flattered but i'm not drinking the kool aid. i think what K-State fans are getting a glimpse into, is how these preseason rankings come together.
one or two respected outlets will release their top 25 and then everyone else just follows suit, maybe moving a few of the teams around. the snowball just starts rolling down hill.
Texas was preseason #3 last year, UNC and Illinois were preseason top 10. we have a lot of questions to answer going into this season, hopefully Frank isn't too wet behind the ears and doesn't fall into the hype.

Now that the league is actually going to start calling fouls, the streetball that Frank runs will quickly get abused by teams with strong fundamentals and team play. Quite frankly it was about time the NCAA tried to clean up the game before it became the little NBA.
Anyone can get ranked highly in the PREseason. Frank is a media darling (with his "poor immigrant" sob story and minority status) that ESPN loves to highlight to show how "oh so progressive" they are. Same reason ESPN hyped Ron Princess when he was destroying our football program. You sheep keep chewing that grass, but soon enough you'll realize they're just fattening you up for the slaughter.

It's interesting that the coaches think so highly of K-State (also considering the Big 12 coaches' pick). I wonder if Frank is well-respected in the coaching community and this has picked up some votes for K-State. :dunno: Of course, at a lot of places, the SID or basketball ops guy is the one who actually fills out the ballot.
I would expect to see us lower in the Big 12 media and AP polls. KU will get more first place votes, if not be picked to win the Big 12, and it will be closer in the AP poll as well (depending on any new Selby info).

Dave Jones (or at least somebody from that Harrisburg paper) was all over our nuts last year. I wonder if there is some connection there or if he keeps voting us so high because we rough ridin' run that poll speak voter crap.

Let me start by telling you that I love Kansas State as much as the next guy ... as long as the next guy isn't ranking Kansas State ahead of Duke this preseason. I can't get with that next guy, because he's really just a look-at-me-I'm-different guy, which brings me to Dave Jones and Kevin Dunleavy.
(Sorry, Dave. You did this to yourself, buddy.)
Those are the two AP voters who put Kansas State No. 1, and it's the first thing that stood out when I looked at the poll. The reason it stood out is because it can't be intelligently justified. Even those who hate Duke have to acknowledge this roster might be more talented and better equipped than last season's roster to run through the regular season, and last season's roster won the freaking national championship. The Blue Devils have a perfect mix of experience and NBA talent, plus the most accomplished coach in America. Let me start by telling you that I love Kansas State as much as the next guy ... as long as the next guy isn't ranking Kansas State ahead of Duke this preseason. I can't get with that next guy, because he's really just a look-at-me-I'm-different guy, which brings me to Dave Jones and Kevin Dunleavy.

Those are the two AP voters who put Kansas State No. 1, and it's the first thing that stood out when I looked at the poll. The reason it stood out is because it can't be intelligently justified. Even those who hate Duke have to acknowledge this roster might be more talented and better equipped than last season's roster to run through the regular season, and last season's roster won the freaking national championship. The Blue Devils have a perfect mix of experience and NBA talent, plus the most accomplished coach in America. One time, I took this little tiny plane from Dallas to ICT. Anyhoos, it was too small to connect with the terminal so it just parked out on the cormac and we had to enter through some side door. It was freaking weird.
