The future?

Who's this "Gillespie" fellow you all are discussing?

Personally, I'd be thrilled to have Billy Clyde Gillispie as head coach at K-State.  Guy gets players.

Have you ever listened to 610? Their Mondays during football season is called 'Red Monday.'

In addition, “Chiefs Mondays” and “Chiefs Red Fridays” will become a regular part of the programming landscape at Sports Radio 810, with those days becoming heavily focused on Chiefs football.

Chiefs' new partnership with 810.

"Becoming"?  810's already pretty heavily focused on Chiefs football on Monday, at least.  Glad to hear it's going to be more so, now.

 :flush:

Not that our football's going to be worth talking about, but I at least enjoy hearing college football talk.  Hopefully 810 can find some way to sneak some in on 1510 or something, maybe on Tuesdays?

810's hitched its wagon to an unproven Chiefs' administration that proved squat last year.  Didn't they do the same with the Royals under Baird?  Real talent for picking winners over there.  Though, to be fair to 810, Kansas City is full of mouth-breathers who enjoy things like always talking about a football team that hasn't won a playoff game for decades or approving stadium upgrades instead of building a new downtown baseball stadium.

Look, I'm (unfortunately) a Chiefs fan, but I get sick of hearing Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs 12 months a year.  Especially when they're  :bs: .

with  everyday that goes by, I hate all things mu even more.  like, worse than texas.

you can't be serious. more than texas?

yes.  I'm for reals.  hate those f*ckers.  I mean, if ku's or ut's beat writer or fans wants to run sh*t then fine, but who the f*ck is MU?  i mean, what the f*ck has MU ever done?  They have zero excuse for their historical level of mediocrity, yet their fan base as a whole just wants to run sh*t like they've actually done something.  I can see why DeArmond has/had depression issues, I'd want to kill myself too if I look in the mirror every day and see that lump of sh*t on my neck and on top of that be a MU fan.

This.  There are plenty of MU fans in the KC area that can sour you on that school pretty quickly.

Bay leafs can be put in any kind of soup/stew type dish.  think it just adds complexity to the taste.

will try that out slimz.

What cire said.  Just like any other herb.  Adds subtle flavor.

Have not used peppered bacon, RD.  I'll have to try that.  I do make sure it's thick cut.

Here's one I've been working on.  It placed at a little private chili competition recently, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Fry 4 strips of bacon.  Keep the grease in the pan.

Dice:

1 green bell pepper.
1 poblano pepper.
2 serrano peppers.
.75 white onion
1 clove garlic.

Saute' those in the bacon grease briefly, then add 1.5 lbs ground beef and get it good and brown.

Meanwhile, combine in your stock pot:

4 cans kidney bean
1 can diced tomato
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1 bay leaf
3 teaspoons light brown sugar
3.5 tablespoons chili chowder
5 shakes Tabasco
5 dashes Worcestershire
Crumbled bacon that you fried in step 1.
Pinches of thyme, oregano, and cumin.
~ 4 oz. of a brown ale or stout (ie, Guinness), and ~1 oz. whiskey.

Add ground beef once it's browned and let it all simmer at least 2 hours.

One of my favorite things in life is to go to those high-end brunch buffets where you can get stuff like Prime Rib with horseradish on the same plate as eggs, bacon, and biscuits & gravy, etc.

Brunch is how I know that there is a form of "God" out there...

This.   :lick:

I know someone who works at the CA's here in JoCo.  Haven't been in yet, though.

You guys ever seen "Manswers" on Spike?  I happened by one night when a "Best of" episode was on, and they were discussing how to get a "special" massage.  Evidently, there are code words and stuff you have to use, certain ways to flash your money, etc.   :dunno:

How many ways are there to "flash" a credit card? Upside down? Angled? Flex it a few times before handing it over?

They were using cash.   :dunno:

figured it was roasterie.  next time you're in KC you should tour their facility, it's for elites only though so be warned.

Got a Roasterie poster on my wall.  But don't drink much coffee.

