Kansas State Football / Re: KSU vs. Auburn What the Hell was that?!!?
« on: September 19, 2014, 05:54:04 PM »
The mighty Tigers came to the Plains of Kansas and squeaked out a W on the road. Bizarre game all the way around. Obviously very disappointed in the result and this virtually kills our shot of making the Inaugural Playoff.

The Good

Good Loud Crowd

Defense Played very well and held Auburn to 2.8/ rush!!!!!

Overall we held them to 4.7 yards per play. Auburn averaged 8.5 yards per play in conference play last year.

The defense continues to make personnel adjustments that seem to be working. I liked Green and Dakorey Johnson playing more. Green had 5 tackles one of them for loss.  Johnson had an interception, 6 tackles (2 for loss).

The Bad

Cantele who I considered a really good college kicker, had the worst game of his career. :dunno:

They stopped our run and held us to 1.3 yards per rush :bawl:

The Future
This team realistically has a shot of making one of the big bowls (Peach, Cotton, Sugar or Fiesta) and winning the Big 12Unfortunately we cost ourselves a chance at the playoffs.
Ahh don't think like that.  Run the table and you still have a shot. Imagine if we do too(not likely but lets humor ourselves here). There would be a big story for a rematch in the first round.

Are we supposed to plant crops on the field?
Y'all are fond of wheat. could be interesting. (a new meaning for getting lost in the secondary) No worse than Boise's Blue field.

would beat every single one of those pud-ass teams. Hell the best team there is aTm and we owned them in the big12. That's a big part of why they left FYI.

You guys are so full so crapola. I just looked it up and you are 6-8 against TAM all time   you won the last 3 and they won the 5 before that.  That is a strange definition of owned.
Alltime against mizzou is so painful I won't post  but you won the last 1 and lost the 5 before that.

As far as Mizzou making the SEC ch .. good for them. They where still the 4th best in conference.  TAM was the 4th in the west division alone.

Just a note. SEC folks don't think that other premier Teams from other conferences could not compete in the SEC. They would just be more beat up at the end of the year and they would not be as constantly at the top as in their respective conferences.  We have much more churn.

we are just filled to the brim you guys

hey I think y'all played well on the d-line and forced us out of our game.  Both teams made mistakes and it was a tense game. While it may not look like it I think both teams will do well  in the rest of their games. If they can just clean up some correctable issues.
But don't make ridiculous comments that are easily verified and then get upset when you get called out.(not you personally because it wasn't your comment)

that was the most painful game i've ever watched in person. crats to auburn I guess.
jesus.
Um... thanks?
Look on the bright side although Auburn did not look like it, they are ranked # 5 and you only lost by 6 early in the season. I did not see you suffer that many injuries, and your team has had two bloody fights already. You still have a shot at the Big12, and I just think UTEP and Texas Tech will feel all the pain from this night.

Too bad both of those teams are terrible. There is no reason to believe that the remaining big games on the schedule won't make our best players crap the bed just like tonight.

We said the same thing last year till about half way through the season. Beating Johnny put us over the top and we started believing. LSU loss was our turning point to get there though!

I don't believe the Refs had anything to do with us losing the game. Missed field goals and a dropped/intercepted touchdown pass did. Anyone who thinks different is a moron.

Missed opportunities should be the tag line of the game.  Both sides left significant points on the field and off the board.  We had dropped passes, missed open receivers and in the run game a few key blocks that would have blown open a couple plays. I do think both teams will show they are significantly better as the season goes on.

We had a penalty assessed on the opening kickoff. You Auburn fans are full of crap.
No you didn't . How about this ... show that I am full of crap and present a box score from any outlet that has a penalty for KSU.

I saw at least 3 or 4 flags on the field. The referee addressed the crowd and called an illegal kick out of bounds. If that isn't a penalty, then what is, Barner?
again .. provide a link to a box-score of the game that agrees with you.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kickoff_(gridiron_football)#Penalties

The section on penalties agrees with me.
So what you are saying is ... "I wanna be mad and I have to justify my ridiculous claim. I can't back it up by providing a single link showing that in this game that an officially recorded penalty".
Take it up with the NCAA as they do not score it as a penalty for there records and as you will find if you do a bit of looking, Not one outlet will have it scored that way in their box scores.  But if you think them calling a kick-off infraction bolsters your case ... by all means believe it with all your heart.

Maybe you should take it up with the refs and Coach Gus. We would have been happy to give you the ball where it went out of bounds.

LOL  Either you have already looked or you won't spend the time to try to provide that link.  I think we both know why.  And again if it makes you feel better and you think it bolsters your case .... take it close to your heart and hang on tight.

