I've been straying from this subject on Twitter but I have to give it to you guys raw now. If you Google "bad person," my face may very well pop up 2 pages into the search. Some people say, ‘Why worry about the haters?' This is bigger than just the concept of haters. I have a mission in life to bring truth and beauty through my music and the visuals that anchor around it.
The media has successfully diminished the "receptive" audience of (3rd person) KANYE WEST. Taking a 15 second blip, the media have successfully painted the image of the ANGRY BLACK MAN, The King Kong theory. I'm the guy who, at one point, could perform the Justin Timberlake on stage and everyone would be sooo happy that I was there.
People tweeted that they wish I was dead... No listen. They wanted me to die, people. I carry that. I smile and take pictures through that. I wear my scars. It's almost like I have to wear a suit to juxtapose my image. And I won't lie: It works.
I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful, and I want her to have it. If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her. She had nothing to do with my issues with award shows. She had no idea what hit her. She's just a li'l girl with dreams like the rest of us. She deserves the apology more than anyone. Thank you Biz Stone and Evan Williams for creating a platform where we can communicate directly. We're both artists, and the media and managers are trying to get between us. Everyone wants to capitalize off this in some way. I'm ready to get out of my own way. The ego is overdone... like hoodies.
I know there are family members friends and fans that have literally fought for me. There are people who have named their kids after me—can you imagine that next day in school. Even though I don't have kids, I am responsible for those who love and represent me and what they have to deal with on a day to day, defending "The American Psycho."
I watched Justin Timberlake at the Grammies lose every televised award including album of the year, which the Dixie Chicks won. I would have run on stage for Justin that night because Sexy Back (in my mind) was that important, that impactful to our culture.
It's not about race, America. No one in our position ever stands up and says anything anymore. I have given my awards to other groups multiple times on national TV; they never showed that this past year, during the massacre of Kanye.
Who's seen the play Wicked? I've seen it 4 times! Other than loving the music acting and costumes... it's my story! The Wicked Witch of the West basically is so convicted to tell her truth [that] when she does it, she is outcast by society and turned wicked.
With new-found humility, who am I to run on stage? I would never ever again in a million years do that. Sorry to let you down. It is distasteful to cut people off as a general rule. What's the point of dressing tastefully if I'm going to act the complete opposite? Yes I was that guy. A 32 year old child. When I woke up from the crazy nightmare I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE. I take the responsibility for my actions. I am not a bad person. Even in that moment I was only trying to do good.
But people don't always need my help. Beyonce didn't need that. MTV didn't need that. And Taylor and her family, friends, and fans definitely didn't want or need that.
These aren't regular tweets... this is stream of consciousness... I want you guys to know and feel where my head is at... It feels like the movie Heat, when you wanted Deniro to make it... You want the bad guy to make it.
These tweets have no manager, no publicist, no grammar checking [ed: they do now.]... this is raw. Humanity and Empathy are two of the four principles at facebook. Those were the two principles I was missing on that evening.
Why are there so many tweets? Well, this isn't a simple subject. There are layers to this beyond me running on stage. You've got the top layer: Kanye's rude! (If I speak in 3rd person it's because I'm quoting people; sometimes I forget to put [in] the quotations. You know my grammar.) You've got a layer of order... this is how things are supposed to go, this is how it's always been. etc; you've got a layer of-what is [it], reality? You really want this guy to die over an award show? Wooooooow... You've got the Media play... Who benefitted off of the moment? MTV? JAY LENO? BEYONCE? ALL FORMS OF MEDIA? TAYLOR? KANYE WEST? Who gained? Who lost?
Walk with me people... let's break this down for real now. I might get in trouble again. WHO BENEFITED, FOR REAL, PEOPLE? A year later where do we stand?
There's a layer of ‘hey Kanye said what I was thinking.' There's a layer of... Entertainment: We are entertainers and this is only TV, not the War. Why was it made into such a race issue? Taylor loves rap music... I love country music. TAYLOR LOVES RAP MUSIC... I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC. When I write songs like Heartless, I always say "is this melody good enough to be a country song or a broadway song?"
I've hurt, I've bled, I've learned. I only want to do good. I am passionate. I am human. I am real.
I wish I could meet every hater. I wish I could talk to every hater face to face, and change their opinion of me, one conversation at a time. I wish they all knew how much I really cared about music and pop culture and art and people's feelings. I wish they could accept that I've grown and only want to do good for the world. I want to help as many people as I can. I want to help starting with the music and ending with the smile. I want to win their hearts back so I can continue to bring my take on culture to the masses with a clean opinion.

Unfortunately everyone thinks you either need to hate him with the fury of 1000 suns, or worship the ground he walks on.

Not sure that wealth and "being nuts" are negatively correlated.
Also, not sure that what you described necessarily = happiness and self-actualization, but it might depending upon the person.
Money isn't a tool for everyone, sometimes it is an end that can never be achieved. Sometimes it is a trap.
"Fame" is much more likely to be a trap and to lead to "being nuts" which is the most relevant issue.

