Essentially Flyertalk / Re: Poison Ivy
« on: July 01, 2025, 01:51:37 PM »
I've never had it before, even after for sure being in poison ivy. I guess it's pretty common to get it for the first time later in life.

First started showing symptoms 8 days ago.
It started on my forearms.
Then it showed up on my legs.
Now a huge rash on my neck.
I think it's coming for my face next.

WTF is happening?! Why poison ivy, why are you doing this to me?

Any magic cures or remedies I should know about? Anti-itch creams including calamine lotion have done next to nothing so far.

if its spreading that much, I would head to urgent care asap and get a shot.

Do it! The shot is steroids!

Your movie what, vato?

Queue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I saw a This Is Spinal Tap gif on social media last week and realized I had never seen it and I've since added it to my movie que.

Here's a gift link to a New York Times piece ranking the 100 best movies since 2000 that I really enjoyed. I added several movies to my movie que that I'm too embarrassed to share. It shared movies I've surprisingly never seen, movies I've forgot about and am reconsidering and several I don't even recall. Another cool feature about it is that they surveyed 500 actors to come up with the list so you can see Mel Brooks favorite movies and so on.

I enjoyed this but it's only in reel form.

HE FLIPPED THE BAT?!?!

Time to give the unrelated next batter brain damage, I'm just old school like that.

No, never. Wait until the offender is up again and give him the brain damage. That way it's ethical.

There are a lot less fights in baseball today. Probably why they’re willing to break unwritten rules. The appropriate response is to plunk players more.

I share your crusty old opinion and enjoy seeing those tools get plunked.

The more I consider it the more I think it's mainly in regards to baseball. Act like you've hit the ball before my goodness. I know people will say it's about fun and passion but to me, and old person, it comes across much more lame in baseball.

None of those football celebrations bothered me and I did like the beer chugging ones. One football thing I do think is dumb is the entire defense running to the end zone and posing after every turnover. Also all the turnover props are unoriginal and lame now. It was fine when it was just a couple teams that did it but it was ruined quickly.

Yes, it’s an unwritten rule in baseball not to pimp home runs. It’s something that the youngsters do more and more and the old timers grimace or throw at the opposing team for it.

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: The Distance Running Thread

2 and 3 weeks ago we had that magical temp where it's neither hot nor cold. I prefer not to layer up so that's my favorite temp to run in.

I braved the heat today. I did my usual run front half. I walked a lot of the back half. I thought I was able to power through last summer, but I wasn't in the mood for that today. I ran some mornings before work last summer but not consistently. Definitely planning to revisit that. Hopefully it sticks this time.

Our recruiting class?

We’ve lost the state!  :curse:

Overlord is a pretty good movie if you appreciate it for what it is, a WW2 zombie movie with c-list actors. It helped that I recognized a couple of the actors from shows that I’ve liked. Production value was surprisingly decent.

This article was entertaining, interesting and scary.

In one extreme scenario, the company even found many of the models were willing to cut off the oxygen supply of a worker in a server room if that employee was an obstacle and the system were at risk of being shut down.

A bunch of morons used to really simp for Ted like he was the best debater around. Tucker just beat that ass without getting out of second gear.

Not the first time. I remember when Ted had to go on Tucker’s show to apologize and beg for forgiveness for calling Jan 6 a terrorist attack.

.484 is terrible for someone you think is a power hitter. He should never go below .700

Cost them a year of service time calling him up early, too.

1.5 qt of ice cream this past weekend. Usually I stretch it over a week but I put a big dent into it Friday night.

For those tracking at home. Israel’s 2024 attack on Iran also included strikes on targets in Syria and Iraq.

But somehow that’s been lifted from Pedo Pete’s report card, and handed crap sandwich style to Don Trump by derpy #blueanongE

the chicom funded rallies is all the rage in the incel spheres.

They are for sure bussed in from around the country and paid with a $20 target gift card

It's what happens when all of your sources for information are twitter accounts with no names or picture in their avatar.

You have to be fully entrenched in the MAGA propaganda to believe these protests aren't organic
