If Glover gets a med-redshirt, will he stick around? Ames is certainly solid.
Also, I see Davion Bradford is back in the portal, trying to find a few more NIL cents.

I see CB Marques Sigle from North Dakota State recently signed with the ‘Cats. He entered the portal after their last regular season game. North Dakota State will be playing South Dakota State for FCS championship on January 8th.

You all must be joking but TCU isn’t a Catholic school. Texas Christian University is affiliated with the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  The First Christian Church history began two hundred years ago on the American frontier when many people from different cultural and church backgrounds were thrown together in search of religious freedom in the American West. I know, nobody cares.
Sounds like a bunch of old west nut jobs met up on their horses and invented a new religion. No thanks.

It’s a pretty big cult, they have a church in Manhattan.

I don’t give a eff about Tulane. eff OU. eff the haters. KState motherfucking football.

Agree!!  We are Kansas State.

If Weber gets canned at the end of the year, we will get a new coach and many new players. Better or worse with the transfer portal? Will 1 or 2 or 7 current players leave?  Just asking.
Then we can root for them while playing for other teams like everybody did for Angel. Can’t wait, there will be so many other games to watch!!!

I'll field this one...

First of all, no one gives a eff about the program now, so whatever happens to whomever the players are on the current squad is really no big deal.

Second, if these players can be recruited and signed by oscar rough ridin' Weber, the new dude can convince them to stay (assuming he wants them).  EASILY.

You may be right, Manhattan is a Mecca for future all-Americans. They flock there.

Transfer portal up to 771 now. How many of these kids are going to be left out to dry?
There’s not going to be greener grass for all of them. Some teams losing 7 - 8 players.
How is this good for college basketball? Looks like a disaster to me.

So far: Texas and TCU 3 apiece. Huggins has 2 leaving with one being a 6-9 soph headed to Kentucky.

Way different than football, there will be places for all players who are D1 quality. There are 357 D1 programs and I'm willing to bet that all 357 currently have scholarships available. If anything, in basketball the transfers have more of an adverse effect on late signees.

Sigh of relief.  I wasn’t sure the 8 guys leaving Wisconsin-Green Bay would all find a new home.

Incarnate Word you mean

word.

Can you imagine trying to replace Petrakis without being able to draw from this?

   sure. Good point.

600+ Already swimming in transfer pool, some teams losing 4 or 5 players.
I would hate to see D Gordon leave, good player, good student.

oscar is still landing 3 stars, yes, but 2 are top 150 3 stars (currently the top 130 are 4 stars and higher on Rivals). Murphy is #138, Gordon is #144, getting top 150 guys is an improvement. Gordon is also a late bloomer, didn't start Varsity until later in HS, uncommon for someone who is Mr Chicago Basketball. IIRC Diarra was also a late bloomer, didn't focus on basketball until later in high school. IMO oscar has been good at identifying who isn't just great in high school, but who has potential to be a great college player.

Our biggest deficiency is consistently getting good bigs. Wade is the exception. Guard talent has been and will continue to be a strength.

To add, IIRC, Wade grew dramatically late in his high school career.  Coupled with his small town status, that thinned out competition for him quite a bit.

Agree Big Sam, D. Gordon will need to fill out too. Thin but very quick. The other Gordon, Antonio, from Oklahoma, must be growing as we speak. Probably a legit 6-8, listed at 6-9 on ESPN and Tulsa World has him “Antonio Gordon, Lawton Ike 6-10 Sr.” ( 2nd team Oklahoma 5A State Tournament team)

Last update on young Mr. Gordon.
Seems like a humble kid with a good upside.

DaJuan Gordon scored 10 for Curie. Maybe better today in consolation game.

Belleville West w/ size clearly the better overall team.

This kid should help.  DaJuan Gordon plays in Peoria tonight.

