A decade or so ago, Lula lead Brazil down the pathway of BRICS, which in and of itself is dangerous enough.

But in his victory speech last October he said (and these are the kinds of things that get you coup'd, albeit hastily):

“We will not accept a new Cold War between the United States and China . . . We will have relations with everyone"
