fly

Get to fly.  You can live anywhere in the world, and live in wonderful conditions due to human provided HVAC.  Also, unlimited eavesdropping potential.

And you live for what...... 2 weeks?

Seriously, you choose a fly because it can fly?  Ever heard of a dragon?

What and live in a cold cave, or a mega-hot volcano?  GMAFB

Plus, a fly can land upside down.  UPSIDE DOWN!!

Dude, this is a fracking terrible idea.  You need to accept this and move on.

Yep.  This reminds me of the Garth Brooks song, "Unanswered Prayers."  Sure, you think you want to be a fly, but you should be thankful you aren't, bro.

Just ask Jeff Goldblum how it worked out for him...

The first one sucked.  The latest one is much better but still gets boring pretty quickly.  What's the point of earning tons of money if you run out of upgrades 3/4 of the way through the game?
First one was cool for all of an hour or so, then when you realized you were going to be doing the exact same thing over and over again, it became annoying and not that fun.  The story really wasn't much to write home about either.

I'll play the second one, eventually.

You basically just summed up the second one too, except it's fun for all of 3-5 hours.

Wonder how long it takes before a thread shows up on the other site?

It's been edited back several times.  I linked to my edit, not the actual current entry.

Oh.  That's awesome.

Good website for general construction/renovation costs

Decide whether to do it yourself or hire a contractor

Not free, but Fine Homebuilding have great articles that are geared towards construction professionals for this type of thing

Also, quick story on not pulling permits.  A while ago, there was a realtor in a suburb NW of Denver that had completely renovated his home without pulling permits.  And then he put it on the market.  Someone at the City put 2 and 2 together, went to see the home, noticed that everything was new on an older home, went back to the City offices, couldn't find any permits for the work.  So the city made him tear out everything, redo and go through permiting and inspections.  Cost him a lot of time and money.

Had a similar thing happen at a place I lived in Manhattan.  The previous owner set the basement up to finish it but then never got around to it. We had just purchased a projector and decided to finish the rest of the basement and turn it into a mancave (we had a pool table and one of those sweet arcade style "hot shot" basketball machines).  We got it done and it was amazing.  I mean amazing amazing.  :fatty:      .... Buuuut at the end of the semester the city came to inspect the house and basically forced them to rebuild the entire basement.

our couch got pissed on so many times it wasn't even funny, but different people too. Our house was always the place to crash after a night at Aggieville. One time, a roommate got woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of pissing hitting carpet full stream. fml

Based on this, and your previous bed bug post, your apartment sounds disgusting.  Jmo.

I had a run-in with them 3 years ago at my old apartment. It wasn't necessarily the grossest apartment you ever saw, but 4 people living in a 3 bedroom didn't help. A couple roommates complained about having red itchy bumps in the morning. I gradually noticed tiny red spots(im guessing blood) on my sheets. Finally my roommate woke up in the middle of the night to one biting him. Went in to total freak out alert. Tore up all the beds, found them lining the mattresses. Ended up having to get the place fumigated every other week or something like that. Gradually they died out. Worst months of my life. Luckily they didn't transfer anywhere else.

That's pretty disgusting.

This always make me extremely nervous.  The fact that Dateline basically does a show about dirty hotels every couple weeks doesn't help either.

Obviously Frank got his style elsewhere imho.

What does Frank have to do with Florida State?

Absolutely nothing.  Plus, the uni's aren't that bad.

They're getting rocked.

Slightly ot, but not worthy of its own thread, UNLV is really laying into BYU.  Scored 54 points in the 1st half and are up 20+.

I should tell you, I suck at Guitar Hero, is this a problem?

Guitar Hero should be put on hold while you're trying to learn the real deal.  By "on hold" I mean you should never play it again.

Limestone has had a Fender strat (blue) and a Marshall amp for 4 years now and never learned.  That all changes this spring.  I'm going to learn.  and then rock out.

Question though, my guitar has spent some time leaning against the wall, did I ruin it?

You're probably ok.  You can hold it parallel to the ground and make sure that the neck is still straight, but I'm sure it's fine. Extreme cold and/or heat are worse for it.

Sweet.  What is the best kind of tuner to get this bad boy up and running?

You can get an alright tuner for less than 30 bucks.  I have a nice one and a cheaper one and there really isn't too terribly big of a difference b/w the two.

You don't need to go and drop 5-600 bucks on a guitar but you don't wanna go down and pick one up at Costco either.  for 250-300 bucks you should be able to find a quality used guitar at a local music shop.  The smaller shops, as opposed to places like Guitar Center, will be able to get you the most for your money.  They will have more than likely inspected the guitars and wont sell you one with a bowed neck or other hard to see deformities that a bigger place wont care to inform you about.
Also, yes songs like "Wonderwall" are lol'able because that's what everyone plays at parties, BUT if that's what you want to play then you play the rough ridin' crap out of it!

moxy or moxie :dunno:

ex.  Tim Tebow doesn't have a great arm, but he has great leadership and that moxy you need from a quarterback.

Hate that word.

This.  Also, "gumption".

"plug."  I have no idea why.  My college algebra teacher would always say "plug it in" in reference to some shitty formula.  Prolly like 15 times a class.

I guess this wouldn't be a terrible idea but it still seems like the NCAA is fracking with a good thing.  Imo, the NCAA tourney is by far the greatest time of the year why take the risk of messing it up?   :dunno:

Its risk/reward, but likely more games = more excitement (at least for some) = more $$$.

I do like the incentive to be one of the best 32 teams and get rewarded with a 1st round bye.  This seems interesting to me.

I'm not disagreeing, but it still makes me a little  :ohno:. Personally, I like the 64 team tourney and don't mind when "deserving" teams get snubbed, even when it was us.  Part of the beauty of cbb is that teams are able to make their own bed.  If you don't wanna be a bubble team that gets mumped over then schedule tougher, get better, and win more games.
