Most public mountain rec areas are overcrowded during the winter but are still awesome. In the spring, summer and fall they are not crowded at all and have an even wider variety of activities than in the winter. Plus most mountains have lakes near by which you can do nearly any beach activity on except surfing.

Probably not, but at least they've got the plan in place, and they're in the process of raising money for it. That's more than you guys can say about anything going on within K-State's athletic department right now. Oh, and I know, I know... Ideally, I would live on the beach in northern California and have a lake/mountain house on Lake Tahoe that I could spend my weekends at.
On another note... think lake activities are very underrated which is why I think my scenario is the best. Jetskiing, waterskiing, etc. are all totally awesome/cool/sexy things to do.
