nobody does 2nd place like oscar.  dude chirps about his NCOY award for finishing second all.the.time.  even wears a 2nd place NCAA ring. i saw it when he was picking his nose up 9 today.

oscar goes to fu**ing church for christ's sake.

Price as Director of Basketball Operations. It's a good deal for us, keep him the eff away from recruiting.

That comeback win down 10 with 4 minutes to go vs. BAM for his only ncaa tournament win in 22 years seems just like yesterday.

I'm just wondering if oscar will be like Frank and praise the hell out of Self or will he be more Norm Stewarty.

with Weber's revised timeline, one does have to wonder if he was on board here until Brown called.

"Howard has reached an agreement to become an assistant on Larry Brown’s staff at Southern Methodist University, Howard said today. Howard spoke with Brown earlier today when the deal was finalized.

An ace recruiter, Howard is familiar with the state of Texas, having worked in an administrative capacity on Billy Gillispie’s staff at Texas A&M.
----
Before the SMU job surfaced, the 31-year-old Howard was close to joining Weber’s staff at Kansas State. He also had spoken with Memphis and DePaul about jobs that are open or could become open. "

Anyone have a list of potential new guys???

This Guy is on an official visit this weekend.  I would be surprised if he leaves Manhattan without pulling the trigger.  There has also been speculation that this guy may transfer and follow oscar - this seems less likely.

damnit K-State, leave the train in the station till Jerrance is ready to board!!!!

exactly. IT'S NOT LIKE THIS TRAIN IS GOING ANYWHERE INTERESTING ANY TIME SOON. WHAT'S YOUR HURRY, TRAIN.

Howard has 2 years left on his contract at Illinois for $200k, $210k - he wants most of the $$ plus pride and his future relationship with Illinois is on the line.  It seems oscar wants his staff assembled by the end of the week and the idea is to nudge Howard to resolve the situation quickly.  Howard talks to Weber a few times each day.  Howard knows what Weber & KSU has to offer, he either wants to be on board or he doesn't.  It appears that any further delay by Howard is negative for KSU and an indication that he is looking for a "better opportunity."   A bird in the hand blah blah.

Is that from a beat writer?  Beat writers are the laziest people on the face of the earth.  guy probably hasn't even fired off a text asking anyone about Jerrance.

The NG beat writer got his info from Howard, they are chummy and talk daily.  Also it appears that Florida may hire Rashon Bruno TwitLink and Memphis doesn't appear to be kicking Jimmy Williams to the curb.  Looks like KSU may be Howard's only option right now.  Howard still has the obstacle of his Illinois contract & he wants most of the $$.  The KSU train is leaving the station and Howard has to get on by the end of this week.

Q:  Do you think it will hurt the U of I to not have retained Jerrance for recruiting?

A:  Dave- We'll see. What I see is a coach building an impressive staff. Dustin Ford and Jamall Walker are excellent, particularly in player development. If you watched last season, that's what this team needs (dribbling, passing, shooting). Recruiting-wise, Walker will handle Chicago and St. Louis; Ford largely will be in Indiana and Ohio; John Groce will be everywhere. And there will be some overlap. This staff wants to operate in a six-hour "breadbasket" of recruiting - while reaching outside of that ratio for the occasional prep school recruitment or otherwise. And six hours is a loose term. Hopefully you get what they mean by that. As for your question, I think it would hurt the U of I more (from a PR/alumni standpoint) if it doesn't handle Jerrance Howard's contract situation well. He played at Illinois, he's an alum (his wife is, too) and he was the lead recruiter on (roughly) half your roster. So we'll see which direction that goes. He's very good on the recruiting trail. And like I wrote in today's News-Gazette - joining oscar Weber at Kansas State is a distinct possibility for Jerrance. If he were making a move today, it would be to K-State. Klee

UPDATE:  The chat was edited...it now reads

As for your question, I think it would hurt the U of I more (from a PR/favored alumni standpoint) if it doesn't handle Jerrance Howard's contract situation well. He played at Illinois, he's an alum (so is his wife) and he was the lead recruiter on (roughly) half your roster. Want to lose Deron Williams' influence and good favor? Jerk around his best friend and former roommate. So we'll see which direction that goes. Jerrance is very good on the recruiting trail. And like I wrote in today's News-Gazette - joining oscar Weber at Kansas State is a distinct possibility for Jerrance Howard. Unless something changes, I expect his next job will be in Manhattan. May want to read both sides before you blindly follow him.  I bought the "honest and classy" routine for 8 years before I woke up.  Anyone really interested can read a rebuttal to the Manhattan article on Weber here. http://alioneye.com/

no one here minus dean the saluki and a few retards care if oscar is  honest and classy

only 1/4 page ad, not full-page.  add skinflint to the list.
