I would assume that the local school districts of leavenworth get federal money for their schools to account for the lack of property tax lost due to the presence of a post.  I know for a fact Knob Noster Missouri gets in xs of a milliion dollars due to Whiteman AFB.  This is also counted as defense spending in Washington.

Was at u 18 fiba championships last night. Ksu recruit Dillon brooks played for team canada against us team. Although Canada got spanked, at times brooks was best player on the floor.  USTeam was filled with blue bloods, including 3 duke commits and the turner kid heading to Texas, brooks looked every bit the 4/5 star in comparison.  IMO he has slipped through the cracks, but may not much longer. 
He would be a great get but may be on more teams radars now.  He finished as the leading scorer in the tourney
