I'm still pissed at the JYCs, and football is dead to me, so I made this thread. Are we gonna be good? Will we get home field advantage over the Red Sox in the playoffs? Why couldn't we get Zack Grienke? Please advise.

I think they are in MLB which is a different league. Some would say a better one. Don't know the exact rule but I doubt he'd be eligible to dawn the purple, black & white.

Doesn't really matter. Teams play a ton of scrub teams in the ooc and a few good ones. WSU played Niagra this weekend. As long as you win, you're good. And TCU was like one game from playing for the NC last year. Surprised KU won one from them, they must have lost some dudes from their CWS team.

last game sandstorm was used to spur a comeback win for the batquatz. down 2 sandstorm was played in the 8th (i think) and we scored 2 in the 9th to tie and then win in the 13th (I think). Took a little bit for the sandstormemawojo to work its way over from the Bram to the Toint.

so the closers haven't been able to overcome the bad fielding then. seems like we haven't been a great fielding team under hill.

Defense sucked fat rough ridin' balls. Not even remotely correct decision making when it came to fielding bunts.
This team cannot manufacture a rough ridin' run to save its life. We had 10 hits, the top of the order was getting on and we couldn't close the rough ridin' deal. I really don't see how our situational hitting could get any worse.

who ever is teaching fielding needs to be beating with a wooden bat. Once again shitty fielding costs us go ahead runs. Today the go ahead was caused when the fielder (I think Witt) clutched it 3 times and couldn't decided to go for a non-force out situation or prevent the go ahead at home.

nice win tonight from the Cats 2-0. Great starting pitching going 7 & 1/3. Very very very good defense turning I think 3 double plays which is about as many as we have at home all season. Cats were able to catch 2 or 3 guys trying to steal second. The team looked very settled and confident.

game was over in the 5th (i think) when we got DICKED on a call which should have been strike 3. Instead blue called it a ball and the next toss was a 3 run blast. OU never looked back and we looked complete uninterested in the game.
Tanner Witt, and Jason King probably shouldn't be playing until they get their crap squared away. Witt hasn't been doing a good Man-Ram impersonation by not running out ground balls and his approach at the plate has been crap. Jason King needs to figure out how to hit. This is the second year with all warning track hits and nothing else.

I saw kids walking over from across the street from dorms/frats with cheap beer. Got the impression it was a somewhat routine happening for games. Also saw a kid driving away from campus with a car completely full of stuff jdagg-style as if he was driving home (like somewhere not in Wichita) for the summer. :dunno:
Of course, the majority of them brought a few EMAW friends who are already home for the summer from real school.

They are speculating that Daren Erstad, Creighton's coach and Virginia's coach could be potential hires. Would think the VA coach would be out of their reach but he's from Council Bluffs so maybe he wants to be closer to his crapty hometown.

Allen was named a 1st team AA, our first since 2009. Baseball powerhouse Wichita State's catcher O'Brien was also on the first team, their first since 1999. That's pretty funny.

The CWS as its covered today can essentially turn into a multi-day infomercial for the participating schools.
At this juncture I am pretty ready to see women's basketball dropped at K-State and replaced by a less expensive women's sport and then see the multi-million dollar losses of women's basketball moved over to baseball. It will never happen I know, but it would be worth it to try IMO.

Hill actually had nice class last year and an even better class coming in. We were super young at quite a few spots. He's doing a fine job and if we fire him we likely hire a coach who is inferior to him.

fwiw most college baseball teams do this. we just notice it more when it's our team.

The team blew a bunch of leads this season, they didn't blow many over the 3 or 4 seasons prior. When you have a ton of young guys, you tend to struggle. This board's chicken little syndrome is baffling.

Its another one of those "its always something" issues that the vast majority of K-State athletics seems to have on a consistent basis.
So if we raised Hill's budget another 50%, and built another 2,000 seats on the Frank, and doubled the size of the baseball indoor facility . . . then K-State would make the NCAA tourney every year and progress beyond the first round? What about a videoboard, would a videoboard at the Frank put the program over the top? How about a new sound system at the Frank, would a new sound system do it?
Gosh, if the baseball (only) weightroom was twice as big, then, then you'd see some real winning.

Couldn't have been that incogent, you ultimately figured it out. The SP was decent this year but the pen was dreadful, regardless that season is over and those guys are gone. There are a lot of good young arms that will be relied on next season. The question is whether they'll step up. You don't know dick about baseball if you think that question can answered in this thread. The OSU guy who had a 5 era two seasons ago just got drafted 9th overall after winning big xii pitcher of the year posting a 1.6 era this season. There is depth.
