Question:

What can "really screw you over" with 1st DUI?  Did MADD start a death penalty drive or something?

Multiple friends have gotten them over the past 5 years(knock on dumb). Had a friend get one about a year ago, lost his license for a year and when he finally got it back he had to put a breathalizer in his car. They cost about 1,000 on top of all the court/lawyer fees.

My friend who got one 5 years ago when he was 18? Diversion then wiped from his record unless he gets another, lost his license for a month. Definately alot stricter these days.

IMO its now become a pretty solid revenue source for PDs. TBL any input(not judging, just wondering)? Plus its a politically safe topic just like other crimes and education. Every politician can claim they want to crack down on Drunk Drivers to save Timmy Two Shoes. My biggest problem is DUI checkpoints, you can explain how its not illegal search and seizure all you want but I wont believe you.

Didn't realize (saw this on gp)...

The last team that was ranked higher than #7 (as high as #3) was the 62 team that finished #5/6 in the polls, but b/c they finished 2nd in the league did not make the NCAA tournament.

Makes you appreciate all our NCAA tourney selections that much more.....

the fat blonde chick who's name escapes me

i really hate her too.  not her specifically, but her role.  i don't see that it adds anything to a broadcast and a lot of the time the interruptions make you miss stuff or break the atmosphere.

Kenneth "Doc" Sadler passed away last Saturday at the age of 58 after a long battle with recruiting. Doc lived in Jonesboro where he has been an assistant coach at Arkansas State for the past 3 seasons.

Doc was born on June 12th 1960 to Charles Sadler and a two bit street walker. Charles raised Doc by himself saying "My kid will learn to do things the right way. The only way to make sure no corners will be cut is if I raise him myself". Doc earned a degree in Phsyical Education from the University of Arkansas. While at Arkansas Doc served as a team manager for LHC Eddie Sutton. Doc could often be seen the night before game day scouring all the watering holes in Fayetville trying to find out where Eddie and his degenerate son Sean had holed up for the night. When reached for comment about Doc's sudden death Sean Sutton said "This doesnt count as my one phone call does it"

Doc spent 10+ years working his way up through the coaching ranks before getting his big break. Billy Gilepsie hired Doc as an assitant coach/DD on a referral from Eddie Sutton. After Gilepsie left Doc guided the Miners to a NCAA tournament and the First of his many NIT berths before leaving for Nebraska and the Big12 conference.

Doc coached at Nebraska for 12 years reaching 7 NIT's. Doc embraced the "Solid Long Term Hire" strategy and lifted it to new heights with his strategy of recruiting borderline Division 1 prospects and redshirting them. His pinnacle of success came in 2017 when his Huskers won the National Invitational Tournament. When asked why he turned down an opportunity to participate in the more prestigious NCAA tournament Doc said "I'm building a program here! We dont cut corners! Some of these kids have been with me for 6 years, all they know is the NIT. Plus we are bound to play more games in the NIT than the NCAA. Thats how you build a program, by practicing more than everyone else!" In his last fits with dementia Nebraska Chancellor Tom Osbourne inexplicably fired Doc in 2019 saying "I like doc,doc doc doc, (incoherent ramblings), PPOOOOOOOPPPPPYYYYY".

Doc is predeceased by his wife Tonya, second wife Tashanda, and third wife Tonka. He leaves behind 6 children, Effort age 23, Determination age 20, Princess Girl age 16, Grinder age 12, Princess Girl 2 age 10, and his youngest son Redshirt age 3. Any donations can be made to the AAU team of your choice.

I'm going to say we drop 3 of 6 reg season games, win 1 in the Phillips 66, win 1 in the NCAA's.

25 wins, record stands tied

Booooooooo

11583
I think the Big 12 would look for schools that can be competitive in more than just one sport. The Zags have a great basketball team, but the absence of a football team would affect their running for a Big 12 spot imo.

TCU, Boise St, BYU, Notre Dame would be awesome candidates..

Boise St? Their program doesnt even compare to the zags. How many E8's have the bronco's made it too? S16's? The big beast seems to do alright with basetball only schools.

11584
Yea they did.  Place was packed.  Sold out 23,500.

Always wondered how you can "sell out" a free, non-ticketed event.  Unless they charged or did giveaway some sort of tickets.

I thought I saw on sports center that the number was 22K and change.  Either way, if the previous record was shattered by us with 8k, needless to say the UK record will last for quite a while.

