This is just an appreciation post for Werners in downtown mission. I'd been there a couple of times to get some fresh grilled brats on Saturdays but never ate at the deli inside.

Is the deli amazing? Nah bro. Is it bougie? Absolutely not. Can you get a rueben/Any other sandwich for $6 over lunch? Yes, yes you can and its pretty good.

https://wernerswurst.com/menu.html

Also they will give you a rewards punch card type thing for a free sandwich and then punch two when you buy a single sandwich. I'm totes sold.
Im literally moving to a block south of this joint tomorrow. Its on my list. Hell yeah

bro there’s a lot of good food in that area
Hell yeah I’m all for it. Hoping to be able to walk everywhere. Living in Independence i have missed walking and being out in the evenings so I am very excited.

If any other Mission-ites want to get together some time this summer that would be rad. Also ChiCat reached out about starting a trivia team at Westport on Thursday nights. I think we should start one if anyone else is game

Went to Jim's with Chicat last night. I felt like it was everything I want in a bar. Good, simple sandwiches under $15, good, simple drinks under $10, cozy vibe, staff with fun banter, and the Royals game was on.

Then we went to Howdy/Farewell for a show. Quite a vibe shift.
Big Vibe shift. Shows at farewell are great. Great DIY venue

First team listed on "Last 4 In"...

If we could win the series against WVU and avoid a sweep next weekend at Cincy, I think we're safely in.

Lose both series (2-4 or worse) and flip a coin (barring a long run in the Big 12 tourney, which is now single elimination).

Austin would be tough but never say never. Last year was fun and the guys will have their work cut out for them if we make it to the Regional.

I have lived in Independence for two years now. Places i frequent are Tim’s Pizza (Cash or Check only) which is off of Highway 40 on the way to Cable Dahmer.
The Courthouse Exchange is downtown Independence proper but their service has been slow the last few times I have been but I have never been on a Saturday night.
Saints Pub is also close/just across the highway and has decent food. Its the same restaurant as the one in Olathe/Lenexa area if you have been to that one.

Might be worth it to go the extra mile or two down the road to Blue Springs. Would recommend Brewers or East Forty Brewing before the show. Both local and good food/brews.

I will also be at the show! Im very excited for it.

Big fact about Topeka. The I-70 project is the most annoying thing for Kansas City Cats heading west to the purple mother land any day of the week.

I literally bought a car from a dealer last week because of the tariff threat.

Si also has the bigger/better infotainment system, 12 speaker Bose sound system vs the normie 8 speaker and red interior, heated front seats with a moon roof.

I burnt out so many clutches in my youth lmao
I think the newer cars are much harder to burn the clutch up on. Should be interesting. None of the model I want are in the Kansas City area so back to the motherland (ICT) I go.
this is true.  computer controlled throttle/rev matching help with the N - 1st and actually any shift changes.
Yeah looking at a Civic Sport vs a Civic Si. Figure this will last me a while either car just would like to drive both to see if the difference in 150 HP in the auto to a 200 HP in the manual. Cause if so I think I can justify the extra cash plus I don't think I will mind a manual.

Back in the olden days
I am looking at a new stick shift car in the year of our lord 2k25

Anyone here daily drive a vehicle with a manual transmission?

Navy Seals Kidnap a Family and then have to fight for survival while destroying a block.
It's an anti war movie. Pretty easy to tell that from the get go.

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: 201* Concert Thread
« on: April 21, 2025, 09:42:57 AM »
Went to Kendrick and sza last night in Minneapolis. It was my first stadium show and the first show I've ever seen that opened a tour. US Bank Stadium is awesome, easily the nicest stadium I've ever been in. I was supposed to go to the final four there in 2019, but my last child was born that week. I'll definitely go to their next final four though.

The show was really good, sza didn't open for Kendrick, they alternated between doing their own stuff and songs they have together. Because of this set up, at least one of them was on stage for 2.5 hours without a break. There was also no set, so no set changes. Kendrick started alone, sza had a massive crowd pop when she got on stage. It's hard to tell which of them had more fans, there were a lot of young white girls there, it really did feel like a Taylor Swift concert. And the most merch were clearly sza jerseys and a lot of hilarious knockoffs. I was pretty easily the oldest person on the light rail we arrived on and I only saw one person clearly older than me, a white woman there with her son who was very loudly begging her for money. The people sitting behind us were Kendrick super fans who came to Minnesota from LA. I was pretty shocked at how many people went to the concert at our hotel, we didn't even stay downtown, and how many concert shirts I saw leaving Minneapolis today.

Anyway, really good concert even though the sound was pretty meh, guessing that's standard for stadium shows, and realizing that I really don't know many sza songs, maybe 5?
Awesome! Had some family go. They seemed to really enjoy themselves. Glad you got to see them too!

Saw Warfare yesterday.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31434639/

Was one of the most stressful/intense movies I have ever seen. Would recommend if you go to see on the biggest screen possible.

Is that streaming somewhere?
No it is only in theaters and is a theater movie. Definitely go if you are interested.
