Kansas State Football / Coaching approach in our new NIL world.....
« on: December 02, 2024, 01:11:30 PM »
Ive been thinking about this and was curious what others thought.  Preface, this is a gross generalization & kind of an incoherent rant about the NIL:

Referencing the big money NIL deal players:  How the heck does a coach motivate a player to do better / work harder if they are making millions of dollars and there really is no threat of them loosing their starting spot?  Donors want to see their money utilized on the field and not riding the bench.....  So how do you get what you need out of these guys if there is the threat of them hitting the transfer portal and getting millions at a different school...?  Who was the CB that checked out during the ISU game last year and then moved on to Oregon?  Speaking of Oregon, Cure was just at Oregon again on another visit.........  Dollars and cents are motivating these guys, not the threat of playing time.
I, like some others, thought that Roberson should come in a take over for Avery.  I have zero inside info on the inner thoughts in Averys head, but how do you keep a guy like that from hitting the transfer portal if he just needs "more work"...?
I dont like feeling like my team is being held hostage by big money NIL guys and their assumed starting position that comes with it.

MR, very nicely put.
If you were single, a woman and looked exactly like Alyssa Milano, I'd marry you and buy you Cat season tickets on the 35 yard line (lower bowl).

Admittedly I have not watched CU play but I was surprised at how little touches Dylan Edwards has.  I know he’s a freshman but still a little surprised.

Is there any additional encouraging recruiting information coming soon?  Any chance Dylan E flips back to us or if Randle pulls the trigger with KSU?  Why the heck is Josh Manning still committed to MU.....

Much of the work is done. Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

I would certainly hope, that should a book deal offer cross your desk, you would dedicate a chapter to goEMAW?  OR at least a shout out should you make Oprahs book club.

Im guessing we might see an increase of guys on defense taking "injury dives" in order to slow down the clock?

Sorry BP.  Unfortunately I do not.
My only Ron story:
I was walking around the P&L during the Big 12 basketball tourney with a buddy of mine.  We walked past Ron on 14 St.  He was trailed by his wife and kids.  My buddy turned around and said:  "Hey Coach.  Lets start beating KU huh?".  Ron didnt respond.  I assume Ron was deep in thought and couldnt be bothered with such interactions.  I sometimes wonder if he had acknowledged my buddies concern we might have not lost to KU the following year.  I blame myself for not saying anything.

DGale, you should release one new text or email every week or something.  I mean CBSsports does stuff like that and ppl love it.  This could be fantastic.  Just think about it.  Every Wednesday(or whatever) you would get to wake up and think "I get to embarrass him again today".  I bet that would feel pretty great, huh?

Been lurking for a long time and had to chime in on this as it has now consumed my early morning/afternoon workday websurfing.  DGale, just claim that your interwebs was hacked?  Celebs do it all the time and seem to get a pass. No harm, no foul.  Right?  :dunno:
