Transport. "Pretty much from the first day he showed up, he constantly complained about how the job wasn't good enough for him."

O'Carolan also made a point of mentioning that when E&M hired Hunt in 1989, the company didn't anticipate keeping him on their payroll for nearly two decades.

"The union fracked us," deadpanned O'Carolan. "We had no damn idea that there were laws against firing people for some reasons... He didn't enjoy coming to work until he started his little backroom operation with the guys from maintenance. That's when we decided he needed to be let go. No, we never cared about his degree."

Still, Hunt seems shocked that someone with his educational background can't get settled into a high-paying career, despite being removed from the men's locker room at the Olympic Training Center on four occasions and running a homosexual peep show in the oil shed at E&M Transport. He denies both accusations.

"We had one of the best all-male home gymnastics clubs around," Hunt laments, referring to his days at the University of Kansas, "and even though I had an extracurricular involvement in the arts and a degree from that place, nobody wants to hire me."

Since losing his job at the shipping yard and being "totally blocked by the Olympic people, to the point that they haven't returned a phone call in months," Hunt has moved to Savannah, Ga., "to kind of find myself and enjoy my life in a place where people don't hate."

The blame for the bad economy and job market, according to Hunt, falls mostly on President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. President Bush, he says, was only focused on "[The] genocide of people who didn't believe in him," and that Rice "was a carbon copy of Cheney." Both, he says, are responsible for the crumbling job market and education system.

"Those fat cat white power brokers are just killing everybody in the world," said Hunt. "The U.S. is fighting wars in like seventeen countries right now and nobody even cares. Plus there's racists and gay haters at the flagship college of Douglas County, Kansas, and we are expected to believe this is how society works? I basically can't get hired anywhere that men work because of my degree, I think."

Kansas State Football / It's Embree
« on: December 02, 2010, 09:09:54 PM »
Well folks it's been a little bit up-and-down here lately in Buff fantasy land but it appears that Embree will indeed be CU's next HC... Not quite the dream scenario of Scoot as HC with Embree as OC, but it looks like it will be the reverse: Embree as HC and EB as OC.

So it's still looking like a MAJOR coup for the University of Colorado!!!!11! :pbj: :pbj: :excited: :excited:

IF indeed B does come as the OC, it would seem that he and Embree are likely to put together a good-ole-boys staff together full of people who have either coached or played at CU and at a championship level. So this could get REALLY exciting.

Furthermore, my understanding is that both Scoot and Embree were "whisked" off their respective practice fields today, implying that the duo-to-Boulder rumor may be true. Will be very interesting to see who handles what, and I wouldn't be surprised if EB ends up as an "associate" head coach.

Either way... THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!!!!@@@OHHHH!!!! :drink:  :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:  :pbj:

Watching "Baseball" and was reminded of how often unhappy spectators used to throw eggs, fruit, vegetables, etc. WTF? This stuff couldn't have been fresh/edible or else they wouldn't have thrown it... Which suggests that anybody who went to a sporting, musical, political or theatrical event from antiquity until the 1960's carried with them a spoiled, putrid sack of rotting food -- just in case.
