I yelled "Roll Snyd" a lot at people. I made small talk with people who thought the elephant hat and phrase were funny, those who didn't like it continued about whatever it was they were doing.

Too scared to say it to me apparently. I would have given you a stern look, and you knew it. Chicken!
dont really have to yell it if you're wearing it right?

well its 50/50 he can/cant read though, so....  CHICKEN

Kansas State Football / FBS league quality wins rankings
« on: September 28, 2014, 08:23:36 AM »
I mentioned in a previous thread of a program I wrote that recurses through games of who beat who to come up with a score that will rank teams based on who beat who.

1.  It only counts FBS team wins against other FBS teams
2.  You get 1 pt for every game you win against a FBS team
3.  You get 1/2 point for every FBS team *that* team beats
4.  Its 1/4 point for 3rd level recursion
5.  In event of a loop the program just bails out and stops awarding points
6.  The program runs down to whatever level you specify.  Obviously the higher level you pick the longer the calcs take.
7.  After week 7 I just cut it off at level 50.  Arbitrary, I know but that seems like a lot.
8.  I get my data from http://prwolfe.bol.ucla.edu/cfootball/scores.htm

So, if you think of what this is doing, you can see what eventually will start to form is a way of comparing what I call "quality wins", or *somewhat* of a strength of schedule, basically using the transitive property "if teamA is better than teamB and teamB is better than teamC then teamA is better than teamC".  Now there is a fault to doing this (the circular loop) but for the most part it gives very interesting results, and even moreso as the season progresses.

After week 5 there have been enough games played for things to become interesting:
Dont be a tard here and go "idiot he is saying TAaM is better than OKlahoma".  If this is your first reaction start over at the beginning of the post and read.

I have written a computer program, I usually give a season about 6 weeks before I run it.  Its basically a quality win calculator where each div1 win nets a team 1 point.  and that winner gets 1/2 point for all it's beaten opponents' wins.  and then recurses to next level for 1/4 point, and so on down to like 64 levels is where I just cut it off.   I developed it when AU was left out of the BCSCG in 2004, and my calc results agreed with the BCS.  Ill run it again soon.  There's no bias, polls, or any BS,  just straight math.  Every year proves the SEC is very rough ridin' strong.

Change it so Power 5 schools get more weight, then non-P5 FBS schools, then FCS schools.  :)

well with the design, what you say isnt needed.  if you beat a power 5 conf school, then you end up getting additional points for that power5 school's wins.  (unless you suggest it needs even more weight)  I just dont give any points for an FCS school, to punish a school for scheduling too much of a cupcake.

have you guys discussed on this board yet about tossing the committee and just going back to the BCS and taking the top 4?

It would be a whole lot better to just use a computer model. Everyone knows the rules up front. They can set their schedule accordingly and just let the chips fall where they may.

Yep, I'm a big proponent of this. It would eliminate human bias created by preseason polls.

dont forget though that human polls are a component of the BCS formula.  But the only reason I can think human bias would be necessary would be to consider teams that dramatically improved during the season after an early loss, or perhaps a team who lost a critical player at the end of the season.  anything else?

though I suppose all that could be modeled as well.

Get with the times bro, they got this new thing this year called the playoff, where they will use stats and math n crap

You can't be serious. It's a rough ridin' popularity contest with ESPN running the gottdam campaigns.

send your sarcasm meter back for recal, bro.

like i said before, not many from AU particularly cares for the CBS or ESPN crew.  see the phrase "math n crap" in retort to the insane "champions are born thing".  if that is true, then by what abhorration of nature are you all here?

The delusion of the SEC-SEC-SEC chanters is simply off the charts in this thread... I try not to blame them wholly, but it is the perfect storm of a bunch of mouth-breathers that are force fed propaganda by ESPN.  Trust me on this, if ESPN had gotten into bed with the Big XII or Pac-12, the talking points would be significantly different.

I'll just leave this here: http://totalfratmove.com/why-the-sec-is-bullshit/

Despite the medium it was posted on, if you can get past the fact that a college kid wrote it, he actually nailed it precisely.

 :buh-bye:

so according to that article, from AU's reference, KSU = powderpuff??  The article goes on and on about MIZZ and AaM, but AU has handled them both.

