Kansas State Football / Re: Nebraska's struggle for relevance.
« on: November 04, 2014, 02:06:27 PM »
On the old K-State fans site, in 2000, I predicted that Nebraska would fall into irrelevancy. My prediction was that K-State might actually win a conference championship and even a National Championship before Nebraska.   In 2010, when Osborne and Pearlman decided to go to the Big 10, little did they realize they completed the final stages of the prophecy.   In 2015, there will be graduating class at Nebraska that will have never experienced a championship, conference or national. We're only 6 wins left from winning the NC (note:  I'm only focused on TCU at the moment.)

You acknowledge that it is not a new concept.

Yes, but I also acknowledge that it doesn't work when your campus was built in a neighborhood.

tailgating at the rose bowl was incredible

Yes. Yes it was.

The fact that you don't see the potential that Jim has in Lawrence is very comical.  Stanford was 16-40 the 5 years before Jim got there.  Once he got his guys in there, Stanford went from being terrible in the Pac-12 to winning the Orange Bowl.  The only reason Shaw has had success is because he inherited what Jim had already built the short time he was there.

The Big 12 is a much better conference than the crap Pac-12 with much deeper recruiting opportunities.  You give the reins to Jim with the opportunities available in Lawrence, watch out.

Delusion has a tendency to make the aspirations and potential seem far greater than it really is.

I personally, would think Jim Harbaugh would be a great addition to the Big 12 because it makes KU competitive and add to the overall strength of the conference.  However, realistically, he *might* be influenced by his wife enough, along with the discontent in SF, to make it more in the realm of reality, but more accurately, within a few feet of the actual outside boundary (ie, almost out of fantasyland, near unicorn avenue.)  However, if the winter passes and it's some coordinator that has ties to Mangino that ends up getting it, how will you spin this as being better than hiring Harbaugh?  I expect your zeal to be at least as intense as your current "You just wait and see!" energy.

To think that Jim would bring anything other than a positive to the Big 12 is hysterical.  The guy has won in the D1 ranks, and turned a franchise around that had been in disarray for years, in the 49ers.  He is hired, drafts Smith and Kap, who have both been successful, yes Smith has had his issues but a very productive player none the less.

In his first season he took the 49ers deeper than they had been in almost 15 years.  The next year after resigning Smith who eventually got hurt Kap started.  When Smith got healthy Jim knew Kap was the future.  That kind of talent recognition is rare in today's coaching landscape.  Apply that to a similar QB in Cozart, unreal potential.

Jim sees the potential that Lawrence provides and is going to make the jump.  I didn't address the OC getting the job because we don't want anything to do with Mangino anymore.

No one was questioning Harbaugh's resume when it comes to building successful teams.  I was questioning your fantasy dream of thinking KU would ACTUALLY sign Harbaugh.    The first step is for Harbaugh to actually say, publicly or privately, he is interested in going to KU and there is movement in terms of negotiations to that effect.  That's a BIG FAT HUGE EFFING IF!   The fact there has been insidery speculation on ESPN that his wife wants to come home and be near family, and that, perhaps at one time, he MIGHT have been interested, says nothing about the current situation.  Far be it from me to throw cold water on your wet dream public spanking of the monkey, by all means.  Just stroke that Harbaugh boner pud.

Jim was coming to KU until Zenger signed Turner, there is really no arguing this fact.  So I don't understand how it is impossible in your mind to think that it wouldn't be probable again.  To say that he has to openly show interest in the position when he clearly wanted it 5 years ago is very short sighted of you.

What has been shown to not be speculation is the animosity between Jim and his GM.  That in itself tells me he will not be back in SF next year.  Which begs the question, where will he go?

Umm.. Lew Perkin's hired Turner Gill, not Zenger.  If you're going to be a sock, you should at least attempt to get the history right...

It's obvious that Les Miles coaches the LSU players to be victims.  This was a set up by the Tigers to give Miss State a hit to their credibility.  Look for LSU to do the same thing to Alabama and Auburn.

A Big XII crew will work the game Thursday night vs Auburn.  Hopefully, the eff job we got from the SEC officials in 07 has been made abundantly clear to them.

