I have thought for a while that if espn or fox wanted to charge say $10-$15 a month subscription for streaming access to all games that they carry they would just rake in the money.  HBO fired the first shots by severing there ties to cable providers for there streaming service. In the next few years others will follow and it may be better for the consumer.
It was an interesting point about higher quality of fringe networks because the money they get from non viewers.
Yes, the author continues to regurgitate the same tired arguments made by cable companies. the problem is that they are not making higher quality programming because of the money. The numbers show that people still only watch 12-17 channels at most and companies like ESPN just continue to cram there absurd number of channels with crap that nobody watches. ESPN's statement says that they continue to lead in innovating sports broadcasting, but I would argue that because of the current system they are not innovating at all. They have become the unchanging Goliath of a corporation that can't see beyond their bottom line. If they were innovators they would be trying to find ways of getting sports to people anyway they can. I guarantee there is a growing number of people out there that are younger and streaming there entertainment that don't have cable. They are missing out on that money and that segment is only going to continue to get bigger the longer they fight.

I feel that this team is going to be one that can achieve great things and win games that they shouldn't, but at the same time perform very poorly and lose a game to TCU. There is just too much inconsistency in the guard play for us to be elite.

Giving this thread a bump. We can't allow this thread to slip quietly into obscurity like the Kony 2012 campaign. Little bros are having some good stuff happen to them right now, but the hurt is coming. We have to be there to catch them when their mythical bird wings fail them.

Spent all evening re-watching the home games against  Gonzaga, Texas and KU. Looking back at these games I can't believe we actually won the way we did. Getting pumped for this season! :excited:

This season is hard to judge yet. Tech was the first game with students back, and I don't blame them for not getting real excited for that one. Them we had Ole Miss, but that was still when we weren't sure what this team was. I'm sure games like Texas and KU will have great crowds.

You're right in that.  I just wish that there wasn't a bandwagon type feel to the student crowd.  I think the athletics department is still banging their heads against the wall on how to get KSU students excited for the bball non-con.

Is always been this way. Very few fans are diehards.

Students have way too many seats allotted for them.  Make top of 18, 24 and 25 cheap/moderately priced GA.  Break-ball had great crowds with the promos.

When I was a student I was always proud of having the largest student sectionin the BIGXII Now I think you're about right.  Pump the revenue of the ticket sales back into all that Bramlage improvement talk. Maybe (I know this is crazy talk) put some students behind the goals?

who gives an eff if its not full, right?

It's those pesky corner seats that make you feel like you're sitting 100 yes from the court. Those seats suck ass.

Well we have 5 against wvu, TT and TCU, so we really only need 3.  I'm sticking to 13-5 and conf champs.
we should beat baylor and ou at home. but we will drop a couple we shouldn't on the road if we play like tonight

TCU is a special case. Just a lonely black hole of despair.
the slot machine noise is amazing

Super Mario Bros.penny slot???
kind of i can't find it anywhere, also they played the power towel song which was great

I think its just the Super Mario Bros. coin sound. Not a slot at all(or one that awards credits painfully slow)

It's from sonic the hedge hog IIRC.

I was at the @TCU game last year and their arena is a effing ghost town. This is a joke of a road game and we will take care of business. The only problem we will have tonight is the TCU arena is not big enough to hold our huge nuts.

I am so frustrated with the free-throw shooting. I just don't understand how young men that have been playing the game of basketball for most of their lives can continually miss a damn free-throw. eff practicing scenarios for free-throws, just rough ridin' make them for crying out loud. They have probably shot thousands in there life it's not like it's something new. :shakesfist:

Kansas State Football / Re: Band Day

Was band day the reason we supposedly had the 6th biggest crowd of all time at BSFS last night for umass?

Also, as I was walking back to my seats past one of the bands, I distinctly heard two of the flute players in a heated argument. One of them said "you have no right to talk about me like that!" I don't know what that was about, and I don't want to.

Probably. I'm not sure why we haven't cut band day. We are not hurting when it comes to recruiting kids to play in the KSUMB. Also, It's not like we are KU and need all the bands to bump our attendance numbers.

I just don't even know anymore. I had TCU as a dark horse to win, but now? Whoever does come out on top of the :bs: is going to get fisted by some PAC 12 team in the Fiesta Bowl.

My two band day wtf is this observations:

1) One band in the south end zone (a T-shirt band) had two dudes standing in line without instruments.  They weren't doing anything - maybe their forgot their instruments or sucked so bad they weren't allowed to have them on the field.

2) Almost all band kids were confined to the "temporary" bleachers in above the south end zone seating.  However, to go down to the field they went north and down to the field that way.  However, hundreds of band kids magically appeared just before halftime and came down via the south end zone stairs.  I honestly don't think these kids had seats anywhere in the stadium.  It was almost as if they had them watching the game in Bramlage or something.

The kids without instruments are most likely the drum line. During the performance Dr Tracz does not allow any other drums on the field besides the KSUMB drum line. It's already hard enough to make sure that they all stay together without high school drums rough ridin' up the tempo.

home of the chiefs is funny because it makes everyone else real steamed.
no, its just dumb. if they want to say home of the chiefs move back to kansas city
i'm going to yell it even louder now just because it makes you so mad
But why would you want one of the most losery, grossest, white trashiest teams/fanbase in the entire world associated with the Cats? May as well start showing NASCAR highlights mid-game.

We seem to have a lot of differing views on when to get this fire started. I could get behind burning this mother down now, because this season is gonna suck. But, this team will charm me and get my hopes up and then smash them. Either way I'm gonna be  :drink:

I voted for TCU only because it said "loosing"    :D

Damn, no matter how many times you look at something. :curse:

Dude you should have left it like it was.  Embrace your inner WackySquawk.  Change it back.

Eh, I'm kind of a stickler for that stuff.

We are playing West Texas Sand Aggie tonight. Score prediction, K-State 80-40.

I'm so fired Up!!! I just got through painting my dog purple, and we're totally gonna do some mescaline in honor of playing Cactus Aggie tonight. After the game while we're still tripping balls, we're gonna call up oscar and be like, "Hey oscar! I think you forgot Michael Orris in Lubbock!" And just for a split second he's going to think, "Shitt! Where is Michael? gE is never going to let me live this down. Fvck! Oh wait, there he is, whew!" Then we're totally gonna hang up on his ass and go pick up some bitches.
