It will help that Baylor needs to win to get into the tourney.  KU has shown they can be pretty mortal this year.  Every chance Baylor loses, but they've got a good shot.

No, it's true.  Not he nor anyone on the team cares that we lost.  They obviously can't do it publicly, but I know for a fact they were breaking out the champagne for getting 2nd.

As you know, some things you never get used to.  Like Belmont.  Or any other early round disappointment.

To me, this hurts just as much as '98. Please spare me the basketball isn't as important bs, I really don't care. I can't get enough anger to be mad about our horrible mistakes down the stretch, or Marcus Smart being college basketball's Ric Flair. I just feel hurt. What sucks is there is a little glimmer of hope in my heart for Baylor or the P66 and that's going to be violently stomped out too. I'm so miserable nearly an hour later my stomach hurts

I think it's called a sense of perspective.  I mean, our football season was a complete waste of time, since we were so close to a national championship, right?

Hey guys, KU is just too good.  It's tough to win the conference.  We were picked 5th.  Let's just be happy with winning nothing every year.  At least this isn't Wooly.  That's important.  That's the bar.

The important thing is making progress.  Putting together successful seasons.  We're a top 15 program now.  Let's aim to have a top 15 team every year.

No, I'm not.  There's your answer.  If you ask what a meaningful, achievable goal is, it's long term progress of a program.  It's where we're at, and I'm happy with our progress as a program.

 

I'm just not willing to slit my wrists at losing to a good team, even though we didn't play our best.  Funny thing is we could end the night exactly the same place as if we'd have steamrolled OSU--joint Big 12 champs.

Which is exactly why I said this was a bigger kick in the junk than another .500 mediocre season.  Being disappointed (which I wholeheartedly am) doesn't change the fact that I didn't think we'd be top 2 this season.

This was always going to be a hard game.  On the whole, we played ok.  Too many mistakes, didn't hit enough shots.  We still have the Big 12 tourney to look forward to, as well as a NCAA run to engineer.  I think a whole lot of teams (like Florida, Gonzaga, Michigan...) would not want to draw us.

Assuming KU goes on and wins today, this is a bigger kick in the junk than a .500 season and barely making the tournament.

Hope being dashed is a powerful thing.  Am I happier with this season than a .500 first round exit?  Yes.  Does this hurt more than yet another mediocre season?  You'd better believe it.