 :ksu:

Can you provide a source link on who is officiating?  I have seen other posts here indicating that "SEC" officials officiated the 2007 game too.
The way it normally works when we play other conferences(in fact I think it is a NCAA agreement between the conferences) is that either there is a neutral set of referees agreed upon.(many times at a neutral playing site)  Or that the visiting teams conference refs officiate. Maybe for long distance games they allow the teams to agree to what you are saying. I just would like to see some confirmation on this.

You people and your links.... If it wasn't true, I wouldn't have posted it.

Quote
The Tigers also travel to Kansas State on Sept. 18 in a return trip, which will fulfill a home-and-home contract. Auburn received $425,000 as part of the two-game contract signed Dec. 12, 2006.

A crew from the Mountain West Conference will officiate Auburn's game against San Jose State on Sept. 6. SEC crews will officiate games against Samford and Louisiana Tech. Big 12 officials will oversee the Kansas State game in Manhattan, Kansas.

Well gee wiz .... By the way if you read my post I went out of my way to make sure you didn't think I was calling you a liar.  But many people have posted things that where inaccurate on the internet and I don't know you from a hill of beans. It also goes against what is usual in NCAA.
I didn't say you where wrong either.  I only wanted to confirm it. So thanks except for the sarcasm.
By the way, the folks I met from KSU in 2007 are much different than most of your bunch here.  They where actually quite pleasant.

I hate to tell you this, but the NCAA doesn't decide game officials for regular season games.  They are generally decided by the conference of the home team during the summer, unless contractual agreements state otherwise.

Now, who salts the trees of the opposing teams after the game is played, that's probably an old conference rule somewhere.

Texas quarterbacks are so fragile. I can remember Mark Simoneau tossing Colt around like a rag doll. Or was it another wussy Texas qb? Hell Archer planted a good hit on another Texas qb and knocked him out of the game if not the season

That would be Major Applewhite.

The man is a complete piece of crap.  The country is much better off now that he is out of leadership. Now if we can just get rid of those 95 who backed him. My absolute disdain and lack of respect for that piece of human garbage is beyond description.

I am embarassed that someone used EMAW and him in the same sentence. :barf:

Sure thing, comrade...

Most Husker fans down here live in mobile home parks.  That's the reason he lives in Mesa, that's where most of the trailer parks are.   Invited a couple of husker friends I know over to my house earlier this year, and they thought the pool was a big bathtub and started stripping down and throwing their nasty dirt covered fat asses in the water, poured dish washing soap into the water.  Took me a week to get all the dirt out of the pool, had to replace the filtering system.   Complete poors and trash.

Yeah. I've seen it. That's why I said, don't say dress. That is an SEC tradition. I'm not saying I want to go shirtless and paint letters on my chest, but I'm going to a football game. I want to be able to jump around and not cross my legs if I don't feel like it. But boots and skinny jeans might feel wrong in the desert :dunno: But tennis shoes might feel too casual. I really want to wear my CK hoodie, but it seems the kids here believe the ladies should wear formal gowns to football games.

Boots and skinny jeans are all over the place here in Phoenix.

Can you make it available for mobile? When I try to view on smartphone I get denied.

Little work-around if you want to watch on your mobile...

Due to copyright issues, the only way I've been able to watch on mobile is to download the Vimeo app and search for it through there.  You don't need to create an account though, just search for "Purple cat", "Purple cat eats duck", or "Ruperman22".

Enjoy!

God Bless you.   I have a friend who is a huge Oregon duck fan.  I am going to annoy her greatly with this.

Has anyone heard the deal on RV parking passes?  Allegedly you can't tailgate from the RV spaces?  Don't understand how that can be true.  :sdeek:

My understanding is that Parking area Brown is off limits for tailgating.  RV parking lots area Green and Parking lot F, RV overflow.

Fiesta Bowl holds 73,000 seats.  Game isn't sold out.  Talked to a friend who works with the Fiesta Bowl, says tickets are still available but mostly single seats.

Can you set the video to play on mobile?  I wanted to show this with my phone and couldn't.  Thanks.

yeah tried to play on ps3 and couldn't as well

Ya, unfortunately I have exactly 0% ownership of anything in the vid so Youtube won't allow me to make it available on mobile.  No idea why mobile copyright would be any different than on the web...?

Im gonna see if I can make it available on mobile through Vimeo.  I'll post a link/keep you updated.

Thank you.   :)
