I agree. I’m not at the “buy a huggieville shirt and wear it to the Lawrence Hyvee” level before the first exhibition game, but not that far off.

my espn+ experience- every timeout stops the stream and my screen goes black.  if I hit the play button on the ipad/phone, it goes to the loop commercial with di khalid teeing off, a clip of peyton, etc without sound and never goes back to the game.  I then have to reset phone or ipad to get the game back on.

p cool!

Washburn is small but the big men seem very Baylor’y.

Even the really skinny guy can run fast and is pretty nimble.he goes up strong too. He can even drive from the perimeter. Quite impressive.

23 made a really nice catch and finish on a look ahead.

N’Guessan is long as crap and looks like he’s a 5-year NBA vet from 1989.

Is the dude from Florida State supposed to be a wing or a banger? Probably both. Charles Barkley is 6’ 4” as well.

I haven’t gotten to the part where Colbert plays yet.

I used Roku and it worked well this time.  I did have the same problem as everyone else for the football game earlier this year where it forced it to start from the beginning.

Either way, might be worth getting a cheap Roku just for the ESPN app for games.

If I had to guess who the starting 5 will be based on last night's performance...

Nowell
Johnson
Tomlin
Carter
Colbert

But these guys will be quick of the bench and see plenty of playing time.
N'Guessan
Sills
Greene
Iyiola
Massoud

Not much playing time
Thomas
Walk-ons

I think we will redshirt Finister and Manning.

Pretty exciting because we look like we have depth.

I'm pretty low BBIQ but I will be more likely to tune in to Cat basketball if the days of 8-minute scoring droughts are truly ended. Basketball has the potential to be a very fun-filled spectacle if approached in the right manner!

You know how I can tell this team is the exact opposite of any of oscar's teams? It's in the way the players walk. There's kind of a strut. But nothing too cocky. You can see it when you look closely at their asses when they are walking. Don't take my word for it. Look at Dominique Sutton's ass when he walks. Then, compare and contrast!

Title: Re: Washburn Exhibition
Post by: EMAWzifried on November 02, 2022, 02:21:07 PM
Because of ESPN+'s refusal to recognize my payment, I missed most of the first half and our best basketball. I was playing catchup the second half in identifying all the new players and even though I was expecting sloppy the team exceeded my expectations the start of the second half. Really liked what I saw of Tomlin and, of course, Colbert.
Another thing. I like the things Tang says ahd the phrases he employs.  Little things like emphasizing two hands on the basketball -- no more of those one-handed lazy passes of Oscar's teams -- not playing the scoreboard in an exhibition, which was kind of aspirational last night, and just the whole focus on rebounding.
Obviously, the team and coaches have a lot of work to do. But I think the talent is there. One of the things I hoped for Tang's first recruiting class was a solid foundation for when the elite talent starts arriving next year. It appears that is the case.

Based on the HugeCat smell test, this is who I would like to see starting
#1 Desi Sills 6’2” guard
#2 Keyontae Johnson, 6’6” wing
#3 Nae’Qwan Tomlin 6’8” wing
#4 David N’Guessan, 6’9? wing
#5 Jerrel Colbert 6’10” post

In my IMHO, Those are the five most talented guys we have. This is who I would like to see in the rotation for a total of 10 guys splitting playing time.

#1 Markquis Nowell 5’8” guard
#2-3 Camryn Carter 6’3” wing
#2-3 Tykei Greene 6’4” wing
#3-4 Dorian Finister 6’5” wing
#5 Abayomi Iyiola 6’10” post

It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if Ismael Massoud never saw the floor.

I think that’s right, with Cam coming off the bench.  Cam is probably the best pure scoring guard we have so I could see his minutes cutting into Quis minutes when the combo of he and Desi becomes the clear best lineup as the season goes on.  I feel really comfortable with Greene, Nowell, Sills, and Carter handling the ball, it’s a really nice backcourt with solid depth.

Length
General unselfishness
Looked like we have fun

The bad:
FT shooting

The ugly:
