Yellow mustard is a good one. I just recently found my way back to how good and versatile it is.
-
Tabasco sauce
-
Soy sauce should be in this conversation
-
Green cholula
-
Are we talking basics or something like Freddy’s jalapeño fry sauce.
-
This thread is about underrated condiments, not your god damn favorite condiments, guys.
-

Eh, not really, hard to describe. Kinda like Big Mac special sauce but not as zesty.
-
Are red pepper flakes a condiment?
-
Tapenade.
If olive to be 100 I hope I never have another bite of that trash
-
Are red pepper flakes a condiment?
No
-

No
Really? Why the hell not?
-

Really? Why the hell not?
Condiments must be refrigerated, in a bottle/jar and used to moisten whatever you're eating.

Siracha isn't refrigerated.

Horseradish sauce.
Not for everything, but for the right application... :lick:
-
MIR that jar of sandwich spread is offensive
-
Dark horse candidate - ketchup. Gets hated on a lot.
Big mayo fan here, and it also gets a lot of hate.

cocktail sauce
this stuff right here is delicious. costco gets it in every year around christmas and I buy 4-5 bottles to get me through the remainder of the year. typing that out made me realize I go through more cocktail sauce annually than probably 99% of the us population

Also, worcestershire.

at first i thought you were talking about costco and thought "damn yeah costco is a pretty great restaurant experience when you get right down to it."
i've been on a huge horseradish kick lately. in laws cooked a pork tenderloin for christmas and i was close to causing a scene when MIL said she forgot to get horseradish at the store.

lol. That St. Elmos stuff can really clear some things up if you're ever congested.
-
Now I want shrimp cocktails!
-
MIR that jar of sandwich spread is offensive
When I lived in Boston, none of the grocery stores carried it. I had do go to Walmart in New Hampshire to find it.

i obviously eat a lot of cocktail sauce and this stuff is the most horseradishy i’ve ever tried. it’s so good and will truly dominate your sinuses

Are you dunking shrimp or what else you do? I have dunked some fish sticks before when the kids leave some extra and I am in dad clean up mode and want to go beyond ketchup.

French fries and tots go great in cocktail sauce.

We have a cocktail sauce specialty store not too far from my house. I can buy it by the gallon there.

I’m sure it has come up in another thread but Hellman’s mayonnaise is 100x better than the miracle whip that I grew up on. Also, Frank’s Red Hot is really good on a lot of different foods.

Don't eff with it if either you or someone you're with has the chance to have a tree nut allergy. I learned the hard way, very nearly killed a kid.

tell me more about that
found it at costco have also seen it at sun fresh. it's.... incredible. goes on anything. dip veggies or chips in it. i've used it as a sandwich spread. slightly spicy. and healthy! calorie dense though like any fat-based condiment.
-
i am so jazzed to try that

it's just fine imo. i got tired of the taste really fast.

My BK Whopper hack has always been to get the whopper then get a couple of deals of the Onion Ring dipping sauce and then dip the whop in the sauce and enjoy. Really brings the zest.

I use fish sauce as an ingredient, but it smells too awful for me to ever put it on top of something like a condiment.
-
yeah, it's good in everything. but I cannot even fathom just dumping it on food and eating it.

What do you put it on? I bought some but couldn’t find a vessel for it that felt right

I have never heard of that stuff but this sounds pretty tasty
You can also swap out regular oil with the chili crisp for any kind of fried rice, noodles or stir-fries

It's of course great on ramen, but anything that could use some "umami" kick works.
I've put it on eggs. Yesterday I put some on some risi e bisi even. And in the past I've even put some in curry.

Sounds delish! I actually have some dried chiles (habs) laying around and might try my hand at making some. Doesn't look too complicated.

Southwest hot mustard.
Is it the best or most used? I don't believe so.
Is it the most underrated? Well, it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet. So I say we found our winner!
