It's harder to win when everyone pays players, apparently.  The recent ruling that would neuter NIL payments to top players seems to make old-school recruiting tactics favored by the blue bloods more viable.

Update: Will Howard's value is 8 million. I would have never guessed he has that high of earnings since it was reported that OSU offered him 1.5 million to land him.

That's a completely made up number.
What does his "value" mean?  His net worth?  His estimated rookie salary in the NFL?

Is there a joke I'm missing here?  Alex Smith ran a 4.78 at the combine.  Will Howard will run a similar time this spring.
Solid contribution to the thread.  It's getting harder and harder to see anything but a bright NFL future for Will (flip a coin for backup or starter, IMO - both incredible outcomes for an unheralded recruit).

(4) top 25 finishes in the past 30 years? It might be time to admit that it's hard to recruit/coach basketball in Manhattan ks
If only Manhattan were as appealing as, say, Ames, Iowa!

Is Chip Kelly going to jump back into another HC job?  Maybe he's waiting another cycle.

I feel like Chip is over the whole recruiting thing and just wants to run the X's/O's of a program and not spend the majority of his time catering to the whims of 18-22 year olds.
Maybe you're right.  Chip does seem legitimately different.  It seems like Oregon still mimics the quirky swagger his teams had, which is a testament to the uniqueness and efficacy of the culture he created there (unless I'm wrong and it started under Bellotti).

Winning a football NIT counts as a natty in my book.
For me it would be more of a Natty Light, but I would make no effort to curtail your irrational exuberance.

The only thing keeping him employed is his buy out and them being broke ass
That and having the highest winning percentage of any OSU head coach since the 1930s, I guess.  Although that oil money could bring a big name to town, I don't think they could hire a better coach who would hang around more than 3 or 4 years with the kind of success Gundy has averaged over his 20 or so years (see Miles, Les).

I'm starting to wonder whether it was a good idea to run off our proven-but-unspectacular Sr. pro-style QB so we could replace him with an unproven dual-threat QB we mostly use as a dink-and-dunk pro-style QB.  On the bright side, our QB hasn't suffered through any major injuries thus far.  This offense is surprisingly painful to watch.

Stan and Wyatt (in their child-like jubilation) seemed to think Daniels could have run for the first down on that last play if he hadn't hesitated mid-way.  Thoughts?

This was a chapter 17 Sun Tzu, stone-cold psychological demolition.  We are led by demigods and fueled by destiny.  Embrace it.

Or maybe KU is just really bad at winning close games.  Either way, what a way to win.

Neither I nor Chris Tennant will save you guys during the apocalypse.  Better get your crap together.

If I'm being honest, though, I did move away from the couch I'd identified as a source of bad luck just before the winning field goal.

Has there ever been a team that has lost more close games in such soul-crushing fashion?  Poor lil bro.

Well... The streak couldn't last forever. I guess a new one can start next year.
With all due respect, compadre, this seems a bit too defeatist given that we were down by 1 with 8 minutes left at the time.  Holy moly.

Someone new needs to be calling plays going forward. This is awful.
I thought so too, but somehow we have 458 total yards (?!).

Through some combination of cocktail intake and family distractions, I somehow thought this was the 4th quarter.  So...I'm here from the imaginary future to tell you that it could be worse.  What a relief!

It wouldn't be a showdown without some Jayhawk touchdowns, guys.  Just try to keep that in mind.  Wouldn't be very sportsmanlike to execute a show up on our in-state buds.  It's our responsibility as purveyors of abundance to help nurse their program back from its prolonged near-death state.

Seconds before that Sigle interception (immediately before the play), Wyatt said something like "This would be a great time to get a turnover."  I laughed at the absurdity at the time but now believe Wyatt may have divine powers.
Wyatt is a pretty devout Wiccan, so that makes sense.
I thought maybe he did it with dowsing rods.  Maybe Wiccan dowsing rods.

Is Klieman suffering through a cold?  Matt Wolters keeps saying that he feels terrible and even looked like he was about to fall over.  I can only assume that he's sick.  Surely they'd be way more worried otherwise and take him off the field.

There are few wastes of time that leave me feeling more empty than watching a game I don't really care about hoping for an upset that never materializes (like NU/OSU).  Would not recommend.

First Texas now tOSU games fans throwing bottles. I'm not sure you can get more classless than the big10 and sec. Shameful
They (and their coach) seem pretty entitled.  How dare you call targeting on us?  Do you have any idea how much we spent on this roster?  Disgusting.

Rooting for Will, but it would be amazing to see the Nubbs win this.  Plenty of blame to go around for this lackluster tOSU showing.  Line was 25.5 points...wow.  Most surprising is that Nebraska looks stout even though Raiola has been nothing special.
