This thread has been a long time coming. Mr. clams and DLew have made me realize that there is an untapped outpouring of love for D Scott on this message board. I’m not sure why they felt I wasn’t on board the D Scott Fritchen bandwagon, but you can search my post history and I have never posted a disparaging word against D Scott.
In fact, I’ll start things off with a previous post of mine singing D Scott’s praises.
I’m starting to view D Scott in a whole new light now that he’s not Fitz’ wingman & Marquis Nowell said he is “my guy”. He may be the greatest longform journalist left in this world. He could be our modern day George Plimpton or Frank Deford.

this guy really gets triggered by dsf

You both strike me as the type of person who enjoys listening to Imagine Dragons. Is that correct?
-
I’m pretty sure I would be rolling on the floor laughing my ass off if only I knew who Imagine Dragons were. Sorry, Spraggs, swing and a miss.

You know, I learn something new from everyone of D Scott’s masterful stories. For instance, I did not know that Gale Sayers was from Nicodemus. I always thought he was from OmahaToday, there are approximately 30 people living in the community. Nicodemus was hometown to six NFL players — Veryl and Marvin Switzer, Kevin and Gerald Wilhite, and Ron and Gale Sayers.
-
The Kansas Comet's wikipedia page says he was born in Wichita and raised in Omaha. No mention of Nicodemus.
-
Imagine @Spracne Dragon his nuts back in here and educating us hayseeds on this former Jayhawk great’s Kansas childhood

I’m hoping Dr. Litton will be a refreshing change of pace from General Myers, who I thought was a disaster.

Lots of good stuff in the Darren Howard article but this may be my favorite.
Then Jim Leavitt burst through the door at Boca Ciega High School and changed everything. Leavitt, 38, had that smile, that hair, and that unmistakable, fast, excitable voice that sounded like he swigged 10 Mountain Dews on the 30-minute drive from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport. Leavitt was the guy everybody heard at a dinner party. Leavitt never slept. Leavitt was entering his fifth year as co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at rising Kansas State, which came off back-to-back bowl games for the first time in history. Armed with stacks of VHS football highlight tapes along with a hard-charging, relentless pace, Leavitt was the Wildcats' ace-in-the-hole in recruiting, and he mined talent from the Sunshine State to the Sunflower State. He was a bulldog that wouldn't let go once he latched onto you.

Vaughn departs the stadium carrying his now-famous satchel.

I’m posting this in the football board because I had high hopes for her brother. The dude was a stud athlete. I can’t remember his name or what years played he was on the team before he transferred. His last name was Kassanavoid

"My speed isn't bad, it's good," he begins. "If I get loose, I think I'll take it. I don't think anybody will really catch me. My second week here I got the 21 SAVAGE t-shirt that we wear. Maybe I don't look as fast because I'm a bigger guy or my strides are a little longer.
"I was actually ninth in the nation when I ran a 4:39 mile at age 13. I went to Junior Olympics in Texas and Michigan and ran inside big stadiums, packed stadiums, so it's something I've been around before. I'm going to attack each day and be ready for it."

With his size and speed, and if he knows the plays he may be able to relieve Deuce if he should get injured. Hopefully, he'll keep the coaches and fans happy.

His resume isn’t actually dude-worthy. Speaking of dudes have you seen bb recruiting vs fb? 2/2 4 stars vs like 1/15 for fb? Lol football

Did you see the info. on the new big 10 network contract? They are getting $1.2 Billion per year for what amounts to 3 sets of top tier FB games, and all other sports including BB is estimated to be $300 Million per year.   :crossfingers:

duh of course football is bigger. and your bragging about the problem with the sport. idiot. at least we can compete in basketball. in football, in our best year, we'd get pisspounded by alabama's backups in a down year for them. enjoy your rigged sport.

Some words about Weird Robert / Robert Lipson. Seriously, it is a pretty informative article and the most complete summary of the history / background of Robert that I've come across.
Tufts of white hair spill from beneath a gray Powercat ballcap, a toothy smile causing the edges of a trimmed white beard to spread like curtains. Robert Lipson, the 72-year-old Kansas State superfan who’s dedicated fifty years of his life to following the Wildcats to every conference game away from Manhattan — 202 consecutive conference road games, to be exact — is happy.

GROSS D SCOTT!
-
My dad passed another part of the Robert legend on to me. It sounds vaguely familiar but it should be recorded for posterity.
----
Yes I did get it, but, thanks for sending it just in case. It is an interesting story for sure.
The first I ever saw him, I was I think a freshman a K-State and he was standing behind me at a basketball game. I could tell he was a back-easterner and was a bit non-orthodox for sure. I had no idea that he would become somewhat of an icon.
......
I read one story about him where he had gone to the Missouri basketball game, meeting the team as they got off the bus. After the game, he asked Jack Hartman if he could ride the bus back, as his car had broke down. Jack told him to get to the back of the bus and not cause any trouble. Later, Jack went back to ask Robert where his car had broken down, and Robert said, “Manhattan”.
Thanks again for sending it. Quite a story. Hope you had a great day. .....
