Kslim, bro.  Come on man.
hey I love Kansas but I will never blame someone for wanting to move somewhere else. Especially an 18 year old kid. It's dumb and very tuckish

No, I meant come on with the he picked clemson cause it has a beach garbage.
ive been there it's actually pretty nice. But I have no idea why he picked Clemson. That wasn't my point

I get your point.

And I'm not blaming the decision making of an 18 year old kid.  I'm blaming the coaching staff for being marginal recruiters and their total inability to capitalize on the success of the program over the years by building a culture around our program where it's ingrained into the state's top players to play for the state's top college football program like many other schools in our position have done.  Basically, exactly what Gary Pinkle has done at Missouri.

Don't kid yourself, Xavier Kelly isn't going to Clemson because of the allure of playing golf at Hilton Head.  He's there because of Brent Venables.

yeah except Pinkel hasn't really done that at MU.  He loses kids to out of state programs all the time.  He gets more than we do to stay home but he's also the only power 5 football school in the state.   The Pinkel shutting down the Missouri borders stuff is one of the biggest false narratives out there.

247 calls him a hard commit to KU... doesn't sound like he is anymore...

He's coming to visit here the weekend before he's suppossed to report to KU.  I don't think he's exactly a hard commit.  I don't know if he's any good or not but I'm pretty sure he's ours.

KU did have three players drafted this year but they've only had four players total drafted in the past five drafts combined.  They were a senior laden team built to peak in 2014 and they won three games. They finished out of the big 12 cellar for the first time in five years so I guess mission accomplished and now it's back to rebuilding.

It's hard to believe but going into next year the KU roster has the least amount of talent and depth of any point in the past decade.  Charlie Weis absolutely left that thing gutted and void of young talent.

Snyder is pretty well known for stealing signals especially in the early years.  The urban legend is that in the 95 KU game Stoops and co had the defense looking to the KU sideline to get their defensive call.  If you watch that game we were all over them the entire time like we knew exactly what was coming. Gary Barnett once accoused Snyder of having bugs in the visitors locker room.  Tom Osborne started covering his mouth when he sent in plays around the time Snyder came into the league.  He was actually paranoid that Snyder was going to somehow have somebody reading his lips and stealing the ball.

I counted and the roster has 124 guys on it.  So if 58 were former walk ons that means that 66 of them came on scholarship.  We normally run at about 80 ships, so roughly 15 former walk ons are now on ship.  That seems about right to me.  IT's going to be higher than most programs but not outragous.  Any team with a 125 man roster is going to have at least 40 current walk ons and likely some former walk ons now on ship.

I think ku is holding their own here.. Not to shabby
Their defense looks solid, but like last season the garbage offense is going to keep the D on the field and wear them out.

I think their defense just looks solid next to to their offense.  It still one of the worst defenses in the big 12.  A true freshman rb went for 245 yards on them with just 12 carries today.

Ideas for a used car under $25K with nice options and reliability?  I keep coming back to an Acura TL, Toyota Avalon, Lexus ES 350 and RX 350.  I am in a rut on this car search.

I want to be able to drive this thing for 5 - 7 years or so.

My wife drives a 2011 Infiniti G37X and loves it.  They just discontinued the G37 you coud get a 2012 for under 25 and maybe even a 2013 for that.

He should get into coaching.  He'd do well and rise up the ranks fast.  Funny that people say that Snyder somehow used this kid up by running him too much.  The reality is he took a marginally talented kid with great heart and work ethic and turned him into a heisman trophey finalist by playing to his strengths.

ISU takes it and easily.  NDSU lost a ton including their coach and QB.  Pretty much all the advantages they had in past BCS wins are not going to be present for this game.

This news really does make my day.  So awesome!

It wasn't a simple misunderstanding.   It was made needlessly complex by an outdated policy.

What is still amazing to me is, that some people still don't appear to grasp that Romero was ultimately denied by a committee which appears to be led by Pat Bosco.

So the question that remains unanswered, why did the committee which is apparently lead by Pat Bosco, deny the original request?  (those that subscribe to the absurd theory that Pat Bosco is just a John Currie puppet boy need not respond)

She was denied by John Currie and than lost an appeal to the committee.  If she hadn't been denied by Currie it never would have gone to the committee.  I don't have an opinion of Pat Bosco one way or another but I think by the time it gets to that committee your chances of getting what you want are pretty slim.  You're going to have to show some special hardship or something along those lines that would compel them to overturn the AD's decision.  As crappy as the rule is IMO it's still within the power of the AD to deny a release.  Leti wasn't going back home to be with a sick family or anything like that.

is there not room to be excited about the potential we have with Waters?

No

Dumb.

The thing that worries me about Waters is we have one real threat around him.  He can't make plays on his own and we have one legit WR for teams to worry about.  We have the worst RB sitaution in the big 12 and our 2,3, and 4th WR are guys like Sexton, Klein and Burton.  I doubt any of them run below a 4.6.

How hard is it going to be for teams to take away Lockett when he is literally the only guy on our offense that can hurt you?  We saw in the Baylor and OSU games last year that Waters was helpless without his dynamic WR's and Sams at least gave us a chance to get something done.

Wacky, I'm really worried about your BP.
Thanks man. I'm working on it. Can confirm my mother and I are not fat. It's mainly the caffeine in take, stress, and booze in take. I have been slowing down on all of those here recently tho.