Also, this:
Quote
First of all, it’s not everyone else’s damn fault that THE Ohio State crap the bed–twice–because they’re rough ridin' overrated and play nobody and yet still get the benefit of the polls. Then you have the year Oklahoma got thumped by Florida, which happened to be the year of the controversial three-way tie between OU, Texas, and Texas Tech–the latter two teams were certainly more prepared to face the Tebow-led Gators
is complete horseshit.

Id say the article is onto something though, about AaM/Mizz offense having some success in the SEC.

You havent spent much time on the AU message boards I take it, the consensus is that Gary and Verne from CBS, along with all the ESPN crew, are dipshits.

The fact is that since 2003, 10 of the BCSCG competitors (4 unique SEC teams) have 8 wins.

Or more likely a cotton bowl rematch.  I know the cotton bowl isnt a playoff bowl this year but I dont know if they will still try for a sec/b12 pair. Or if there will even be one this yeat since I think that stadium has won bids for the big game this year

it's like, there are 100 emoticons, well that won't embed an image. There like this font thing, not going to embed an image. What's this last row, let me start with the icon that looks like and image and creates a tag with "[img]" gosh what does "img" mean? Gosh this so hard, what does "img" mean? Welp I guess you can't post pictures unless you upload them from a computer, let's go ahead and do that.

You just need to fix your fucktarded bbs code.  People are pasting in the forum img links to use from img hosting providers and the shitty code apparently cannot handle it.

At least they didn't stick around to condescendingly tongue your butthole after they beat you.

Like the guy that thinks it would be a big story if there were a rematch.  What a rough ridin' Down's baby.

Thats fine if you are too much of a pussy to want to see whats really up.  This game isnt for everyone.

Its early on a loss now isnt that bad.  I doubt there will be 4 undefeated teams come playoff selection anyways.  The most thats ever ended up so far was 3 in 2004.  Win the conf and see what happens

Would be cool for a playoff rematch between au and ksu.  Assuming au stops playing like crap.  Obvious that au isnt as good as they were last year.  Face it neither team played to potential last night so i think the pair owes the fans this if possible. Besides the actual game itself I loved my experience in and around bsfs. eff the sec ksu in my 2nd fav team now.

Auburn has one of the top red zone defenses sooo...

This. It wasnt just a fluke that the cats had issues in the rz last night. Au red zone defense has been fan rough ridin' tastic the past year.  Was def the best feature of the au team last night.  Well at least tied with your fg kicker.  Poor bastard I really feel sorry for the guy unlike the bama kicker who missed 3 fgs last iron bowl.  Eff him

So bill and gus obviously collaborated together. Its the only explanation.   I feel less of a fan after having traveled and watched this game.  If gm and bs had held hands and simultaneously mooned us all before laying a massive dump on center of the field then Im sure id feel just the same as I do now.

I have never been so unenthused after a w a d I hate myself for being forced to accept it.  Thanks for nothing

Oh and you guys are rough ridin' loud.  An willie acting out the k s u while everyone hollers was awesome.  Your gameday experience is first rate.  If I wasnt an au fan id be a wildcat.  Everyone was great and welcoming.

Kansas State Football / ive just had confirmation of an AU win
« on: September 18, 2014, 10:01:56 AM »
I mean i was at 75% confidence yesterday.  But i now have clarity in the ineptness of people in KS.  I called my hotel yesterday to confirm a late checkin and the nice lady said it wasnt necessary but that shed put a note in my file anyways.

So i show up even  an hour later than expected because the  flight crew couldnt vet their crap together.  And dont try to say they were KU either, they saw my AU hat and informed the plane that KSU would win.

So the fuckers at the hyatt had given my room away. "Were so sorry but there was no note in your file"  nevermind that the instructions from expedia had guaranteed a late checkin.  I guess the lazy hotel worker lied to me.  They finally found me a place in their 5th attempt to call around.  Well i at least got a free night in the jacuzzi suite.

Whats worse than Dorothy waking up not in kansas anymore? Not just waking up IN Kansas, but. Every. Single. Day.

Dddddddddont take this aaaaaaaaasswhipping personally.
