The gap between pinkel and tubs is HUUUUGE.

name something that tubs has done that would make the gap huge. He's going into tech and totally changing a system that has been in place for several years. Gonna take a while.

Based on past history, current success, and future dividends!
1. Mack Brown (won a natty champ)
2. LHC Bill Snyder (2003, owns Stoops)
3. Bob Stoops (2003, owned by Snyder)
4. Gary Pinkel (Hansel and Grettle type crap with this guy, seems like a real fairy)
5. Dan Hawkins (lots of grit with this one, hasn't gotten over the hump but will this year)
6. Bo Pelini (ugly doesn't win football games, otherwise this one would have a dozen gold medals in it)
7. Turner Gill (new kids on the block retired a long time ago, this one should have too)
Never heard of-
-Tommy Tuberville (couldn't afford to buy the name Bahama?)
-Art Briles (his name is Art?, ok monsiuer como cava, Senior Paris?)
-Mike Sherman (tanks)
-Paul Rhodes (Rhodes huh? Must be freinds with Wefald and went to k-stateo)
-Mike Gundy (Gundy sounds like this china man in Pittsburgh who sold me a used car that turned out to be a lemon.)

He went undefeated in the SE-rough ridin'-C and won the conference. He beat his hated rival 6 years in a row. If you throw out his first and last years at Auburn (under which were circumstances that were beyond his control) he had a 73% winning percentage in the SEC. Even after including those two years he won 63% of his games. Gary Pinkel is .500 in the Big 12. Gary Pinkel hasn't done crap.
He's going to change the defensive scheme at Tech (which will take probably two years). Tubs is nails.

Excellent topic Chingon!
In my response I decided to weigh each criteria equally, adding the sum of the for a total number of points. Coaches are listed top to bottom by overall score with scores of History, Recent Success, and Future = Total score to the right. I think my judgments are spot on.
1. Bob Stoops(OU) - 1,1,1 = 3
2. Mack Brown(UT) - 2,2,2 = 6
3. Bo Pelini(NU) - 6,4,3 = 13
4. Tom Tuberville(TT) - 4,6,4 = 14
5. Gary Pinkel(MU) - 5,3,7 = 15
6. LHC Bill Snyder(KSU) - 3,7,7 = 17
7. Mike Gundy(OSU - 7,5,7 = 19
8. Mike Sherman(ATM)- 8,9,9 = 26
12(t). Dan Hawkins(CU)- 9,10,12 = 31
12(t). Art Briles(BU) - 10,12,9 = 31
12(t). Turner Gill(KU) - 11,11,10 = 31
12(t). Paul Rhoads(ISU) - 12,8,11 = 31
How about that 4 way tie in the cellar.

Pinkel should not be ahead of Snydz in any B12 ranking system, no matter what the criteria. Make an executive decision and correct this, TIA.

I would put Tubs aboue Bo in future success, and Gill at the bottom with future hope. Other than that not to shabby. :users:

The reason I put Bo in front of Tubey is because he will soon be coaching in the Big Ten, and likely end up in a division with Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Northwestern and should have ample opportunities as CCGs. Tubey will have to play beat out UT, OU and whoever the other hot team in the Big 12 is each year to win the conf. championship.
It is amazing how 2 bad seasons and 3 years off have knocked Snyder down the rankings.
-
chingon, jealous of my keen football insight. so much so, that its actually a little embarrassing for me as well.
-
I've always thought Pinkel was a terrible coach. Like one of the worst game day coaches ever. He is a good recruiter, so that's obviously worth something. The only coaches I'd even consider putting him ahead of are Gill, Hawkins, and Gundy.
I have no idea what to do with Mike Sherman, or the guy at Iowa State.
-
4 coaches in the Big XII have a conference title
3 have gone undefeated
Their ages are: 50, 55, 59, 70
Two coach in Texas, one in Oklahoma, and one in Kansas

Couldn't agree more. Lived in Columbia until the 10th grade and I can't tell you how many times fans (if thats what you wanna call mizzou followers, probably the worst in the Big 12(10).) wanted his ass gone. To me he will always be right around or below Mangino level. I'm pretty sure the guy has never beaten oklahoma or texas and his teams consistently play down to the level of competition, ala iowa st losses, nebraska losses, baylor close calls, and losses to KSU during 2004 and 2005 seasons. Not to mention every time they show him on the sidelines during games he looks like he has no idea what's going on. Over the last few years he has had the talent to mask his shitty coaching, but even then he never even came close to beating any of the big boys.
-
That year Auburn had Jason Campbell, Cadillac and Ronnie Brown and went undefeated, did Tubberville get a NC? Seems like there were 3 undefeated teams that year, and they may have had to make their own Championship trophy (ala KU).
Glad to see some others recognize Pinkel's sucktitude. Pretty sure they lost at home to Baylor (sans RG3) last year

We didn't play Baylor last season :dunno:
JK, seriously though, Mizery was supposed to win the North, we were supposed to win like 3 games.

no kidding. he gets way too much credit (mostly from BITB) for being the least Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) team in the north the past few years. if it were still DOD period he'd already be fired.

This. And any list that has Gill anywhere than the cellar is just dumb.

Do you know how many teams are in the Big 12?
The two ratings pending entries are for whoever the Big 12 decides to add when they feel the need to expand.
I figured a mostly intelligent fan base such as Walk-On Aggie's fan base would have been able to figure that out. Guess I overestimated you. Sorry. Won't happen again.
