The real question: is ku - culturally speaking - ready for a black head basketball coach? I’m not sure the fans are quite ready for that. But when that day comes…#jacquesandawe

The dad of a guy I worked with was Wilt Chamberlain's roommate at KU.  He said that despite all that Chamberlain did for KU basketball, he was treated poorly in Lawrence because he was black.  He described situations where townies would spit at him, call him the n word, etc.  I don't know Lawrence has ever been as progressive as some of the alumni wish to pretend.

What I don’t particularly like, is that whenever this The Streak comes to an end, good chance its going to happen in what appears to be a soccer stade. History Awaits!

Damn, that sucks.

not going to try and link an instagram reel but there is a pretty great clip on the hurdles account of jon gruden saying that our guy Will turned him onto the artist YoungBoy, and then it just turns into a pretty great will howard combo OSU/KSU highlight reel

If someone would have asked me, how many wide receivers get drafted and signed as a free agent on any given year, I wouldn't have guessed anywhere close to 142 dudes. That seems like a ton of guys.

Yeah, that's nearly 5 WR per team. That's a lot.

Teams need a lot of bodies for camp and they all keep a WR or two on their practice squad.

I was thinking in terms of number of shattered dreams.

I guess AJ Storr took Jayhawk fans racist comments seriously, On3 Sports is reporting he's entered the transfer portal.

6
Sports Illustrated is talking about Jerome Tang moving on to Iowa.

7
We beat Baylor in a close game. Drew visits locker room, we win the next six to make the Elite 8.
:ksu:

Even great coaches are wrestling with the NIL and transfer portal dynamics.  Tang has demonstrated some degree of mastery of this dynamic, now he has to figure out how to make the players he recruits play as a team.  He did a good job his first year, and has struggled since.  It comes down to how much faith we have in Tang to make his recruiting victories translate into wins on the court.

Stupidity is far more dangerous than evil.

10
KU's fall hurts us as well.  Many less-informed fans likely think the Cats just got blown out by the Mormons.

There's got to be a book of coaching inspirational quotes somewhere.  Left to his own devices, "it's all in the wrist" is about as profound a statement Massa Seff could come up with on his own.

Their metrics TERRIFY me

More ball movement than Ron Jeremy.

I thought Self was going to twist off after the question about losing to Moo and K-State in the same season, and I think he wanted to, but he recovered nicely and gave a legit answer.

15
That's as good as he's looked all season. Maybe dude went to New Orleans to just get some sleep in the hotel room, alone.

I've seen plenty of meth heads that look healthier than that.

Maybe he can conjure up some blocking schemes that compel Dallas to make better use of Deuce.  I watched a game where his only carry was up the middle, it convinced me that Mick McCarthey is a dope.

From Cyclone Fanatics:

"We lost by 19 and were favored by 14.5 against the worst team in big 12. AT HOME. It does not get worse than this. Steve prohm never had a loss this bad. **** I doubt McDermott did either."

"I’m wondering how many games we have lost by double digits with a power rating differential in the high 90s… doubt if there are many of those. This was a bad game no matter how you look at it. It looked bad when we were 5-5 from 3 and losing…"

"But anyone is an idiot if they don't think this was a historical loss, probably the worst in Hilton ever.. Q3 home loss, as a 16 point favorite, to a sub .500 team, and lose by 20 points...Embarrassing isn't strong enough of a description"
Well I base my identity and self worth on how my alma mater performs in college athletics so this is a pretty bad night for me. I got the car running in the garage tho, just gotta hook up the hose."

Self is shitting himself thinking about the unholy beat down coming his way in Manhattan.

Pivotal moment for Massa Seff - can he get his team to beat an Iowa State team looking to come off an ugly loss to our Cats?  Is his group of All-Americans pissed enough at the collapse in Waco to come out swinging?  This looks like it will be a game for the ages.

I am pretty sure I loathe Iowa State's coach more than only other B12 college basketball coach in my lifetime.

Forgot how ragey and sweaty he is.

And blue bloods will go back under the table.

how would this work?

A guy I worked with told he his dad was roommates with Wilt Chamberlain back in the day.  One day, an new Oldsmobile convertible showed up in front of their dorm, and a guy handed Wilt the keys.  This may be one avenue to consider - AJ sure seems to like that lavender Corvette.

Dellinger has more details:

-13 football games per year from streaming on ESPN+ to linear on TBS\TNT
-15 basketball games to TBS\TNT

Starts next season and as a sub-license doubt we see more $ just better exposure.

https://sports.yahoo.com/big-12-football-on-tnt-new-deal-will-feature-13-football-games-on-wbd-channels-after-settlement-135956401.html

If ESPN is having to sublicense, does that mean it has more game inventory than it can air on its linear and streaming platforms?  Asking for a friend that wondered why Big 12 got partially relegated to sublicensing.

It's not a highlight reel, but I love this video. Probably already posted in this thread. So good. 🥲

If his teammates think that highly of Will, he must be a stand-up guy.

Kiper's latest position rankings has Howard at No. 6 QB (above Ewers), but no other Cats in the top 10 at any position (presumably Giddens, Parrish and maybe Kilty just outside the top 10)

Howard is benefitting from recent good play (and therefore getting hype), but no way will he go higher than Ewers.

Will is a slow Alex smith.

Ben Roethlisberger with higher ethics and lower velocity.

Bill Self and I use the same gas station!

It's only awkward if you also "use" the same realtor

They have creams that will treat that.