Syracuse might break it in a couple weeks vs nova, they have enough room in the carrier dome

Good point.  ESPN radio said yesterday that 'cuse had 33k+ watching them lose this weekend.  They said it was the most fans to watch a D1 BB game this season.

TX and UNC beg to differ....

Dont really take him seriously, same with Rush and O'Reilly. They're entertainers, thats why there on TV, nothing more.

Big fan of Ireland though. Got plastered with an Irish guy on his honeymoon a couple years ago on a cruise ship. We started talking college basketball and he couldnt get a grasp on recruiting, he kept saying "But if you dont pay them why would they go there?"(He had heard of Beasley and was wondering why he went to Kansas State. He also dispelled the Guiness myth, most irish people drink Miller Lite at bars according to him)

Tipping back a few Select 55s right now. Bad aftertaste, but decent with lemon. And a shot of gentlemen jack.

FYI the Select 55's have like 2% alcohol. Try not to look too drunk off of it......

Blvd Pale Ale year round

Summertime-(the best drinking time)
Blvd Wheat
Cuba Libre with fresh squeezed lime juice, bacardi rum and a splash of pepsi

While attempting to shepard some inredibly packed friends home from the ville I let them get about 30 feet in front of me. I round the corner into the dara's parking lot right by hibachi hut and see 4 people attempting to fight on a large sheet of ice in the parking lot. Probably the greatest fight scene ever, my two drunk friends attempting to fight 2 randoms for no reason on a giant sheet of ice. Lots of flailing and falling, watched it for about 30 seconds before I stepped in to moderate the peace.

Working at Tubs I saw my fair share of bar fights, most ended with bouncers dragging people out in choke holds.....

On a side note is there a better job for a meat head than a bouncer? Get paid to use your brute strength to subdue incredibly wasted people half your size, they eat that crap up.

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: How Many Credit Cards Do You Have?
« on: February 13, 2010, 02:49:43 PM »
Bank of Blue Valley here in KC has a pretty great checking account deal, 4% apy which is more than you would earn in any savings account or CD. They make their money by requiring you to run your debit card as a credit card at least 12 times a month so that they can collect on those transaction fee's. You also get $25 in ATM reimbursement every month since they dont have very many locations. Can have up to $25,000 in the account.

I also have a question for SD and the other churners out there. Does the constant applying for and canceling credit cards have any effect on your credit score?

Essentially Flyertalk / Re: How Many Credit Cards Do You Have?

Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa is nice.

Use it on anything, and use it towards a southwest purchase and it doubles your credits.

Each dollar is worth 1 credit. (double if it is towards southwest purchase)

1200 credits is 1 point.

16 points for a free roundtrip flight to any Southwest destination.

When you sign up for Rapid Rewards Visa, you automatically get 8 points, and you get 2 points for creating a Rapid Rewards account on southwest.com. (10 points total)

This leaves only 6 points for your first free rountrip flight.  Each one-way flight is 1 point.

Pretty badass IMO.  I use it as a company card, and some of my coworkers have over 13 free roundtrip flights waiting to be used.

Just applied for this one. Fly nothing but southwest for work when I can. Plan on putting all flights on that card instead of company card and just having them reimburse me.

Essentially Flyertalk / Packing for a trip
« on: February 10, 2010, 02:48:26 PM »
What kind of packer are you? Do you plan out exactly what your going to wear everyday 2 weeks in advance and only pack what you are planning on wearing? Or do you simply throw a crap ton of clothes in a bag and hour before you leave and hope you have everything ?

I'm part of the latter, if going on business I'll make sure I have enough dress shirts and pants but other than that I just throw some random collection of clothes in my bag and start praying.

I ALWAYS bring a swimsuit, have since I was a kid. You never know what could happen or if the hotel has a sweet pool or what

Are you serious?  Dude looked amazing.

I believe your thinking about that handsome norwegian Sig Hansen.

Phil Harris was a walking stroke. Think about it, a 300lb man who smokes 2 packs a day while drinking coffee so black Mass Seff tried to recruit it. It was gonna happen eventually....

I bet it sucks ass in real life when you try to use it.  Like, stuff prolly sticks to the blades and sides and won't chop at all and then when you lift it to get the stuff off the sides/blades the stuff on the bottom falls out the sides so you can't continue to chop it.

Sounds like a unsatisfied customer

Who gets their news from the newspaper any more?  LHC Bill Snyder probly.

While taking a crap it is easier to read a newspaper than read a pc or lap top

Gonna have to disagree with you there...

Well you must be a monk and not distracted by the mountains of porn out there just waiting to be seen.