Kickoff out of bounds is not a penalty in that sense.  It never is recorded as one in box-scores.

worth repeating, way too many no calls on them

You do realize that KSU had 0 penalties assessed? They where holding all night on the O-line.

I want some. Opponent leaves 17 easy points on the board. Muffed punt snap turns into a 50 yard field flip. One of the most sure handed receivers in the college game not only drops ball in his chest in the end zone but it turns into an interception. Somewhat reliable field goal kicker turns into basket case. Defender falls down on TD reception. Fumble on final scoring drive goes through the hands of the player with the best chance to recover. Two defenders juggle sure interception later in the drive.
Wore damn breaks out, surely.
I would say great game. But it wasn't so I will say tough game.  Both teams had their moments, but mostly very poorly played. Your team was not the only ones to leave points on the field. We had a few bad throws and dropped balls that would have been either td's or huge plays. There where also other plays where there was a guy missed wide open.In the run game there were some missed blocks that could have blown it open. I don't tally up our missed points though because they don't count. Other than that KSU was holding on the O-line all night long but never got called. Also on a couple of drives we had some very odd play calls. Like the 3 plays late that we didn't have marshal in for. We where just starting to roll and that broke the rhythm.

What I would say is that for KSU, They played with heart. They were not afraid to attack the run. They fought through adversity and were still out there giving it their all. Lockett was close to breaking one too. I thought they kinda gave up on some of the power running plays that seemed to work early. A heartbreak for sure. But also something to build on. We are a pretty good team that didn't play all that well but your team was a big reason for that. When we had our miscues, your team was there to make sure we didn't get back in a rhythm. So kudos to your team. If they can build off of the good in the game they will win a bunch.

I tried to hang out and see if there where any morsels of actually football knowledge and talk about KSU.  But it seems that is not their focus.
Anyway, We are about to head over to topeka and check out the "Rowhouse". Someone said it was good. We shall see.  See ya at the game tomorrow!

We have also had a few bald eagles.  Spirit was one of them. I think Spirit was the one that flew in the Olympics but I am not sure.

When you see a squirrel run across the field do you yell "war squirrel". I don't get why a crowd would yell "war"  at an animal doing animal things.

War Eagle was a common name for the golden eagle.  And of course it isn't the same eagle from way back.(of course the story is doubtful..that is just legend, don't get so hung up on it.)  There have been 7 named eagles.
We have a Vet school and one of the specialties is raptors.

A lot of horrible posters in this thread, on both sides.  :flush:
I had a totally different experience in 2007 with the nice KSU folks that came down to the plains.

Rare indeed it is to observe we mountain folk descending down into the plains.

Ok, that got a laugh out of me.
I flew a buddy into Kansas to pick up a plane once. When we entered the state I noticed a shine on the ground. It looked like the shallowest lake I had ever seen. Horizon to Horizon. At least the airport was built a few feet higher.

It was probably a reservoir dumbass

It was a flood. But thanks for playing. Not.
Man can't even relay an experience with your state without the trolls coming out.

I have never been to Alabama.

There is no reason to go there.
Ok.

By the way, the folks I met from KSU in 2007 are much different than most of your bunch here.  They where actually quite pleasant.

Perhaps it's because we don't show up everywhere we go with this extreme superiority complex thinking there's no way we don't win by 30+ simply because we are SEC-SEC-SEC...

Save for a few level-headed AU fans that have actually considered the fact that pretty good football might take place on a couple dozen campuses outside of the embarrassing part of the US, virtually every Tiger backer has been condescending & dismissive at best.

 :buh-bye:

Since you are responding to me, show me where I have?
And you might also read a few of the folks on your side , even their so called "no BS" posts to get some perspective.

I'll just reference my post you just quoted and point out that you chose to lump yourself in with the first group, rather than the second, before posing your question if that's ok...

Actually you made an excuse to as why you believe many folks here are not as pleasant.
I merely asked if you could point out where I fit your description since some of the unpleasantness was directed at me and that was what I commented on. Or course it was alas just an empty excuse.

Why is it roll DAMN eagle and also roll DAMN tide?

Only Harvey says "Roll damn tide".    The others just say ... "Rrrrrooooooollllll  Tide"  while holding a tide box with a toilette paper roll attached.
We then started to act out the "rolling of the tide"  in the late 60's and it grew from there.  So it is nice when they bring the rolls along for us.

Guys, I was just thinking. What if we had actual zebras for refs on Thursday? Would you just laugh your ass off? I would.
Then they might be able to keep up with the offenses!

By the way if you guys hear "Boo" Thursday night it is really "Duuuukkkke".  Some of the Arkies thought we were booing.
For the love of God. It is "were." Not "where."