4A: Belleville West (32-4) vs. Curie (34-1), 7:15 p.m.
The game of the weekend. The Belleville West Maroons are the defending Class 4A state champions and the Chicago Curie Condors are the state’s current top-ranked team.
“It’s going to sell tickets,” Curie coach Mike Oliver said. “I love the challenge and we got it. I told the guys if you want to be the best we have to go down there and beat Belleville West.”
Both teams are experienced and have star power. For Belleville West it is EJ Liddell, an Ohio State recruit and the reigning Mr. Basketball. For Curie it is DaJuan Gordon, the Sun-Times Player of the Year and Kansas State recruit.

Where are all the Weber haters?  Crying in your rooms for a week, hey, mommy is calling you for din din.
What a bunch know-nothing simpletons.
I'm a Weber hater.  I'm right here.  Have never hidden that fact.  I even gave Wacky my body bag size.  I love the Cats though and will watch them and root for them no matter who the coach is.  I will be joyous in their victories and get pissed off when they lose to Tulsa or let Texas dominate them at home.  I'm Weber hater yes, but a Cat fan first.

Just yankin’ chain. I don’t think Weber is perfect. Great at scheming and getting maximum effort but only average at recruiting. Thank God we didn’t hire another Tanned Tom. Don’t hate cuz Illinois fired him, their alums and admins need to be on meds. Place is f’ed up.

In regards to Brad Underwood: https://www.suntimeshighschoolsports.com/2018/12/17/illinois-brad-underwood-recruiting/

NSIAP.

What the eff, Brad?

Hard to take this story as gospel. Coach Underwood spent 10 years at Western Illinois U as an assistant, he knows homegrown Illinois talent, just wants players that will play his way. I’m rooting for him.

They kinda blew up the premise within the story. They are comparing his number of visits to those of DePaul and Chicago State, I would sincerely hope they are at roughly a billion more Chicago games than Illinois. They also mentioned his surgery recovery and the fact that he needs to spend more time with his shitty team. The much more interesting story is one within the one linked about why Illinois didn't offer the chubby baller at flood aggie.

Yep. And pissing off Chicago Simeon not a good move.

Well you're just a Weber-hater hater. Look in the mirror!

Still includes him.

Exhibit A
But he's a KU fan bud.  Never hidden that fact as far as I can tell.

What a treat this thread would be if oscar got Calipari.

Agree, that would be a treat but if it’s close, the ref’s will fix it.
We will probably be in foul trouble by halftime.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: Makol Mawein
« on: March 19, 2018, 07:36:56 PM »
My guy/gal cat97 is consistent, come in and complain that Mak was mentioned in non glowing ways but avoids the actual critique leveled.

He did hit two huge FTs in the second half.

Critrique seemed to target Mawiens inability to catch post passes and his breakdowns on help defense.  I addressed both.  Does not mean you agree with me.
Now we have Weber claiming Mawien is one of the best ball screen defenders in the country and Lowrey saying Mac is a great ball screen defender.  Both those guys actually know more about defense than I do.  You don't have to agree with them either.

The biggest concern is Mawien getting in early foul trouble against Kentucky but lately Mawien has avoided the moving screens and the arms in the defenders back going for rebounds.  If the refs keep allowing physical play like they have so far in this tournament, we may be OK against UK.

Maybe Love lll gets some time on the floor considering their size like he was used against Texas and Baylor.

20 Pts 33 Possessions
23 Pts 34 Possessions

16 seed or not...just incredible to hold a team to under .70 for both halves.

this was the worst offensive performance in a KSU win in the kenpom era

We had 0 pts the first 11 Possessions
Got 25 pts the next 18
Only scored 13 the next 27 Poss.
Got 12 pts the final 10.

Wasn't anything pretty about our offense tonight.

Sneed 6 pts down the stretch
Barry 8-8 FTs
Maiwen block on Lyles when a layup cuts it to 44-43 with 90 seconds.
Fun stuff. But Nerve racking as heck

Wade has to play against Kentucky and it can’t be like Kam’s return to the lineup. Sneed needs to make at least 4 3’s, like 4 for 8.  Poor shooting from 3 will make this game hard to watch.
