CORAL GABLES _ Linebacker Arthur Brown, once considered the top recruit in the 2008 class, has left the University of Miami.

Brown withdrew from school recently, according to a source close to the situation. Brown was unavailable for comment, but the source said the move was not football-related. Brown would have been a junior this fall. He didn't workout with the team Tuesday.

Scout.com rated Brown as the nation's top recruit after he finished his career at Wichita East. He was a Parade All-American and a member of USA Today's All-USA Team, but he struggled during his two seasons at UM. He cited "terminology" problems as a freshman and continued the adjustment last year.

Brown recorded 13 tackles last season, playing mostly on special teams. In 2008, he had four tackles while appearing in 11 games.

got this in an email

Quote from: the only good GPC staff member
I've made some phone calls today and still have nothing concrete about his possible destination. I'm told that certain parties are not talking yet because they don't want things to get "messy".

That said, one of the many people I spoke with, who, of course, refused to say anything interesting on the record, offered only this.

"I think you're on the right track. Keep going. This will get interesting."

Do I know anything for sure? Not at all.

Do I think I know some things? Yes, I'm starting to feel that way.

I'm not trying to be cryptic or stir anything up. I'm just posting what I can in an effort to let you guys know we're working it.

Jaydan, I really believe he's the dark horse of the group. He's extremely intelligent. He gets it. He's got the size, he's got really good quickness. The other guys would probably beat him in a leg race, but he would probably beat them in a change of direction and quickness competition. We'll find out soon, but that's what my guess is.

JUCO?...not pretending to know the rule of transferring within conference

That still costs you a year of eligibility.  It's very strict in-conference.

Luke Axdell (UT to KU in MBB) was the last one of any note that I can remember who did this.  The conference lifted the rule for the Baylor basketball players who transferred after the Bliss deal.

Axtell didn't have to sit out the two years.  He transferred because Penders released his grades to the radio station.  Dodds petitioned the B12 to waive the rule because of Penders being a dumbass.

No one ever has to sit out two years...you just have to sit out one year, but you LOSE a fully year of eligibility.   Luke played his first year at UT, sat out at KU the next year, then played the next two years at KU.

Technically he lost 1 year.  He played 3 years of bball.

He had a "senior night" that second year at KU, but they also mentioned that injuries cut his career short.  In either case, the "RULE" is that if you transfer to another school in the conference you have to sit just one year (like normal) but you lose a year of elig.

"Shannon told the Palm Beach Post's Jorge Milian that linebacker Arthur Brown won't be coming back to UM. I've been told Brown's plan is to play at Butler Community College (Kan.) this season before jumping on in a year at Kansas State. Nobody from Brown's family -- nor his mentor Brian Butler -- have returned phone calls to address that."

Wasn't meaning to imply it was more advantageous.   Maybe, if this really is his intent, he thinks it will be less expensive to live at home and kill the dead year that way, or ??    Just sayin' he wouldn't necessarily be using up a years eligibility.

If you remember, Shannon would not let a QB who wanted out who had a very sick parent, and made stipulations that he could not play for any school in FLA to get his release.  Maybe Shannon is being a dick and Juco is the only route for one year to get away from that frackhead.

Wasn't meaning to imply it was more advantageous.   Maybe, if this really is his intent, he thinks it will be less expensive to live at home and kill the dead year that way, or ??    Just sayin' he wouldn't necessarily be using up a years eligibility.

He isn't going to a junior college

"Shannon told the Palm Beach Post's Jorge Milian that linebacker Arthur Brown won't be coming back to UM. I've been told Brown's plan is to play at Butler Community College (Kan.) this season before jumping on in a year at Kansas State. Nobody from Brown's family -- nor his mentor Brian Butler -- have returned phone calls to address that."

Makes no sense to go juco.  Off an UM board.
My friend is a trainer there.. And he would be one of the first to know if Arthur Brown is enrolling there because he would be able to see his enrolment papers he said. the JUCO rumor is NOT  TRUE

Tard reporting that Arthur has enrolled at BUTLER.

This has to simply be about getting some credits out of the way. No way he PLAYS at Butler.

If I have to explain to you the workings of tomato soup, even one more time, I am going to frackjing scream.
From one mineral formation to another please fill me in.

The Browns perform the sacred ritual of consuming only tomato soup during times of important contemplation.  Brian Butler is something of a tomato soup clergyman.

Talked to his dad yestetday. It is still very much undecided. Reason he left was he was getting alot of crap from players for his strong religious beliefs. Some players said he was not "thug" enough. Unfortunately pray em up Gill is going to be in the mix for him as well.

If that's the case, would a personality like his even fit in on our FB team? We're not exactly bible-beaters here either. I haven't heard Bill quote scripture, ever. Not looking good...

Maybe a class or two at MCC would be a draw.

Ulla Pomele was a strong Christian if I remember correctly and he was widely considered fine...as a human being, not necessarily a football player.

Most of those Samoan/Polynesian dudes are pretty devout.

Bottom line, if you can play football and are good...nobody cares what you worship in your free time.

Some one please tell him how many lives/souls he can save on "our" team.  Think this could help us with recruiting when he finds out about all of the sinners "we" have.   (ftp://:pray:)

We are going to need all the help we can get.  If a 2000 year old jewish zombie can win even 1 game, I say get him a uniform and a bowl of 'mato soup.

This is true, though some look down on him for being Wiccan.

Just in case this happens, I've been saving all the talking points about how he's a diva, overrated because he played against Kansas high schools, probably a cheater and has a terrible attitude.

Arthur covered kickoffs last night. I bet Sean didn't approach the All-American and ask if he would play this rather exhausting role. ABJ wanted to do this for KSU.