I don't think we've concluded anything about his mental health, nor are we probably in a good position to judge it. I just think that there are some very obvious distortions to your life that are inherent in being as famous as Kanye is. That clearly has consequences, although they are not the same for everyone.

Kanye is great at what he does and is also stricken with major character flaws. When someone can have millions of fans, be awesome at his chosen life's work, become very wealthy and still find the need to whine about being misunderstood or not shown enough love or whatever. Most white people think African-Americans are all young, angry men. So when show ponies like Kanye have these public meltdowns it entertains young white people because it plays up the stereotypes they want to believe. It's similar to how in the 90s there was a "goofball" African-American stereotype (Steve Urkel, Fresh Prince etc) that white people loved to laugh at. Now they love to laugh at the "angry black man".

And there are far better candidates for "angry black man" in hip hop that lack the open vulnerability and insecurity that Kanye displays. But they aren't as popular because they aren't nearly as good.
Again, he would have a point if someone with the talent of Nelly had risen to Kanye's level. No one today, white or black, is pushing boundaries with music at the level of Kanye while maintaining enormous commercial success. No one really has in the past few decades with perhaps the exception of Radiohead (and IMO it's debatable that they should be considered to be on his level.)

Did you read the tweets? I don't necessarily agree with everything, but it's an interesting perspective that at least affected the way I looked at the skit.
I think a general point the person is trying to make is that if Thom Yorke said something similar to what Kanye said, he wouldn't have been ridiculed the same way. I could be wrong.

When asked about where the disjointed feel for Yeezus came from, he answers by saying it came from going to the louvre and furniture exhibits and learning about architecture and being frustrated that no one is taking him seriously as a clothing backer (?) and then he talks about Michael Jackson in the context of civil rights and then about his family's role in the civil rights movement then he talks about his truman showboat (i have no idea what he says there, is that a turn of phrase i don't understand? it's around the 10:20 mark) and about how he's evolved into a "product person" ranging from clothing to water bottle design to architecture to "everything you can think about" and then it's back to his role in the modern civil rights movement then it's back to his South Park photo and then he credits south park with rhetorical question about whether there'd be a giovanti (?) in the hood without his south park photo and about how people were mean to him about him wearing skinny jeans and then he credits himself for bringing real rap back and then talks again about how people are mean to him in internet comments and not giving him credit for bringing tons of product to humanity and then about how he reminds Pusher T to keep it real and brings it all back as some kind of extended metaphor for the pressures modern day artists succumb to in order to fit into the "culture," but he's trying to bust down that culture or at least find his own role in it in terms of how ahead of the leather jogging pants craze he was and how many dinners with Anna Winter he has and then asks how many people you see wearing leather jogging pants these days and brings it all home with how rap is the new rock and roll and Kanye's the biggest rapper/rock and roll guy in the world.
Somewhere in there he was upset that people classify his "motivational speeches" as rants. It looks like there was some whining in there. There was certainly some whining about Kimmel's skit on twitter. The interview mostly seemed to consist of random stuff though.
And that's the story of how Yeezus's disjointed feel came about.

They were both very obviously nervous/shook, especially Jimmy. He seemed legitimately confused/hurt/upset about the racial backlash he got from some extremist morons. Definitely not a set up like I initially thought. I did LOL at Kanye say he would never and has never performed a publicity stunt, guess he forgot about his "feud" with fiddy.
The interview fell short for me, Jimmy was too shook to challenge Kanye and Kanye just cannot help but to take himself way too seriously. I started talkin’ to him about his daughter’s shoes but that somehow turned into a conversation about what would happen if Machiavelli owned Facebook.
So we go to the dining room for dinner. I volunteer to say grace. I started but they’re like – wait – we have to get the cameras ready. So they get their phones out, all the women start angling for the right picture on their phones…the food getting’ cold. Rob come downstairs, get a plate then take it back upstairs. They finally get their angles. Then Kim say “1,2,3, play” and just say “that’s exactly what I mean!” and laughs. Then the whole family just starts laughing with her and they act like they were talking all along. It was hella quiet just 30 seconds ago. I’m like oh, sh*t they really faked a whole family conversation for the camera! They took one bite of the food, turned the cameras off and left the dining room.
I was like gotta go cuz. It ain’t nothin’ real goin on in there. I was hungry but then I really got scared of the food. I started thinking about that picture of James Harden with Khloe like what is in them mashed potatoes? I snuck out, took an Uber down to Roscoe’s and tried to forget about it. Just pray for Ye, cuz.

I tend to side with 7 that he was having a bipolar episode (he does have an actual diagnosis) but he believed everything he said. Although I'm not dismissing the possibility that he was either drunk or pissed off, his wife and MIL released another statement without him again today. He is in Cody finishing up an album that's supposed to be released on Friday. I think that if he wasn't doing well, like a danger to himself, Dave wouldn't have left him there and Dame Dash wouldn't be taking public field trips with him.
