Have seen everything from a heart attack to an illness. Went to the PHOG and no one has any scoops.
Confirmed to not coach today against WVU.
-
I hope bill makes it out by end of this week. He has not looked good this year. Hope it’s nothing serious.
-
It’s so cagey I wonder if the illness is drug related?
At least that’s what I’m going to start saying.
-
I'm rolling with the "dehydrated from drinking too much scotch with Huggs" theory.
-
He's setting up the "retire for health reasons" in order to coach Oklahoma State in a year or two
-
Fentanyl overdose :frown:
-
Hope he is ok

"If LHC Bill Snyder outlives Bill Self it is confirmed there is no god."
Uhhhhh
-
at his age/stress level, gut protrusion, any kind of discomfort/pain is going to mean a hospital stay for tests and stuff.
He looked awful on the sidelines in that texas game.
-
heart issue but not to "heart attack" levels
-
Heart Illness
-
heart adversity
-
Fentanyl overdose :frown:
probably got some old halloween candy. GWS Bill
-
scared to play in B10
-
Nothing that a shot of penicillin won't cure.
-
heart hernia
-
word is that he got so furious when he found out that the b12 slotted ksu and b12 coy tang in the prime time slot tonight and relegated his K-thUg team to middle of the afternoon that he had a brain aneurysm
nothing would surprise me, thoughts?
-
There is definitely some big 12 shenanigans going on here
-
We joke about the schedule makers not doing us any favors but when you see the consequences it really makes you think
-
Clones taking the Phillips 66 tournament trophy with them to Albany is going to be hilarious.

Who looks in worse health: Huggy or Self? Red-faced Bill looks like a
candidate for a heart attack after wolfing down his next burrito.
--------------------------------------------------------
rough ridin' nailed it. So nice to have a vigorous fit coach who can boogie to Wabash after coaching the face and ass off the opposing coach.
-
Almost nailed it
-
Heart blockage removed and stent put in place. Won't coach for a week.

Its like Self got T’d up (by his cardiologist) and that could be the very defrib this ku squad needed
-
That has to be scary AF
-
The NCAA would be doing Self a lifesaving favor if they suspends him for a year.
-
Yikes, wishing a fast recovery for Mr self
-
I can't imagine he'll coach next week either.

Some of you guys are very rude.

Correct.
No way his doctors want him coaching in the NCAA tournament next week right?
-
Bill was so concerned about his hair when he should have be worried about his heart. Having the best-looking scalp while in ICU on life support with a bunch of 70 to 80 year old men is a sad accomplishment.
-
No way this is how bill goes out. He’s coming back.
-

Probably the same career trajectory as Hartman after his heart attack Never the same coach, sadly. No more chasing tail with his sleazy Lawrence real-estate buddy, either.
-
Bill is going to wait until the time is just right, get in his doctor's face and yell at him and demand he be cleared to leave, his doctor is going to act angry and make him lay back down, the nurse will nearly immediately come in to his room with a steak, a bud, a cigar, his clothes, and his release papers.
The other heart attack patients will see this and argue with the doctor for similar treatment and early release. Those patients will be waived off and made to feel crazy that their care is being handled any different than Bill's. Bill's care will then be paid for by a stint manufacturer's sales rep. Bill won't declare that as income. He will get caught. His tax lawyer will appeal. Nothing will happen. IRS will act like nothing happened and the world will move on.
-
It was really to much viagra... boner more than 4 hours...
-
Boner Bill, you're saying?
-
as a cardiologist, i’m truly thankful that coach self listened to his body telling him that something was wrong. i can’t begin to tell you guys how often my patients don’t listen to their symptoms and they end up with a much worse event that sometimes even ends in death.
my professional opinion is that he’s been sick for quite some time. burrito bill might have to switch to broccoli bill from here on out! :)
you guys have a great night

Well yeah, that's why some of us medical laymen were commenting on his health last month, joking about his burrito intake.
-
goodbye burrito bill, hello ensalada self
-
Every man over 60 (heck, 50) should fake a heart attack and get an angioplasty to see if they have blockage. They stint the rough rider immediately and you are back to biz in a day or so.

How do you fake a heart attack and get an angioplasty?

Walk in and say “chest pains and terrible family history of heart issues.” They’ll hook you up

I'd bet Tom's farm that he's coaching next Thursday or Fri
-
He'll be coaching again Monday, preparing for the Dance. Will the committee reward KU with a Friday first-round game?
-
As a certified lawyer, on behalf of gE.c I am obligated to inform all readers of this blog that clams is a Cardi-B ologist - which is to say he is an expert in the field of Cardi B. He has been known to, at times, lop the B off completely and call himself a cardiologist which is both unethical and illegal in 29 states (including Kansas and Missouri)

My wife has a background in cardiac rehab, and her take was just like yours. She said Self was pretty smart to see a health professional when he felt something was wrong, and probably saved himself from some permanent heart damage. Way to go, Bill!
-

The KU Medical Center is not the KU basketball plantation. Massa Seff is an esteemed patient, but still just a patient.
-
My KU mole insider who knew about selfs heart issues before it was public says self is considering retirement and Jay wright is the first call.
If I was KU I would back the brinks truck up to Brad.
-
Brad Underwood?! I don't think KU is that dumb.
-
How do they do better than this?
Larry brown > Roy Williams > Bill Self
Jay wright would be a good 5 year stop gap but Stevens would be the solution for the next 10-20 years
-
Oh Stevens
-
Stevens hasn’t proven he can recruit. I doubt he’s on their list.
-
Get well get well soon we want you to get well
-
Jay Wright retired because of the portal and NIL, he ain’t coming back.
-
I bet it would be hard for Jay Wright to turn down Kansas.
-
KU should definitely go get a proven winner, even an older one. It’s impossible to replace Self and keep the fans satisfied. They need a buffer coach who will not fail, but also do the hard job of getting the fans used to winning less.
-
I bet it would be hard for Jay Wright to turn down Kansas.
Why would he be interested in moving to the midwest
-
maybe he wants to enjoy his later years on a beautiful flint hills cattle ranch.
-
I bet it would be hard for Jay Wright to turn down Kansas.
He had a job where he beat KU for national championships twice in four years, he doesn't see that as a better job. He's also been very vocal about how he's enjoying retirement. He's spent all but 3 years of his life in Pennsylvania, most of that in greater Philadelphia, he isn't moving to Lawrence, KS in his 60s.

Maybe like Jim Leranega (sp)?
-
Sean Miller
-
Arkansas coach. Three sweet sixteens in a row. At Arkansas. Also, he is willing to do their stupid chant in public. There is nothing he wouldn’t do.
They should consider getting a Dick Cheney heart and a Jay wright ipad robot for bill.
-
Stevens hasn’t proven he can recruit. I doubt he’s on their list.
LOL I feel like he has a job that's hard to leave though
-
There's still time to jump in front of St. John's and grab Pitino!
-

Pitino actually would be a great stop gap/filler coach for 5 years at KU but I guess the allure of st John's was too much.
-
I'm sure Pationo would be happy to bang a waitress of a table at the 23rd Street Brewery after wrapping up a late coach's show. He could introduce KU to a whe new opportunities in Level 5 violations, too.
-
So is he retiring today or what?
-
Nope
-
If he was really retiring that press conference would have been done with like 2 hours notice not 2 days.
