Only rumors, nothing confirmed......but it's being reported that Urban Meyer is out as coach at the University of Florida.

:users: doubt it

never mind i take back my doubt it comment back

What a drama queen. I thought he retired last year.
-
"I have been a Division I football coach for the last 25 years and, during that time, my primary focus has been making a difference in the lives of the young men I have been so fortunate to have coached and building championship programs," Meyer said in a statement. "At this time in my life, however, I fully grasp the sacrifices my 24/7 profession has demanded of me, and I know it is time to put my focus on my family and life away from the field.
"The decision to step down was a difficult one. But, after spending more than two decades motivating and celebrating the young men I've been so proud to coach, I relish the opportunity to cheer for my three terrific kids as they compete in their own respective sports. I know how fortunate I am to be in a position to make this choice and to have a family that is as loving and supportive as my amazing wife and children have always been. My family has shared both the commitment and the sacrifice required to coach at this level for so long and I would not have enjoyed the success I have had without their support."

All part of the plan..... :crossfingers:

Great slowplay by Meyer over the last 10 years(ish), IMO. Gig at a MAC school, coach up a non-AQ contender, learn the ropes of being a HC at a BCS school, then get the keys to the kingdom from a Legend. Will surely retire as LHCUM
-
Crap, now Paul Rhoads can choose between Pittsburgh and Florida... damnit!!
-
He picked the perfect time....Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina are kicking down his door.
I wonder if UF will go get Spurrier again? That would be fun.
-
They should hire Prince.
-
Co-coordinator? I'm sure Urban would be down for this.
-
Dana Dimel - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs
Del Miller - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Urban Meyer - Co-Offensive Coordinators
-
Crap, now Paul Rhoads can choose between Pittsburgh and Florida... damnit!!
Either program should be happy. The last two ISU head coaches were coaching in the national title game just a couple years after getting out of Ames.

Coaches already with National Title Rings formerly employed at Iowa State in some way:
Johnny Majors
Pete Carroll
Mack Brown
Dan McCarney
Soon to be:
Gene Chizik
-
:emawkid:
Florida won't be able to afford a new football coach and new basketball coach in the same year.

They should go for Chris Peterson or Kyle Whittingham.

All of this great coaching turnover and we are going to be stuck with OB and the Tired Ass Brigade :frown:

Can't believe I forgot that. Eh, finals week. Too busy making Trim proud.

Dana Dimel - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs
Del Miller - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Urban Meyer - Co-Offensive Coordinators
All fine and dandy until Urban sneaks out of the office to grab a coke.
-
OMG murder waiting in the wings... Will be billed as a "bus accident" where the driver "just didn't see him crossing." Herbie just called the SEC the best college football conference in the nation, "year in and year out."
RIP Herbie, you made cheeseburger bearable. :frown:
-
Mods, please change this to out at Ohio State too. TIA.
-
Welp!
-
why the welp wacky
-
Urban Meyer to KU next year???
-
why the welp wacky
Not sure. Didn’t think it would happen this soon. Miller at Arizona is still breathing somehow. That was just really fast. Happy it happened.
-
Jim Harbaugh has to be cackling and rolling a blunt right about now
-
Bill should jump to tOSU to try get a title.
-
administrative leave is just for optics. they'll do some kangaroo court investigation and he'll stay on at OSU.
-
Not this close to a season

Not this close to a season
Why not, Izzo is still at MSU?
-
Thinking football wise, but ya, you’re right.

Izzo should definitely be gone, but this seems worse for some reason. (I'm not remembering the details of the Izzo thing clearly)
-
He's on paid admin leave right now from OSU

I just find it impossible they don't find something. The victim told his wife and he claims he hadn't heard about this previously. I don't know how your marriages work, but we tell each other everything. Especially if I was making millions of dollars a year and my job might be in jeopardy for it.

No way he gets the ax. Maybe suspended for a few games? They open with Oregon State, Rutgers then the neutral site game vs. TCU. Can't imagine him not being on the sidelines for that last one.
-
I thought Art Briles would survive the Baylor situation when it initially came out. I know it’s a totally different scale but you never know what the breaking point for an individual school might be.

I tend to be in line of this thinking. If anything, I can't imagine sitting on that info and not telling anyone regardless if they were my spouse, but even more if they were.
-
"Harvard of the Plains" definitely has put feelers out to Meyer's agent to see if he'd be willing to lead the GOAT program turnaround.
-
He may get suspended a game or two but that is the most that will happen. If they did find reason to fire him and want to fire him, some SEC school would send a dump truck of money to his house immediately.
-
Urban: Man it'd be nice if someone in the coaching profession spoke out for me.
Jay Paterno: Ohio State should stand up to the mob mentality and wait for facts.......
Urban: NOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo

Urban, listen. It’s your old bud SB here. I know sometimes after a big mistake, your whole life might come tumbling down. It might feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Hell, you might even be beating yourself up about what you should’ve done years ago, and that’d be completely natural. But trust me when I say this: it will get better for you IF you correct course and come to a place that can help you straighten up and fly right. Of course I am talking about the Heartland of America. Your career is down but it doesn’t HAVE to be over. Look yourself in the mirror for a good, long time, and make the decision that will help you resurrect your career. We did it for Bryce Brown, and we’ll do it for you.
Kansas State University. We have NBAF. And a Sudler (brought to us by an alum of tOSU!).

I thought the 2009 incident where his "spiritual advisor" explicitly asked the woman to not press charges was almost worse than 2015. But both are pretty shitty.

I didn’t read a ton on it but maybe suggesting marriage counseling for domestic abuse wasn’t the 100% best route.

Tom, you're the GOAT but get all the way the hell outta here with Project Veritas. Was info wars not available with an Urban Meyer take?
-
Just came to post the exact same thing. SB and MIR, 2 IRL buds/great minds who think alike.

Thats obvious, but what makes you say that? What info do you have for which you base this statement, fella?

A little something I call common sense, chief. Ever heard of it?

we are so lucky we haven't been confronted with a real scandal involving Snyder

JFC. I don't want to think about that kk.

Yea, I'd much rather pretend we don't have any POS fans.

I'm fairly certain I would end up believing we shouldn't have an athletics department anymore.
-
This may have already been covered but allegedly Tom Herman reached out to McMurphy about Meyer knowing about Zach Smith beating his wife. The article makes some pretty big leaps but states catalyst was Urban stealing a 5 Star WR out from under UT in late April.

What makes a good act a good act? Is it the intent or the outcome? An age old debate for certain.

The Hermans also allegedly have paid for the ex battered wife’s legal fees way before all this came to light, so I’d say this one tips the scales for good.

mcmurphy also came out after this report and stated that herman was not the source.
“I have never revealed my sources in my nearly four decade journalistic career & I am not going to start now. However, I will say unequivocally that Tom Herman was not my source.”
