I was in KC this weekend for a kids triathlon. Most of the parents were from Johnson County, you know the type. I was hungover. It was brutal.

At Mizzou, I read Deliverance. At KSU, I studied accounting. That is the difference. Columbia is a world away from Manhattan. (But I still root for KSU in sports EVERY time. It's been in my blood since childhood. I didn't know a skunk wasn't really a jayhawk until I was 12.) Also, St. Louis is a world away from KC. (I root for KC.)

We paint tacky farm scenes on saws and people on vacation from Kansas actually buy them as art. Seriously. Most of my relatives in Kansas have them and a bunch of other awful stuff from Branson. The west side of Table Rock is called Wichita East. Also, Kansans are probably the biggest customers for fireworks; they come here to buy them. But we do make lots and lots of meth. Houses blowing up aren't uncommon. Anyway, I live in the Mark Twain Forest. There was a freakin bear in a tree here the other day.

Fact: Branson is THERE almost totally because of the flatlanders from Kansas and Iowa who actually visit. I am so torn on this Mizzou and KSU thing, obviously. I like them both. Glad they are in different conferences. I just know (have always known) that I hate KU. P.S. I do dabble in moonshine; no meth though. P.P.S. Most folks in Missouri are totally excited about the SEC; I think it's the KC people who have reservations. People in STL could give a crap about the Big 12.

At some point I was climbing a fence (at least this is how I remember it) and we were trying to get the goal post over it. It was very iffy. I think it was this game. I lived down the street at the time, and I would just walk in during the second half without a ticket if it looked like we had a chance to win. We usually got absolutely killed back in the day (as you know).
