Kansas State Football / Re: what if collein klein is a complete badass?

It would be a terrible look to lose the guy who would have drubbed Notre Dame for a KSU national title, exposed Manti Teo, and won the Heisman if Baylor hadn't had a freakishly athletic and talented team basically perfectly positioned to defeat our lunchpail all stars.  Especially to a middling SEC program like aTm.

Back up the truck!

I'm trying to remember the last time our fans were content with our OC.  Not sure I can do it.  Probably not even James Franklin (once Prince's shock-and-awe honeymoon ended, anyway).

Goshdarn it, Sandstone.  You had to designate an OC "good" in a post while I typed this, didn't you?

I, for one, think Klein has been good-to-outstanding, but I'll caveat that by admitting that I know very little about offensive football strategy and am completely unqualified to judge OCs.

Is it just me, or is our 2024 recruiting surprisingly weak given our recent success?  What's the dealio, yo?

Tucks wouldn't want Dylan Edwards?  I had no idea.  Or are you referring to KU tucks?

How many times has ISU been called for PI on uncatchable balls?  2?  3?  I get that we're the Big 12's new crown jewel, but this is kind of embarrassing.

I decided to watch the offense try to tie this up or win.  I can't watch the D keystone cop out there.

I turned it off.  I can't take the absurdity.

It's like our offense is normal (but really solid) and theirs is my big brother against me in Madden the 1st time I touched a video game controller.  WTAF.

I think Iowa State prepared all week at Breckenridge or something...or is wearing special cleats no one else has.  Eff me.

Mott made some huge plays.  Forced a fumble and tipped/headbutted two passes, right?  That was impressive.

It was wild to see the offense look so impotent in H1.  Seemed like we were trying too hard to make the run game happen.

A decision between options that are roughly equally justifiable is, by definition, not that big a deal.

Going for it was the right call.  Make a somewhat risky kick (given our shaky fg game) to enable at best a 50/50 2nd OT?  No way.  Gotta think we had something like a 40% chance of scoring on that play.

That was one of the weirdest and most frustrating games ever.  The cats made so many fundamental errors that it hardly seemed fair they had a chance to win it.  But they did.  Twice.

It felt like we were playing one of the most talented and disciplined teams in the history of CFB in the 1st half, and they just crumpled in the 2nd half.  Wild.  I hated almost the entire game.  It was so painful to watch.

Where do you pull these percentages from?      I think we would have had a 100% chance if we continued the game.... :)
The estimate of our odds in the 2nd OT boils down to being at a disadvantage when the other team gets the ball 2nd (and knows whether a FG is a good option).  I think that's pretty obvious.

As for the odds of scoring on 4th down, it's called a guesstimate.  I'm pretty sure it's not all that difficult to estimate the odds of getting a TD from a few yards out on one play.  You're right, though - I did not get this estimate from a football simulator.  You win the argument.  Good job.

The start of this game felt like a low-T KSU hoops team of yesteryear self-destruct in a rowdy AFH.  What an absolutely awful 1st half.  Miraculous that we were down only 10 at half.

Aside from KSU, Utah and CU under Prime, this conference is poop. We should be in the ccg at least every other year.

TCU, Baylor, TTU all have the resources and fan support to be contenders.  Once OSU rids themselves of Gundy they can be solid again too.
Seems to me that Mike Gundy is the best thing not named Boone Pickens to happen to OSU football since the invention of the Apple IIe.  Weird take.  "Get rid of that one exceptionally successful head coach, you guys, and the sky's the limit!"

Maybe Gundy's spray tan or his politics annoy you.  Get over it, and stop giving moustache aggie bad advice.

Did they get a penalty for that helmet-to-helmet hit?

Total yards early in q3: 439 to 34.  Holy crap.

I used to get this butthurt over CFB losses, but it's just not worth it, bros(ephines).  I can come away from today happy knowing that we got to witness (and nearly benefitted massively from) a coaching faux pas for the ages (Drink's failure to get his FG squad on the field the first time).  He is one lucky dude.

Surely we can all agree that playing an injured 9th-year senior QB and a true freshman QB on the road are both bad options.  I put the blame squarely at Jake Rubley's feet.

ITT: Lots of people overreacting to a mildly bad loss (about a touchdown worse than the spread) that was due in no small part to our QB (apparently) getting injured.

You won't find me arguing, but if you look up the award there are like 24 recipients.

Didn't believe this until I googled "nacda athletic director" and lol.
Sounds like a Who's Who in Athletic Directing situation.

Well...if there *is* a legitimate and elite award for the best AD, they should give it to Gene and maybe consider renaming it after him and engraving his likeness on it.

I had no issue with Tang's comments or with Cal's either, really (though I understand why calling Nowell a "little kid" rubbed ppl the wrong way)  Dowling can certainly say whatever he wants, and I'm sure the players liked him standing up for them, however silly leaping on Twitter might (or might not) have been.  That's the end of my commentary.  Now let's get back to enjoying the W.

20
He referred to all the players as kids, didn't he?  I thought it was a subtle dig until then.  Whatever.  I think Cal just doesn't care at this point.  He's got nothing left to prove and money coming out of his ears.  Bad look for Dowling to engage in a petty Twitter monologue, IMO.  Especially after Tang kind of eschewed decorum by brushing aside UK's tradition and saying he has better dudes.

Also...lame to judge anyone (esp a HOF coach) by a pissy tourney-exit presser.  WGAF?  Maybe his heart was in the right place, but just enjoy the W, amigo...damn.

22
The chant is juvenile and makes our student section look boorish and dumb (and inconsiderate of innocent youngsters in attendance), but Tang retweeted a video clip of it.  Maybe it doesn't bother him as much as he has implied.  Whatever.  Replace it with something more clever and/or classy - problem solved.  I don't get the attachment to this "tradition" - particularly if our coveted new coach hates it.

23
It was bold of the cats to embarrass Gus Fring on his home turf like that.  Jerome Tang: "I am the one who knocks!"

24
He seems to be really good at picking/hiring coaches.

So Michigan snapped the ball into the QB's legs on the last offensive play, and Ohio State botched an attempted game-winning kick?  I'll have a spring in my step tomorrow, even if it means an SEC team advanced to the final.

Go, frogs!  I want only the best opponent for the proxycats anyway.
