Hey! That's exclusive content!

Just kidding. Come on over - it's pretty calm over there.

And we're going to blow out some coverage of Fatty Fest, too. You have my word.

Also, make one that changes water to miller lite. Maybe some sort of miller lite chowder drink thing? Like those ladies at my office add to their water because they can't drink non-sweet fluids?

That's next up in development.

Do you have any recommendations for whiskey to use these with? This seems like something I would like to try.

My guess is you use it with crap whiskey or home stilled - why would you spend even more money to affect a high-priced, high-quality whiskey?

Like, a terrific use-case would be those souls that take a sailboat across an entire ocean or something and have no other means to procure alcohol.

i would use it on the entry level good stuff to make it something special.

Fair point - but I think this is just bit wonky.  Like, you'd apply it to a cheap whiskey, but at $6/$7 per stick you make a $20 bottle $26, and then you're defeating the value/quality claim a bit.  Also, can I just head to my firewood stand, pick out an oak log, char it, chop it up, and achieve the same results?

Oh, and this:
http://gizmodo.com/we-tried-this-whiskey-enhancing-stick-of-wood-so-you-do-1647799090

Sure, you could try that. Let me know how that works for you.

As for Gizmodo, yep, that happened. They were sent a set of sticks never intended for use - in short, it was a screw-up. Not an excuse, an explanation. We offered to send sticks that, you know, WORK, and they never responded. So you have to own it.

If you're interested in adding a little something to your whiskey, in essence making it your own, then this is for you. We're not re-inventing the wheel or claiming we make crappy whiskey top-shelf.

Hope that helps.

Not really, as that's an awfully convenient excuse.

Also, the first 25 seconds of the promo video imply otherwise (to your statement in bold above).

Also

Quote
“Looking at the history of whiskey and how it’s made, the color and flavor comes from the barrel and barrel-aging,” says Time & Oak founder Tony Peniche. “If I put the Jack Daniel’s back in the barrel, I’d have to wait three years. But what if I put the barrel into the whiskey?”

It's also convenient to backpedal from the "it will give me top-shelf" and resign to "it will make your whisky your own".

Again, there's a market for it, maybe not at those price-points, but there's a market for it.

Backpedal? We're a startup - it's a constant evolution, man.

But we stand by the product. If you're curious, try it out. If not, that's fine as well.

Why did you send them sticks never intended for use?  And why do such sticks even exist?

They were cut larger than usual size so the "capillaries" are easier to see in photographs. They were designed for art, not for use.

whats your favorite combo?

also whats with the gift set on the website that shows a hooch bottle and a glass and some sticks? experimental liquor store package?

I like some local, small-batch stuff, but according to one of the founders, it works well in Crown Royal, Bulleit, Jack Daniel’s and Glenlivet. The gift set was  a tie-in with the stones - we'll have "gentleman's" kits soon featuring a flask.

You don't want to know.

Seriously, it's just not meant to remain in the whiskey for a long time. We'd like to think the sticks improve the whiskey, which would make it more desirable to drink.

Hope you're all well. It's been a while...

I'm affiliated with this company - www.timeandoak.com. The product is legit, but try it yourself. If you decide to order, use the promo code JAYMART at checkout.

I welcome any and all feedback.

Congrats - I've heard a lot of good things about these.  This might be the kick I need to give it a shot

Cool. We've been trying to get the word out as organically as possible, letting the product speak for itself.

Officially, we're claiming you can customize normal whiskey with these sticks. But unofficially, yeah, they'll make your whiskey all sorts of amazing.

Check out episodes 93 and 94 on these skeptics' Web site: http://www.5uselessdegrees.org/.
