K-State is projecting all of the NE/Vanier 2.0 to come in at $78 million.  Right now N.E. corner is in FY 2016.

Are you saying all of the current development of vanier 2.0 plus the ne corner is that price tag or just the ne corner?

Is it just me, or does the darker stained wood look much better this year?  Is it the new lighting, or did they re-finish the floor when they put on the new Big 12 logos?

I believe they refinished the floor in the offseason.

The water falls were something I hadn't seen before.  I wonder if they fill the lazy river.  This is looking like a pretty sweet project.

KSUPKS is already bragging about the living roof labs.

I just googled some pictures and it looks like there are still a fair amount of seats that they left.  Just one side seems to have around 1000+ seats by my guestimation.  I haven't found any pictures of the other side so I don't know if they kept seats over there as well.  I can't imagine we would need more seating than that.

I love how the KU donors have to consistently use their money to buy out coaches.  They have spent around $20 Million over the last several years just to get rid of people.  That would have been a decent start towards revamping their terrible stadium.  If they don't hit at least a triple with this hire, they are in big time trouble.

I hope these renderings are a joke.  I would tell populous to gtfoomf if they showed these to me.  Not trolling.

The interior doesn't look as modern as the WSC interior.  I hope the final interior design looks better than that.

I have heard from some donors who had seen these for weeks now that they really like the design.

Is this the design they have seen recently and like or this is an old version they had seen and they like the newer version better?

I love these, but now I'm getting really greedy.  Any renderings of the interior?

I'm pretty sure the east side aesthetic improvements have to do with the club level. I believe Currie said something in his letter about the club seating, and I'm pretty sure that he meant a remodel, and not a complete overhaul of the facade on the East side.

Phase V - East Stadium Upgrades

Concourse Additions and Aesthetic Improvements
An expansion and update of grass roots fan amenities to the east side will come in conjunction with additional limestone, entrance gates, fencing and landscaping to bring the east stadium up to the standard in service and appearance established throughout the rest of LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Kid Zone / Family Playground
The creation of a K-State themed Kid Zone will enhance the family friendliness of the stadium giving parents a location to let their young children relax and play before, during and after the game.

East Premium Seating Updates
A facelift to the east side Briggs Auto Club level and private suites will reward these loyal fans with new seating, aesthetic improvements and service components.

The thing that stood out to me that I don't remember reading in the past, was their plans for phase V.

Quote
Phase V: East Stadium Upgrades

--- Concourse Additions & Upgrades
--- Aesthetic Improvements
--- East Premium Seating Updates
--- East Stadium Fan Amenities
--- Kid Zone / Family Playground

I always thought it was a pipe dream to put a new facade on the east side, but it looks like Currie agrees with this and we may be moving in that direction.  Was the east side a part of the master plan before the update?

Populous will be the architect for NEZ, The North side of Vanier will be very castle, picture a mini-WSC. 2 Big Columns in the middle and the big arched windows on each side.  The stadium side though...WOW:

It will have 2 corner boards NE/NW, the concourse level will match up with East/West side you can walk around the stadium and seating will basically match the west side just wrapped around, except there are 2 triangles in front of the corner boards that are a grassy terrace, and 2 tunnels...the existing road will become a tunnel, with another in the opposite corner.  I saw pictures today and all I can say is wow...looks like they are planning on turning the grassy area N/E of Vanier into another tailgating zone too as lots of tents were placed in those areas.

Have been sitting on this for a while so as not to upset my source, but my understanding is that this walkway will be a SRO viewing area called "the catwalk"...

 :buh-bye:

Does the new Vanier/NEZ directly and seamlessly connect to the training table?

Arkansas's new facility cost $35 million, and is considered a top 25 complex nationally. Oregon's new facility is estimated at $65-70 million and would be considered one of/if not the best in the country, so something between the 2, but more similar to Arkansas.

P.S. KU's clip art complex was estimated at $31.million.

Also, consider that we have already built the training table, which was included in Oregon's new facility iirc.  That means that the price is actually much closer to Oregon's when comparing apples to apples.

I love how they have "Tradition" on their unis.  I guess never making the NCAA tourney is a tradition.

So...why is Marquette seeded in front of us?  1-4 record vs. 1-25 with a loss to a team ranked over 100 and a 2-5 road record compared to our 4-4 vs. 1-25, no losses to teams over 100 and a 5-2 road record.  Seems like it should be a slam dunk that we would be seeded higher than them.

17
Oh and it's going to cost more than $2 million, the landscaping and the internal stuff hasn't been put out to bid yet.

So, do you have any renderings?  I'm surprised Currie hasn't made any announcements (that I have seen) on this.

all that other crap can be added later.  My OCD is annoyed by a massive structure not centered on the field dammit!

Looks centered to me? Think people are getting throw off by the training center to the north.

the south end is even with the endzone, the north end extends past.

The press box portion is centered on the field.  The training table portion is what extends over.  I'm guessing, once we have gone through all of the phases, that the training table will connect to vanier somehow so it won't be "off center", it will just wrap around.

Gotta luv the Collie Cult.

In that case, I hearby grant K-State the '99 Big 12 Championship.  Afterall, K-State tied for the Big 12 North with Nebraska.

K-State Football:  1999 and 2003 Big 12 Football Champions

Using cult logic we have 4: 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2003.

Wrong, we have five.  1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, and 2003.  Surely we can claim the north and title game championships as two conference championships.

I talked to my friend for about 45 minutes last night, and we talked about the stadium stuff.  Here are some of the highlights I remember:

  • His understanding is that we're considering "fundraising" on $25 million.  $50 million of that is based on the debt servicing.  So, estimates say we're at $8 million now, and the target to break ground is somewhere in the neighborhood of 12.5-15 million.
  • I asked him what he thought of it, and he said, "Have you seen what Tech did?  That's exactly what we're doing.  Except with limestone."
  • He commented that there's going to be a huge amount of limestone (obviously).
  • We talked about the phases in the master plan.  He said that based on what he's heard, at least some of the stuff in phase 4 is "guaranteed" to happen.  So, everything we see in Phase 3, it's gonna happen.  Probably that fun zone thing in Phase 4.  I said based on our previous conversations, I assumed that Vanier was phase 6 because at that point, it would be somewhat old and dated and the donors would want to spruce it up anyway.  He said that was exactly what he heard.
  • Future phases are most likely going to be determined, partially, on how well the suites sell and for how much.

I may have missed a couple of details in there, but this is what I got.  Nothing earth shattering at all.  I was happy to hear that we'll most likely get into at least Phase 4 because the Phase 3 stuff looked good.

Did he mention when he thought they would start work on phase 3 and 4?

Did i mention I saw some actual K-State letterheaded plans for the 5 or so phases (not the ones on pg 53) of this thing at the Baylor game?  Because I did.

The only thing that stuck out to me (beyond the pressbox) was that the endgame was to extend the concourse in front of vanier to connect both sides.  I don't remember much, but it was pretty impressive.

Do you not have a rough ridin' camera phone. bad person
I should've rephrased.  I saw pictures of the plans.  On a phone.  Phone Pictures of phone pictures don't make for very good pictures, 'nut.

Would you say you liked the new renderings better than the old renderings on page 53 or are we getting a crappier version.
