O'malleys: Loved everything about it. When it started to smell too much like vomit they'd just hose that rough rider out and it would be good as new.

Maes:  I've never understood why people don't like it.  It always made me happy though 'cause 99% of the people that don't like Maes are the type of people I would never wanna hang out with anyways.

Pats: Excellent in the afternoons, esp summer afternoons. They were the only place that had Stella on tap and their afternoon specials were always great.  Dg then Pats was basically an everyday occurrence one summer.

Jamar's improvement is all about him not taking himself out of games mentally after making a few mistakes or not getting a few foul calls. The kid was toast last year if that happened. Now he can go 0-4 from the line to start a road game and still end up getting 16 and 11 for the night all while being touted as 6th man of the year.

Mental diff is huge from last year.

Great point.  For a large portion of the game Jamar was not playing great at all.  And his plus/minus and RR numbers from the game were pretty poor.  But he really finished strong to help seal the game and end up with really good numbers.

One of the differences in particular was forcing some shots and not trying to back people down like he did vs OU.  Jamar is at his most frustrating when he forces runners/jumpers from 10 feet or so, and he did that several times at Tech.  He is at his best when he catches near the basket and finishes, backs someone down to within 5 feet, gets tips off of ORB, or shoots an open jump shot.

Adding on to this, is anyone else frustrated how he and a few other players miss dead layups because they are expecting to get mauled by the defensive player?
no.  our guys (minus pullen and clemsies) take it to the rack pretty fracking strong.

Do you even watch the games?  Jake doesn't take it to the rack strong?  CK is soft?  Really??
yes i do.  apparently you're just a dumbass. but that's ok.

He takes it strong, but when you're 6' 180 compared to 6-8, 6-9 and 220-230 lbs. it doesn't always look like it. I don't know how many guys that small that can just obsorb that kind of contact and finish. Even fat @$$ sherron falls down 8 times a game taking it to the land and hes like 280.

collins initiates contact, pullen avoids it.

Pullen is built like a guard. Collins is built like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.

You're also wrong about Pullen avoiding contact.
ya i probably am, he doesn't necessarily avoid contact, you're right.  there's just not much he can do about it when there is contact, other than to fall on the floor and hope for a whistle.

collins is built like a beast, obviously I'd take a player his size that can manage to also have his skillset any day of the week.  the marshmellow man stuff is just "i hate ku" crap.

Pullz doesn't go to the basket hoping to get bailed out by a foul call.  He wants to make the shot.  He avoids contact to get a better shot but not just to avoid contact.  Completely acceptable, imo.

If it means we can get rid of women's basketball...yes.

I used to work w/ a girl that played in a full contact women's league.  I was never even aware they actually existed, thought they were just an urban myth, ukno?  Who knew?  :dunno:

Just to be safe you better bump it up to 8-9 liters a day.

k, i always thought it was from over using your kidneys to filter too much hard water which would cause crystals/stones to develop.  this is good news.

Nope.

Also, I haven't seen an "scientific studies" to support this, per say, but I would say that getting kidney stones directly correlates to whether or not a person is ugly.  Are you ugly?  If so, 3 liters a day isn't gonna cut it.

Kansas State Basketball is hard / Re: HBBIQ Topic Re: Dom
« on: February 23, 2010, 01:39:46 PM »
There is no "good" form or "bad" form. Consistency is all that matters.  If you consistently make shots using "bad" form then is it really "bad" form, or just unique.  Inconsistent form is what leads to bad shooting.

This is like saying there's no bad golf swing.

I agree w/ _33, but only with proven shooters.  Proven meaning perimeter shooters that can consistently hit shots regardless of who's guarding them.  Reggie Miller's shot was horrendous, yet he was a prolific shooter.

If you bring a player in to your program under the assumption that he is going to be a shooter then for the most part you let him shoot with his own form that he is comfortable with (i.e. Denis).  The only time you mess with a perimeter shooter's approach is if they have a low, Fred Brown, release point.  There is a huge transition from hs, where that might work, and college, where your shot selection greatly decreases.  Dom, on the other hand, is a perfect example of a situation where spending time on proper mechanics is worth it.  His shot is timid and lacks confidence, but these are problems that can be fixed.  He needs to stop second guessing his shot and just let it fly, that insecure hesitation kills him.  He fades/leans too much on his jumpers, even if he's open, whether it be forwards or backwards,  and doesn't follow through.  He needs to learn to find a focal point, like the back of the rim, and watch the shot all the way through every singe time.
