Kansas State Basketball is hard / Re: Hello

OK, well, I'm sure I'll forget some good questions but in no particular order...

* nobody ever put the smelly thing together until I got my first e-mail address. I blame Al Gore.

* went to KU, and please don't hold that against me. Here's some more material you can make fun of me for: poor penmanship, questionable personal style and an uncanny ability to lose cell phones.

* anybody who disputes the awesomeness of Peanut wings should be treated with skepticism. I dig the laid-back sports bar type of place (Quaff is a good place with an old-school pop-a-shot machine). Live around the corner from the Phoenix, so that's a good spot, too.

* haven't been arrested in weeks.

* J-Mart, I owe you a beer or three.

* turkey, I guess.

* and, well, I'll bite...what's SLTH?

OK, I'm off to spring training tomorrow but will be back in the neighborhood the week after next. I'll get on here and other boards from time to time, but if there's anything you want me to see for sure send it to my sterile e-mail: [email protected] or look me up at twitter.com/mellinger

Thanks again. I'm really looking forward to this.

Kansas State Basketball is hard / Hello
« on: February 19, 2010, 01:13:20 PM »
Hey guys, Sam Mellinger here from the KC Star newspaper. Been covering baseball, but now moving to sports columnist, where I'll hopefully be doing more K-State stuff (along with the other schools). Pete was nice enough to invite me over here to introduce myself.

I really hope we can all have an open communication, that we can always be fair and understand where the other side is coming from. Communication with people nice and interested enough to read my stories has always been important to me.

I'm at [email protected] or twitter.com/mellinger.

I have a KSU column or two in mind, but am always open to suggestions, tips, comments and questions. Looking forward to getting started.

Thanks for reading this.
-- Sam
