Penn beat Villanova and handled then relatively easily, although they tried to blow a decent lead.

Meadowlark is a successful football coach, and I refuse to believe that any successful football coach at any level is above ransacking his former program to benefit himself. It actually makes sense that he is finishing the season if his plan in the end is to poach all of his best talent.

We'll see, but I think ADGT would be against it as well.  Clearly, he has a strong sense of loyalty to NDSU.

I only want Phoenix Sproles. I'd want Easton Stick, only because he can do this
but he's a senior

:sdeek:

Not a good start for the meadowlark with his first WC hand symbol. or whatever your geek burgers call it.

I never thought he'd be a pinky out kind of man.

Hopefully he’s gone in three years one way or another so that Venzy can come home after his son graduates? :dunno:

That toot addict still has a son in high school. His kids graduating from college won't magically grant him ambition in his 50's. He's perfectly happy being Bud Foster and John Chavis, I guess some people just aren't comfortable with ultimate responsibility.

We might assemble the whitest staff of all time.
past KSU staffs already hold that record
he needs 2 DL coaches who are african american and have ties to the best recruiting territories
and now we have extra money to entice some

What the eff does this mean?

1. It's interim
2. When would we get these "better options?" Is Sean going to turn us to Florida State during his interim period?

I liked that he said he thought he did a pretty good job at the interview

Pretty frustrating when you nail the interview but don't get the job.

It's like when you get involved in one of those gift exchanges where people steal gifts and one person brings lottery tickets. Everyone knows that the lottery tickets are going to be worth maybe $1 or $2 at best, but they still get stolen on the remote possibility that they are winners because the other gifts are all crappy enough that it doesn't really matter if you go home empty handed.

Man, that's great

12
Jesus he's desperate to get the job

Shouldn't he be?

13
It's fairly reasonable to assume that we've had some sort of communication with the following:
Brent Venables
Seth LittreLL
Ryan Day
Chris Klieman
Jim Leavitt
Mike Norvell
Neil Brown

Who knows what other coaches/agents have either contacted Gene or the search firm and vice versa

Where did your get Ryan Day from? Haven’t heard him mentioned anywhere. Why would he talk to us if he’s taking over Ohio State?

ESPN reported he was a candidate for our job, that was before Urban Meyer retired, that almost certainly came from one of his people.

Amazing how people think emailing the admin and general bitching is worthless/stupid/waste of time/=our AD is a puss for listening

hmmmm

"Pay Frank".......

Think there is a difference between advocating for a raise for a basketball coach who had taken K-State bball to heights it hadn't reached in 20 years and people thinking they have an idea what head coaching candidate gives the football program the best chance to win going forward.

The amazing thing about the prolonged KSO meltdown is that they absolutely know who is going to win and who won't, some have no issue professing it as fact. Speaking of kso, did we permanently lose dlew to them?

I genuinely hate a large, large percentage of the K-State fan base.

Then dont comment, the donors do like a large percentage of them

I'm a donor and I hate nearly everyone that doesn't post here.

A year featuring an incredibly low overall turnover among power 5 coaches should significantly benefit any of the "middle of the pack" power 5 schools - there is a significant amount of seasonality/timing to this whole charade. Quite literally, as it's shaped up, K-State couldn't have asked for a better time to seek a new football coach with respect to other openings across the country.

In most years (hardcore reality), K-State wouldn't have a solid chance at guys like LittreLL or Brown or Norvell or Clark (just for JRake). Yet, there's a decent possibility K-State chooses Klieman - a guy who exactly zero Power 5 schools would legitimately consider as a head coach (for reasons articulated to the nth degree).

Gene Taylor made an absolute dogsh!t/give-up/woe-is-us hire in his first attempt at K-State (our current baseball coach).

Why expect anything different for football?

Thinking the stars are aligned so we have a once in a generation chance to hire Neal "Ben Shapiro" Brown is as small-timey as it gets

Let’s not nitpick over the relevant part to his general point. We are a solid P5 program with almost no competition for coaching hires this year. Yet it seems we’re about to squander that opportunity to hire a FCS coach that no other P5 school would even give the time of day.

Hell, KU, one of the most pitiful P5 programs currently went out and got them selves a name, even if that name is a tired retread.

Nitpick over the relevant part? He blew the entire post and premise up. There is no such thing as a homerun hire for most college football programs. Acting like LittreLL, Norvell, Satterfield, and Brown is silly as hell. Most hires made out of that mold fail too. Our pool of candidates would look the exact same any year we'd attempt to make a hire. The chance of any of these decent group of 5 coaching having success at any average P5 program is exactly the same, and that includes Klieman.
One thing I like about CK is he's slightly different. Lower level experience but unprecedented success. IMO he has the most potential upside because of this

Agreed. Also comparing him to other FCS coaches is dumb.

Is it being announced today? Anyone know? What a disaster if it is NDSU coach

Hey Clover, have you thought of emailing Gene about it?

Were any of the people we’re talking to under consideration for any of these jobs?

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-coaching-changes-carousel-tracker-grades-breakdowns-for-new-2018-19-hires/

Who knows but Norvell is a similar candidate to Geoff Collins and Brown is similar to Scott Satterfield.

Don’t be silly. Those all HAD recruited across the Arizona to Florida corridor in the past. They had the network structure to rekindle and invigorate. Klieman doesn’t. It’s big Big 10 and northern plains.

Is there a special password to get into high schools in Texas that other states don't have? Either way, if it really is that important he can hire an assistant with Texas ties. If the comes here we'll have at least half of the coaching staff staying anyway.

NDSU has kids currently on team that have turned down offers from:
Iowa
Missouri
Purdue
Minnesota
Boise State.

Klieman can recruit, he has a system that is successful and would work at Kansas State.

There’s almost nothing on your roster that indicates he recruits in our critical success areas for P5 programs. He’s getting Big 10 scraps in the Northern Plains areas. That won’t cut it.

The he doesn't recruit Texas argument is amazingly dumb. Chris Peterson doesn't recruit Texas would we not want him either? Scott Frost didn't recruit Texas, should Nebraska have hired Seth LittreLL instead?

K-Stateo?

?s=19

That thread has Wolford's family advocating for him from their foundations account. Also has John Krull, who's son Lucas spurned K-State for Florida, advocating for Wolford.

Why are we playing on these stupid rough ridin' obscure networks like every game :flush:

Should ESPN own the rights to every conference?
