Title: Massa Self does it again
Post by: weird roberts foam finger on February 05, 2010, 01:06:51 PM
His unbelievable ability at taking lottery talents and turning them into 4-year players strikes again!

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=172&f=2481&t=5572606 (http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=172&f=2481&t=5572606)

What cracks me up is all their fans assume the guy is going to be around another season or 3 and think nothing of it ... and they're of course right because Self ruins careers.

Judge>Henry

Who is a worse parent, Carl Henry or Toni Mitchell's mom?

I'd say Carl Henry because look at what Cal is letting Wall do.  He has basically turned him into the #1 overall pick.

I don't see Wally Judge anywhere on this list.  Obviously Frank ruins 5-star recruits.

You've got to be kidding me.  Did you see the improvement of Kaun or Jackson from their freshman to senior years?  Hell, just look at the improvement of Marcus Morris from his freshman to sophomore year.

BMW's KU Future commit Josh Selby....I see alot of those types on those lists...Harrison Barnes, Brandon Knight, Willie Warren, Greg Monroe.

You could also take the improvement of Aldrich from his freshman year to sophomore/junior year as an example.  This is exactly what I was talking about though when I said that Kietzman's message applies to a lot of posters on this board as well.  The idea that Bill Self and his staff don't develop players is as delusional as it gets.

Schyler Thomas was incredible when he was a senior compared to when he was a freshman.  only great assistants like Chuckie Baker can make stuff like that happen.

I think the word around the NBA is that Cole is the white Emeka Okafor, probably not even worth the 6 spots lower.  Going to be brutal watching a Scalabrine with no offensive game.

When recruiting these players, KU fans clamor about the fact that they are bluechip NBA can't-miss players.  Yet, by the time they are done at KU, none of them do sh*t at the next level.  What gives?

Going from a zero to average is much easier than going from above average to hero.

Question remains:  has Seff ever developed any TALENT?

BMW, your arguments are weak like the ukraine.  tons of players are making millions of dollars who had terrible coaches.  why do Kaun and Jackson (who were both elite recruits) not play professionally if they don't go to KU.  what happens to them if they go to Oklahoma St or South Florida that prevents them from playing for money?

What makes you think Wally cant improve? He's shown flashes of talent. I think wants the confidence goes up he could be a force in the BIG 12. He's already gotten huge compared to what he was in high school, so he'll be bigger.. STill one of the most athletic players in the confrence. I see Walyl improving Like Aldrich did from his frosh/soph years.. But not as much as cole

When Frank destroys a kid's draft status he goes all the way and just ends up destroying the kids life.  Lesson learned.  Self just hangs that carrot in front of his work horses long enough for them to his work for them.   Frank has a lot to learn

Bill Self will always publically trash his own players' abilities after the season is over in order to plant seeds with any NBA scouts.

Wasn't there an exact quote from Massa Self earlier this year that Marcus was the most talented player he has ever coached? Seems like the most talented player wouldn't have problems with being a three.

Klink mentioned on BITB today that after the official presser Seff stood around and answered more informal questions.  Said the topic of T-Rob to the NBA came up and Seff seemed really taken aback by the idea that he would leave for the NBA.  As if it's not even an option for him and he's so not ready that it's not even worth considering.

It's really appalling, but you gotta give it to the guy.  He's really, really good at this crap.  Kinda similar to how Hitler was really, really good at killing Jews.

From a common-sense standpoint, not that I have much, but if there is a lockout and the season doesn’t start until February or whenever it would be, it’s hard for these young kids to go in when there’s no training camp and there’s no practice time, to show they need to be playing in games when the playoffs are only three months away,” Self said. “It could be a lost season for some of those guys because there’s not going to be an opportunity to grow and learn and play through mistakes when you’re playing five games a week and you’ve got to win.”

the massa

self will scare the sh*t out of them with the potential lockout.  then give them some bs about improving their draft stock and dollars, forgetting what they leave on the table for a year.

Clockwork

Self has to cover the program's butt as to why Selby passes his classes this semester.  Otherwise, don't they lose the 'ship?  Pretty sure that if someone transfers or jumps early that they lose the 'ship if that player wasn't in good academic standing.  Could be wrong..

He's at it again. Top 5 draft pick riding the pine.

Freshman wing Kelly Oubre played just four minutes and sat the entire second half during Kansas’ 69-59 win Friday. Oubre, a McDonald’s All-American wing, is still trying to find comfort in Kansas’ system.

“It was a coach’s decision,” Self said, “just trying to do what’s best for our team. It’s not a knock to Kelly. It’s just, he’s young.”

This is how it works: Any guy can get into an argument with a woman in public and she can push him and then he can push her arm away - and her friend can witness it and call the cops and her friend can say that "he pushed her arm away" and that's enough for him to get arrested for domestic battery. Then, the law says he has to see a magistrate before release. BUT, that magistrate can read the report and say it's just Disorderly Conduct and set a 0$ bail and release him immediately. At best, it's just an embarrassment for Bragg. At worst there was actual malicious intent and there will be further judicial action. But, believe it or not, just because he was arrested and spent the night in jail doesn't mean he'll actually be charged with what he was arrested for. Cops have no choice but to make an arrest in some cases (with DB reports). But, that doesn't necessarily mean DB occurred. So, just chill out and wait to see what happens this morning when he sees the magistrate and the case is reviewed and charges are actually filed vs an arrest being made.

That person sure does have a detailed knowledge of what happens to someone when they get arrested for domestic battery.  It's almost like they have personally experienced it 1 or 6 times.

One thing I don't understand about domestic violence (really assault on a female that you know) is looked at so differently than other assaults. We all agree if he put his hand on his girl, that is despicable behavior, and maybe he does deserve to get booted from the squad. But why is it looked at in such a different light than getting into a fight when a man? If he would have punched some guy and broke his noise and teeth, he would not get kicked off the team. We seem to think that behavior is more acceptable. The view we SHOULD have is that they are BOTH unacceptable.

For example, Tiger Woods got hit in the head with a golf club by his wife. Nobody cared. Blake Griffin (who is a massive man) punched a team manager (a much smaller man) and broke his jaw and injured him greatly. Instead of Griffin being booted from the team, or the NBA, he was barely disciplined and the Clippers fired the team manager at the end of the year, NOT Blake Griffin. If he had done that to a woman, he would have been kicked out of the NBA.

Carlton looks pretty happy in his mugshot, obviously happy to be part of the club.

Now, before we all jump to conclusions ... what was the GF's role in this? Did she assault him first, was he reacting to her, did she antagonize him like some women have a tendency to do? Take Ray Rice, for instance. His wife repeatedly hit him, got in his face, cussed him out nose to nose, and spit on him. He'd had enough, he decked her. Not that I condone hitting women, but some of them deserve it because they don't know when to quit.

But what if what really happened is that she took a swing at him and broke her hand on his iron-clad Jaw, and the impact pushed her back down some stairs as if she was Keanu Reeves in "The Matrix" dodging a bullet?
Would you still kill him?

Student section should wear tank top undershirts (aka wife beaters) with Carlton written on the back to the ku game to raise awareness for shitheads that knock around women and then laugh about it.