Still do the airplane line every time when I order coffee (sometimes change it to "Like my women" but sometimes leave it "Like my men" for extra hilarity).  McD's drivethrough, Starbucks, everywhere.  Mrs. dave fails to see the humor :dunno:

That line never gets old.  So many great variations:  strong, weak, full of cream, bitter, etc., etc., etc.

If (when) I decide to get an ebook reader, this would be my first choice.
not really meant for that if you plan on using it full time as an ereader.  doesn't use e-ink display.  i think it would work fine but i'm not reading novels on my monitor so i don't know for sure.

Yeah,  I've tried a Kindle and didn't like it too much.  I think I'll prefer real books as long as we can get them.  So that's why this is attractive for me.  I can use it for ebooks, but it also has a bunch of other functionality.  Using it to surf the web while sitting on the couch or out and about looks like it would be great.

Most places dont have it on the table but have some if you ask.

If forgot where it was(i want to say it was an airport) i picked up about 10 of these

Not nearly as good as the bottled kind, they had a weird watered down aluminm taste to them(prob all in my imagination).

Probably water it down to keep it from eating the packaging, and it still does.

i once ate 50 wings @ Tula's on a bet, friend lost and had to buy my wings and the accompanying beers.

edit* i realize this wasn't a huge feat and it certainly wasn't an epi of Man vs Food, but still, I ate fifty wings and got free beer.

I ate 20 wings doused in their hottest sauce (suicide?  nuclear?  can't remember what it was called) on a bet one Monday night.  Guy said that they had to scrape the bottom of the barrel for the sauce, so there were more spices and it was even hotter than normal.  Immediately after, I rubbed my eyes before washing my hands.  I spent the next 10 minutes downstairs in the bathroom with my head under the sink, running water over my eyes.

cas,

do you want to get good grades? Do you want to become something, and go back to scott city and basically take a sh*t on everyone?

just curios. why are you going to college.

my advice to you, become a doctor. do some lame pre-med major, get great grades, join organizations (like kk said) and use that incredible face of yours to slip into medical school.

think about it.

i was almost thinking law.

Don't choose to do law until you know it's what you want to do 100%.  Don't choose it unless you feel like life just won't be worth living unless you do law.  Most of all, don't choose it if money is your number 1 reason for choosing it.  Anyway, you don't really have to worry about any of that your first couple of years in college because you can major in anything and go to law school.

Anyone see the banner hanging at "The Loft" saying 10 wings for $1? Is that legit?

Also, if you find the back cover to a droid whilst at tubbys PM me please.  :embarrassed:

as recently as 05 Joe's/tubby's and Porters had 10 cent wings 3 days a week between the two.

do they still do that?

I haven't seen them promoting it if true.  But I just recently turned "of age" so I haven't spent a large amount of time in any of the establishments yet.

Worked at Tubs while in school. They used to have 30 cent wings on tuesday and thursdays.

FYI if your looking for a job in college there is no better place to work than a bar. Good pay, free booze, and tons of beautiful looking people. Its like alantis but real

30 cent wings?  Pshhh.

Used to go to Tula's for MNF.  10 cent wings and insanely cheap pitchers of beer (real pitchers, not those fake little ones).  Something like $3.00, IIRC.

Kansas State Football / Why even have a football board?

 :flush:

On the bright side, this should be the first ever K-State message board that has more posts on the basketball board than the football board throughout its existence.

For everyone trying to retain a bit of optimism about K-State's future, how 'bout this scenario?  Our defense sucks under Cosh this fall, enabling us to bring in Venzy as DC and HCIW next year?  I hear he may still have K-State as his #1 scenario as a HC...I guess we may figure out whether the unmentionable sin was committed against the old administration or against a donor.   :dunno:

I would be more than willing to do the research if Bigshotattorneycat gave me a summer internship.

Memories of fantastic networking relationship I had with slimz when he started law school as I was leaving, solely based on me seeing somebody I could pass the torch to on wearing emaw all the time on ku campus.

Truly fantastic.  Loads of outlines, even got the in on a summer job following 1L.

And I, in turn, have passed them along to fellow EMAW coming up behind me.  Thus the circle of EMAW continues...