Have you considered meditation?
I'm willing to look into it. She referred some ppl to see. She also referred a specialist for that bald spot that showed up on the back of my head last year. Propecia. Man i'm crumbling the the last year of my 20's.  :runaway:

Propecia will kill your sex drive.  I wouldn't mess with that crap if I were you.  Either suck it up and accept the baldness or try rogaine.

I agree. He can make decisions but he's not built to do that slow-to-develop power run.

But we've got to run some power to set up the run action seam route.

I don't think this is going to work anymore.  It worked last year even with Waters because teams spent all week preparing for the QB power.  Now without Sams to prepare for I don't know why teams would even worry about defending that play.  Jake can run it and pick up a few yards here and there but he can't just line up and beat you with it like Sams could.

his stats are accurate. The problem wasn't quick scores, it was our inability to move the ball once OU took away the deep ball.

We didn't even really try to run the ball (22 attempts) and the running game we did have (1.1 YPC) was pathetic. Of course if we don't find a little more balance in the offense we will be in big trouble.

Should we expect to find more balance in the offense next year? Should we expect an improved running game?

No if anything I expect it to get worse.

My meltdown happened a long ass time ago. Like, during the season when Sams never got to play.

I'm convinced the "never question Snyder" people took a nap through the Texas game.

That might be true, but I still contend 2 things that influenced last season greatly came from that game.

 a) The Texas game built the case (for the coaches) to play Waters more (not less) because it proved his connection with Lockett. I put together a blog post breaking down the diverse combination of things we did in the passing game that day that helped lead to Lockett's huge day. I think (largely) the decision to go with Waters was made after that game, but Lockett's injury changed what would happen the next several weeks.

b) As a result, Lockett's injury led to Sams playing more (not less) against OSU and BU because that connection (and Waters' strength in this offense) was lost. I don't believe the coaches ever thought Sams could run the same package or have quite the same connection with Lockett in the passing game that Waters did (and the playcalling run/pass percentages confirm that). Again, Snyder and his staff have always shown they'll do what's necessary to win, and running Sams a bunch vs OSU and BU was our only shot. However, I don't think the coaches thought that plan was sustainable for an entire season and that led to going back to Waters more and more once Lockett got healthy again.

I think you're right about this and I remember you pointing out the promise of the Waters to Lockett connection after the Texas game.  Some on here may see this as an insult but I think your mind more closely resembles the coaches' minds than anybody else on this board or anyone on any KSU message board I've seen.

So I think this is pretty much it in a nutshell.  Snyder tends to look at each year and figure out what his best offensive threat is.  Once he identifies that he builds everything to take advantage of that threat.   He probably does this because we are K-State and don't normally have an abundance of offensive playmakers.  A few years ago it was Daniel Thomas, after that it was Klein and his QB run game.  With this team our advantage was and is Lockett and Waters does the best job of allowing us to exploit that advantage.

I remember being frustrated as eff by young Beasley's and Roberson's.  Sams was easily better than both as a young player.  Sams was, at one point, on a trajectory to be the best QB this university has ever seen.

GMAFB with this nonsense.  He couldn't even win the position outright.  Just like he didn't in high school.

El didn't win the position outright until several games into his redshirt junior season and his competition wasn't as good as Jake Waters.  Beasley didn't have much competition to beat out and was still pulled and replaced with a walk on in several games during his junior season.

If you compare Sams as a sophomore to the other sophomore Snyder Qb's we've had he was the best we've seen and there is no debating that.

Do we really give a crap if she goes to NORTHERN COLORADO? I mean really.

Exactly I mean if she likes those coaches well enough to follow them there than so be it.  They obviously didn't use her as leveridge to land those jobs.

21
The only downside to this whole thing is if no one has actually talked to Leti.  Is that really a possibility? I find it hard to believe she is part of some elaborate lying scheme.  KState would save face be sitting down with her and keeping her up to date on the process.  It is unlikely an 18 yr old anywhere would understand the complications that come with staffing changes.  It is also likely they could have swayed her to be positive about the experience had the university been up front with her.  Honestly, I would bet the farm she will get her release before the summer.

Saw this in the comments, is it true?

"Last year Kansas State did not release a football player Manase Foketi after he graduated and wanted to go play near home. If you go to Kansas state it is like going to prison. stay away kids."

Yes that is true on Foketi though it was a couple of years ago not last year.  KSU's reason was they filed the paperwork to get him a medical redshirt therefore he owed them another year.

He said he wanted to play wr, and he's so emaw, what am I missing?

only thing I could think of, would be the rumors of him being 37th on the WR depth chart are true

He played with the first offense and only a handful of wrs did.

Ron Prince's hiring was much more racially motivated than his firing was.

There are articles where Angel said he spent several weeks pondering a transfer but gave oscar a chance to re-recruit him.  oscar was quoted several times during this period saying he thought everybody was coming back but wasn't for sure on Angel.  It's pretty obvious that a transfer was discussed with Angel at some point in time after oscar was hired.

It's just a matter of what he was told when he brought up the subject.  Somehow they convinced him to stay when nobody thought he was likely to do so.   So he stays and the year went about as well as it possibly could have for both him and the team.   Yet he decides to transfer anyway when everybody thought it was a dead issue.

25
Who has actually been denied? Romero and that offensive lineman a couple years ago? That's all I can remember.

the only two that didn't know how to play the game.

Lamark brown was denied a release and therefore had to sit out a year even though he transferred down a level.
