He rarely wrote about K-State but when he did it was awesome. Our Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) fanbase would call for his head with e-mail campaigns to the star and threats to cancel their subscription and kstatefans.com would start a push to have Mark Janssen declared as the only writer allowed to cover K-State.
I don't think our fanbase had anything to do with it. We emailed the Star about Kellis and the Star just laughed at us.
Whitlock didn't like being required to write a bi-weekly, it's a lot of work and thats not JW's thing. I bet he wants to write a book, then do the occasional column for ESPN or whoever will pay him.

Exactly. K-State, KU and probably MU fans all want glowing pieces about their schools night in and night out. Whitlock writes thought provoking opinion pieces and isn't afraid to step on toes if the situation calls for it. 99% of KSU fans would likely be happier if they got all their K-State news from the Manhattan Mercury.

Whitlock also made an amazing leap in his abilities on radio and tv. He was painful to listen when he was on with Boeger on 1510 at the beginning, just a lot of awkward pauses and hard to understand mumbling.

Whitlock and Nick had some beef for along time and when nick got hired by fox sports whitlock was working there. Nick tried to reach out to squash the beef but whitlock wouldnt return his phone calls then finally agreed to meet him for lunch then stood nick up.
Some VP finally calls then into a conference room to make them get along and nick goes into some long winded speech about how Whitlock should at least have the dignity/respect to return a phone call or let him know that he cant make the lunch.

I'm gonna be honest, I really miss early to mid 2000s KC sports media. You had Whitlock, Posnanski, Keitzman, Steven St. John was an up and comer in the morning, Jack Harry, it was just a great time to be a sports fan in town (except the Royals were awful)

It was an awful long rant to be just about Whitlock being a sellout if you ask me. There's gotta be more to it than just that but I'll be damned if I could discern exactly what the beef was from the video. I think at one point SAS was complaining about Whitlock saying he wasn't a real writer, and then he went right into selling his book (it's in paperback now).

15 minutes of something about Pat McAfee then about 45 minutes of calling Whitlock a fat bastard and a liar and a piece of crap with apologies to his family and pastor sprinkled in. Also two or three 3 minute breaks to sell his book. Kinda wish I had that 45 minutes of my life back TBH (watched it at 1.5 speed for the most part).
It was an awful long rant to be just about Whitlock being a sellout if you ask me. There's gotta be more to it than just that but I'll be damned if I could discern exactly what the beef was from the video. I think at one point SAS was complaining about Whitlock saying he wasn't a real writer, and then he went right into selling his book (it's in paperback now).
I truly don't know what you guys heard. The rant was not about Whitlock being a sellout, at all. I'm certain that SAS would take exception to that characterization. His friendship with Hannity is well documented, hell he mentioned it multiple times in this video in addition to apologizing to Glenn Beck and blaze media, more than once for them catching strays.
SAS was mad because Whitlock said Smith didn't even write his own book and hinted that he wasn't capable of doing so. Smith's clear issue is that Whitlock is a shitty person and he's a piece of crap to everyone in his life. I don't think he took a single shot at Whitlock's political leanings. The entire thing was about Jason as a person, not about selling out. I'd actually bet a healthy amount that politically, SAS and Whitlock are a lot closer than apart.
